Hello Kitty?

Mailman

Kai walked though the store eyeing up everything on the shelves. Nothing perked his interest or was nearly important enough for his time, but that wasn’t going to stop him. He continued on walking though the while store stealthily grabbing objects and pocketing them in his favourite leather jacket. He strolled out of the store with a small laugh, when will those idiots learn? He looked down at what he had pocketed, just some random snacks and (Praise the Lord) a Twinkie. He’s been stealing from stores in the area ever since he was little and it seems like no one had noticed yet.

Kai didn’t even know why he stole anymore. It started back when he was just a little kid, probably barely older than a toddler. Who would suspect a child of stealing anyways? Apparently his Noona had caught onto that fact and made him steal things from cosmetic stores. They would always walk in and she would tell him to go play The Game. Basically he would run about until he was sure no one was looking and shove things into his little turtle backpack. At first Kai was terrified that big policemen would come and get him, soon he found that no one notices him.

The guilt still ebbed away at him though until one day he couldn’t take it. He ran into his sisters’ room sobbing until her words slowly convinced him that what he was doing wasn’t wrong. She said it was a secret game that only we could play together. Slowly as her words seeped in, a slow obsession took over. Kai began to find himself in random local stores on his way home from school, just shoving things into whatever he had on him at the moment.

It's not as if Kai never felt the overwhelming shame again. At one point it got so bad that he forced himself to avoid all stores all together. He couldn’t hold out for even a week. The thrill, if you could still call it that, of not being caught was too much. He was hooked to the high it gave him. It made him feel undefeatable. Truth was, there was nowhere else he could get that feeling. Kai was barely passing school and has no real goals for the future. His future was either becoming a dancer, a dream that makes him laugh every time, or a full time thief. Maybe it was simple as Kai was obsessed.

Kai was just walking home, but that didn’t stop stares from being thrown his way. It was midday and he was walking around in his school uniform. Before you assume too, no he was not skipping. Trust me as I say Kai is too much of a wimp on the inside to even attempt ditching. School was out early because of a terrible frog incident. Turns out some students let out 500 frogs into the school, and by chance the principal was absolutely terrified of frogs. Some childhood trauma or something, who could’ve known?  Kai was too much of a wimp to skip, but who said his friends were too wimpy to shut down the school just for a day off.

Right as the announcement came that they were dismissed his friends started throwing out all these ideas of what to do with the rest of their day. In the end two of his friends decided that they’re too good for the peasants and skipped off together. Sighs, what type of company am I even keeping? God I thought I was an intelligent human that deserved better, omg. The tall weird couple decided they’re going to have some “alone time”. I don’t even want to think about what that might be. The image of those two doing the nasty is enough to make me want to puke. My last friend ran off too. Why are we even friends when they don’t even want to spend time together? He said he had more important cuter people to be seeing than us fartfaces.

What amazing friends.

Seriously.

I love them.

How could I not love them? Those idiots are hell bent on ruining my life and every social interaction I ever have. One time when I was trying to ask out a girl they ran by and shoved several pickles into my pants. Second time I tried to ask out someone I made sure they were all busy. Yet somehow they managed to pop out from a tree we were standing under and scream their heads off. There went my plans on ever asking anyone out ever again. He needed new friends but then again that means social interactions, and he knew that wasn’t an option.

He was thrown out of his thoughts as he passed by a loud marketplace. Kai could’ve done something more productive with his time rather than just walking home. He should’ve been practising a routine at the dance studio or at the library studying. He just couldn’t bring himself to do either with the thoughts of failing once again on his mind. No point in trying if you’re just going to end up with the same results. Then again didn’t practice make perfect? Even as all these things ran though his mind he couldn’t help but walk into the nearest store. The urge was coming again and it would help him stop thinking about his boring life.

As he walked though the store he realised this would be a bit of a challenge. He had watched into a hello kitty themed store, and he really did not seem like the type to be buying hello kitty merch. Out of the corner of his eye he could already see the clerk giving him a look. Quickly Kai came up with a plan and walked straight up to the counter.

“Hello there,” he said with a smirk.

“Hey! Welcome to Kitty Land, how many I help you?”

Sigh. How much faker can this girl get?

“I was just looking for a new item that might’ve come out recently for my little sister? She just loves this stupid cat.”

With a relieved smile she said,

“Yeah sure, come with me.”

He couldn’t help but smirk to himself, she really fell for it that easily. He couldn’t believe how easy this was getting. As she led him to the section with the newly arrived dolls, Kai reached out and grabbed something from the self and shoved it into his coat. You couldn’t even tell he took something just by looking at him; the movement was so natural it didn’t even look like stealing anymore. It bothered him how easily he had gotten it. Where was the fun if there was no danger anymore? He let out a small sigh as the clerk finally led him to the new arrivals. (How is the store even this big, god it's just a cat) She started to explain the toys to him but he cut her off with a short thanks. Kai loitered around a little longer and then left the store.

As he started his walk home he opened up his pocket to see what he had grabbed. He laughed as he pulled out a hello kitty watch. The cute little cat was in the center with her arms moving to indicate the time. “This is adorable” thought Kai, “I should give it to Tao; he would love it.”

Chapter 1: XD Tao likes hello kitty?! Damn I absolutely HATE this cat ._. And ain't it really risky to steal something from such shops? I dunno how its in Korea (or anywhere, for that matter) but here you can't steal watches.. There's this weird code thingy on almost every product which triggers an alarm as soon as you walk out if you haven't paid ._.
And doesn't Kai have lovely friends :D I'm glad they prevented him from asking girls out xD
Update soon~
