It was a windy yet scorching hot morning to everyone in the hacienda fields.

A muzzy, short girl with a muddled dirty blonde hair, creased eyebrows and sticky forehead wiped her sweat and straightened her back after picking out another handful of blueberries to her woven basket clinging onto her arm.

She observed the busy surroundings of farmers and their children picking fruits, lifting bamboos, and vociferous chattering about the big welcoming event for the coming afternoon.  Everyone was busy and excited, she thought.

She closed her eyes and inhaled the soft scent of the morning breeze.

She looked up and stared far ahead at the vast space of land with the sun rays vehemently blazing across the green fields. She heaved a sigh and walked her way towards the other part of the huge farm.

It was a usual day for a 19-year old girl named Kim Taeyeon where everyone’s tending to their duties as the laborers of the prosperous family of Hwang. She came from the family of farmers serving the Hwangs even before the death of Mr. Hwang’s grandfather.

She gave her basket to an old woman laborer and the latter smiled at her and left. She took an empty basket and stood in the middle of the strawberry farm of the Hacienda Hwang. The families of the farmers were asked by the Hwang residence’s trusted butler to pick out some fresh blueberries, strawberries and other crops in their own farm to be served at the mansion later.

It was a convivial celebration for Mr. Hwang’s daughter who hasn’t visited the Hacienda for a very long time as she was in California.
