Strawberry prints…or Winnie the Pooh?
Lee Sungmin stared, thinking hard what he would pick among his choices. Funny, one would think he was wasting his time on something so pointless, picking out a design for band aids. But to Sungmin, this was important. Ever since he was younger, his late mother always did tell him that the magic on the band aids came from the prints, and that he should always chose a print he liked because it would heal his wounds faster. He was a grown man now, but he still held her words to his heart.
He reached out for the box of strawberry printed band aids, making up his mind. He smiled humorlessly at his own actions. The lady in the cashier would probably look at him weirdly again for buying so much band aids (in kid’s design no less). But he dare say he needed it, especially right now.
Kyuhyun finally got his wish after all. His dorm mate was now officially Seohyun’s boyfriend.
Sungmin wasn’t sure how that happened. He remembered Kyuhyun telling him all about it the other day when he came home practically skipping and floating and telling the whole world that he was finally together with the woman of his dreams. Of course he congratulated him, told him he deserved this after pining for the girl for more than a year or so, and that he wished them all the best. Kyuhyun grinned widely and even hugged him, never seeing the way tears gathered in his eyes.
He cried himself to sleep that night.
That was two weeks ago. Sungmin was placing band aids over his heart every morning since then…trying to help his heart heal. Of course he knew it doesn’t really work that way, but every time he removes the printed plaster from his skin, he believed at least a little of the hurt would be taken…and soon if he was diligent enough, the hurt would be quite bearable again.
He wasn’t sure if the box he bought right now was enough, but it was a start.
“Sungmin? Lee Sungmin?”
He blinked at the person who called his name. Eyebrows frowning in confusion, but a second later his eyes widened and for the first time in what felt like forever, he felt a small smile dawning on his lips. “Donghae…Lee Donghae” he said softy, waiting for the man to come up to him.
“It is you!” Donghae exclaimed, smiling. “Wow, it’s been a while hyung. How have you been?”
“I’m okay” he answered, shrugging. He saw the way Donghae stared at that and he hoped he looked convincing enough. “When did you come back?” he asked instead. Last he saw the younger male he was going for a job training somewhere far away. Even in another country, he heard.
“Just a month ago…I missed this place” he said. Sungmin chuckled, he hasn’t changed at all. Donghae stared at his cart and raised an eyebrow at the peculiar package among the basic grocery items. “…that much band aids?” the now blond Sungmin failed to stop the blush spreading on his cheeks, he forgot Donghae knew about his little band aid belief.
“It’s for…uhm…emergency purposes” he tried, but the look on Donghae’s face said that he was not buying his explanation at all. Thankfully he decided not to ask further on the subject, and simply asked on other matters instead. Unlike Sungmin, Donghae wasn’t studying anymore, but was working (evidently he was working out too, he pouted a little at the way his body had buffed up nicely) now. That didn’t seem to bother
