24. Clubbing

7 hours from home, next door to heart (in the process of editing)

“Are you ready?” Kibum called out to his hyungs who were still in their rooms.

“Nearly,” Jungmins’ door opened to reveal a nicely dressed Jungmin. He had dark blue shirt on and black pants. His belt had a novelty buckle which was a bulls eye. His shoes were brown.

“Ok,” Kibum was in a white shirt with pockets on both sides and had the sleeves rolled up. He was in jeans and brown shoes too.

“Where’s Hyung Jun-ah?” Jungmin asked checking the time on his phone.

“Here,” Hyung Jun came out. He looked very sharp in his black button up shirt which had the top two buttons undone. He was in dark jeans and black lace up shoes.

“Wow,” Jungmin wolf whistled, “hot.”

“Can I ask you a favour?” Hyung Jun asked as he put a silver chain on, “stop watching that television.” Kibum laughed as Jungmin said, “o-ok.”

“Maddy may be waiting for us,” Kibum said seeing it was one minute left until seven thirty.

“KyuYang is waiting downstairs for us,” Hyung Jun, “hyung can you get Maddy please?”

“Daebak,” Jungmin grinned, going out of there suite knocking on Maddy’s door.

“Maddy,” he sang, “are you ready~?” The door creaked as it opened; Jungmin spotted a flash of color as a shy Maddy appeared. Jungmin was surprised. She was in a bright green dress that had a high collar and detail around the neckline like origami folded paper in the beginning stages. It hung to her knees and on her feet was a pair of brown heels. Her hair was pinned up in a bun with her fringe being the loose hair. In her ears were gold earrings in the shape of tea leaves. She had simple makeup, eyeliner, mascara, some blush and light pink lip stick. On her shoulder was a small brown bag.

“Jungmin,” she couldn’t look at him she was feeling embarrassed. Jungmin was about to say something when they heard the other two coming out of the apartment.

“Hyung was it such a…?” Kibum stopped they had seen her. Jungmin stepped aside so they got a better glimpse of her. Hyung Jun was silent his eyes on her.

“Wow, you look good,” Kibum said.

“Thank you,” Maddy said her cheeks reddening slightly, “so do you.”

“Thanks,” Kibum gushed before looking at his hyung, “say something.” He pushed Hyung Jun forward.

“You are in green,” Jungmin put a hand over his mouth to try and stop himself from laughing. Maddy’s mouth formed a smile. “Of course,” she said unfazed.

“It’s like our sweet pea green,” Hyung Jun added, “It’s a special color.” Maddy suspected it was to do with them being famous.

“Shall we go?” Jungmin suggested when he was composed, “ahjussi may be bored of waiting.” The others agreed and they all went to the lift.

***

The club was booming with music in Korean, lights flashed above the dance floor as people danced while a DJ played music. People were talking, mostly in the Kim brother’s and Jungmin’s language. Maddy cautiously followed, being careful not to bump into people as they went around the floor.

“I think she’s a little out of her depth,” Jungmin said into Hyung Jun’s ear so he could hear, “maybe we should grab a booth?” Hyung Jun changed paths and they went to a table and bench chairs.

“Ladies first,” Jungmin offered letting Maddy in. She sat and made her way to the end. Hyung Jun and Kibum sat opposite her and Jungmin.

“I can’t believe this music,” Kibum said, “it’s like being at home.”

“What can I get you?” A waitress in a short black dress asked them.

“You,” Jungmin said winking. Maddy clenched her hands in front of her.

“Please just Soju for us two,” Kibum interceded, “Maddy?”

“Oh I’m fine thanks.”

“Coming right up,” Maddy’s presence seemed to be irrelevant to the waitress who made a funny face before leaving. She came back with a bottle of water and a bottle of Soju. Jungmin soon spotted some girls who gave him eye contact. “What do you say?” He asked the other brothers, “Shall we invite them to join us?” Maddy’s eyes flashed with shock. Kibum looked at Hyung Jun, “hyung would you like to?” Hyung Jun had his eye on someone else. A familiar pretty but mean face was seen from the bar. It was a face he half expected to see.

“Excuse me Jungmin,” Maddy asked politely. Jungmin slid out of his seat to let her go.

“Where are you off to?” He asked.

“The bathroom,” she said before walking there. Kibum spotted who Hyung Jun was looking at.

“It’s that secretary,” Kibum said in a low voice. Hyung Jun began to shuffle to the end of the seat, “h-hyung!”

“I’ll be back,” he said confidently going over to her.

***

“You,” Hyung Jun said getting her to turn her head, her hair was straight and fell down her back. She was in a black strapless dress that showed cleavage. “Oh it’s you,” she smiled through her lipstick, “nice to see you again Hyung Jun. Do you know one of your songs is playing?” Hyung Jun lifted his head; he didn’t even realize Déjà vu was on.

“Do you still think I’m cowardly?” Hyung Jun stated firmly, “I came all the way over here just to find out.”

“Trust me I really have little interest in you,” she continued, “I just like stirring you because I have nothing else to do.”

“What do you want?”

