Year 2007 : [Brazil] Age 21


“Finally! I got a chance to visit Brazil! Soccer soccer soccer! BoA!” Junsu squeaked. “You scared me!”


BoA laughed. “Hey! Don’t blame me. I just walked up behind you.”


“BoA!” the director called. “One more shot!”


“Coming!” BoA smiled slightly at Junsu before running towards the crew.


Junsu smiled as he watched BoA skip away. He truly was glad to film this ad. He got more time with BoA, and realized how much he missed her. He slapped himself mentally for avoiding her the past few years.


“Why are you staring at BoA like that?” Tablo asked, while eyeing on Junsu, who had his eyes on BoA.


“Ah! Hyung!” Junsu jumped in surprise and called out, clearing his throat, embarrassed.


“Don’t try to hide. I saw you looking at her.” Tablo grinned.


“It’s a look. You looked at her too!” Junsu stuttered.


“I know. But the way you look at her, it’s different. I can feel it.” Tablo explained. “It’s almost… almost… as if…”


No I’m not in love with her!


“You have something to ask her!” Tablo joked and ran away.


“HYUNG~” Junsu whined. He sat on a chair as he watched BoA filmed her part. She had on a serious face when they were filming but started smiling and goofing around the moment the director said ‘cut’. Junsu smiled; how he had missed those smiles of hers. BoA caught him looking at her and gave him a small smile. So small, but he caught it, knowing that it is for him. Maybe he really did have something to ask.


Tablo was called up next as BoA walked towards Junsu and sat on the seat next to him, gulping down the mineral water placed on the table, before picking up a lyrics sheet.


I have to know. I need to know!


Junsu cleared his throat. Now all grown up and no longer as embarrass with their feelings towards the opposite gender, Junsu plucked up his courage and asked: “Is that song for me?”


BoA looked up from the lyrics in her hand and looked at Junsu wide eyed. He knows…


Junsu waited patiently for her reply as he looked at her softly, the same gaze he gave her when they were younger. The same gaze she never once saw even though they met again a few years back.


BoA bit her lip as she searched in his eyes as to why is he asking now, 6 years after the song was released. She got lost in his eyes eventually and nodded lightly. She felt herself blush. This was the first time she admitted that the song was for someone special. And this confession was made to the very person she wrote it for.


Junsu looked down towards the ground, with his hands tightly clasps. He gave a light cough, before turning towards her again. “Have you… have you moved on now?”


BoA smiled slightly. “My feelings now are the same as when I composed the song.”


BoA didn’t even need to sing or recite the song for him. He knew the song by heart. He smiled.


“Have you heard ‘Rainy Night’?” Junsu smiled.


“Yeah… I cried so badly when I first heard it. And I still do now. It’s beautiful.” BoA complimented. She has to admit the song struck a chord in her heart.


“I wrote it while thinking about you,” Junsu confessed, as he lowered his head in embarrassment. “To tell the truth, we never did break up.”


BoA looked at him in surprise, but he never looked up. She smiled widely as she looked away and bit her lip, as though as she was trying to suppress her happiness before she looked like an idiot to onlookers. Junsu caught it though, and couldn’t help but to smile as brightly as her.


Suddenly, a shadow blocked the sunlight as they turned to see BoA’s manager, though glaring at them, but it was surprisingly soft, “Him?”


BoA looked at him confused as she didn’t reply. “I know you guys known each other since your younger days, but please, lay low. Have as less interaction as possible.”


BoA and Junsu looked at him blankly. His face said a thousand words and they understood immediately what he meant. He saw through them. Love was clearly written all over their faces. They could get into big trouble if things got out. He stood there waiting, almost as if waiting for them to promise him to stay away from each other. They looked at each other sadly, before nodding; making a promise that broke their hearts.

AnyBand Concert


Today is the day they are going to fufil their promise to each other. As BoA, TVXQ, Epik High and Jin Bora shared hugs for confidence boost 5 mins before the concert starts, BoA and Junsu couldn’t help but held onto each other a little longer, a little tighter.


This little gesture wasn’t overlooked by BoA’s manager, who kept his eyes on them, but couldn’t bear to tear them apart. He knows very well how much his words the other day broke their hearts.

Passion and desperation was clearly heard in their voices. As Junsu glided backstage, they turned and gave each other a last look and a slight smile. Sadness was evident in both of their eyes, knowing that they’ll never be together.