“I don’t have anything I want,” she stirred her drink, “unless…You can get me signed to a company.”

“You want to become famous?”

“Sure, good money, exposure and of course handsome men,” she ran a hand down his cheek to his neck making him twitch.

“What if I can’t?”

“Well then that’s a shame,” the secretary took her hand back, “but I can always ask your friend over there.” She was referring to Jungmin who was starting to sound drunk from their booth. They’d gained some drinking buddies in the last few moments.

“You wouldn’t…” Hyung Jun was going to continue when he saw something in the far distance. Maddy was walking out of the bathroom when two guys crowded her. Without another word he moved away and went over to the scene.

“Want to come with us?” One of them offered to Maddy.

“I’m fine thank you,” she was blocked by them.

“You sure, we like girls like you,” the other one told her.

“No really I have somewhere else to…” One of them grabbed her arm.

“Why the f*** are you saying no?” One of them roared close to her spraying her with his spit. Maddy closed her eyes.

“Yeah,” the other one went to her side, “we just want our feel.” One of his hands reached out to her chest.

“Stop,” they stopped when they heard Hyung Jun say that in Korean. The two moved to look at him with scowls. “Says who?” They challenged him right there and then.

“You should step away,” Hyung Jun made a move to push one of them but the guy shoved back.

“Hey what’s going on?” A drunk Jungmin asked as he and Kibum came over, “why you being an ?”

“He’s poking his nose where it doesn’t belong,” one of them told him.

“How, last time I checked that woman didn’t come with you she came with us.”

“Well she’ll go home with us,” one of them put an arm around her shoulders, his hand dangling dangerously above a sensitive spot. Maddy began hyper ventilating.

“Maddy,” Kibum went over to her, “relax ok?”

“So what makes you think that she should go with you?” They asked Hyung Jun.

“She’s a friend.”

“Then can we borrow your friend?”

“No,” Hyung Jun kept his composure.

“But if she’s just a friend,” one of the sleazes began to point out.

“Hyung,” Kibum was getting worried; Jungmin had run out of things to say. Hyung Jun gave a frustrated sigh.

“She isn’t just a friend,” he began looking them straight in the eyes. A fierce gaze that no one expected as well as him speaking in his first language gave him courage to say what he had to. “She’s more than that.”

“She’s more?” They raised their eyebrows mockingly, “you mean… Like you like her?”

“More than that,” Hyung Jun pushed one of them aside as Kibum got the other one away from her. Jungmin came to protect her from her free shoulder. The two sleazes looked at Hyung Jun with confusion and slight anger as he continued.

“That woman there is one I love.” Kibum let out a gasp while Jungmin clapped happily. Maddy looked at them in confusion not understanding what he said.

“Come on,” one of them began, “this is boring.” They made their way out and away. When they were clear gone everyone sighed out.

“Thank goodness,” Jungmin said with his Engrish, “Maddy are you ok?”

“C-can I go outside for a bit?” She asked.

“Sure,” Jungmin and Kibum stepped aside to let her, “hmm…She’s putting on a brave front.” The Kim brothers waited for Jungmin to elaborate, “I’m surprised she isn’t more shaken from such a thing.” Hyung Jun’s feet ended up going to the entrance of the club.

***

Out in the cool crisp air he glanced around for her. She was sitting against the wall, her arms around herself, shaking.

“Maddy,” he walked over to her and lowered himself down next to her. He shook her shoulder and she lifted her head from the protective shell. Her face was paler from fear, “Hyung Jun.” She breathed through her nose, “I really was stupid to come.” She blinked a few times before she hid herself again. Hyung Jun heard herself starting to sob. He glanced at the watch. KyuYang would probably have gone to bed and would not have appreciated if they called him to pick them up.

“Let’s go home,” Hyung Jun patted Maddy on the shoulder. She uncoiled slightly to wipe her eyes. The next thing Hyung Jun had one hand under her legs and the other went behind her back. She was picked up and held in bridal style by him.

“H-Hyung,” Kibum almost fell over from the surprise when he and Jungmin saw this.

“We should go.”

“But how, is there a taxi?” Jungmin asked glancing at their surroundings.

“The next taxi bay is a couple of blocks that way,” a passerby pointed.

“Thanks,” Kibum thanked them.

“Can you really carry her?” They’d been walking for about a minute by now.

“Even if I can’t I will make myself do it,” Hyung Jun told him, “It’s the least I can do for her.”

“You mean it’s the least you can do for that one woman you love.” Kibum and Jungmin smiled at him, “it must have felt good saying it.”

“Hyung,” Hyung Jun tried to cut him off in the fear Maddy asked what they were saying. He saw she had fallen asleep. He breathed out in relief and in pleasure at her lovely sleeping form. A smile came to his face.

“I guess it did.”

And another long chapter; I just finished this at 12:17 and my eyes are ready to close. I shouldn’t be awake I have work tomorrow/today. Half hearted about that but anyway… So give me feedback, did we like how Hyung Jun confessed or did it come too corny? Did I describe a drunk Jungmin alright? Ok now I’m off to bed. Night guys
