Chapter 3
Summer Spirit [Looking for Co-Author! Inbox me if Interested!]Nana stared at the Honda's in shock. "Y-you're leaving me?!" she practically shrieked. "No, no,no! Nothing like that, it's just that I have
to visit my brother and his family for a little while, besides you're grown now, and the boys are here in case anything happens." Mrs.
Honda smiled trying to reassure the young girl. "They're the ones I worry about." Nana mumbled. Mr. Honda sighed "Under different
circumstances I wouldn't let you be alone with six boys, but in the past few weeks that they've been living here, nothing has happened.
They're good kids, just like you dear." He ruffled her hair affectionately and picked up the last of his wife's bags out to the car. "We'll
be back in a week, there is enough groceries and we left some money. Call if you need anything." Nana's heart sank as she watched
the car disappear into the horizon as they drove off. She walked to the cherry blossom tree near the house, and climbed into its
branches, sitting in one of the higher boughs. This was her own little hiding place, where in the midst of all the blossoms she could feel
safe. It was true for the past few weeks the guys had been fully integrated into the Honda's family. Nana did get to know them, but still
she felt that something inside of her didn't fully trust them yet. She just couldn't quite place her finger on it. Maybe it was that incident
with Luhan? She never really got an explanation on that picture, but she wasn't comfortable asking him about it outright. Nana's heard
skipped a beat as she felt the weight of the tree shift. "Someone else is climbing up here." She held her breath hoping the other
wouldn't notice her presence. She then heard them singing in a soft tone, a sweet and sad song in Mandarin.
Dàochù yīn yīn de chénchén de lěng kōngqì xiànrùle chēng wèi líbié de téngtòng lǐ
Kuàiyào zhìxí tòng dào wúlì wéi yǒu nǐ de xiàoróng cái shì zhèn tòng jì uh
Wǒ de rènxìng yuèguǐ xīwàng wǒmen de gùshì yǒu jiéwěi
Don’t cry bùxiǎng nǐ bēishāng luò lèi nìngyuàn nǐ duì wǒ shì lěngmò de baby
Translation:
This dark and lifeless air is asive, I am caught in this pain called ‘parting’
I’m about to suffocate, it hurts so much that I lost my strength
The only remedy is your smile, my willful transgression, I hope our story has a conclusion
Don’t cry, I don’t want you to be hurt and shed tears
I’d rather you be cold and indifferent to me baby
Nana understood every word and she felt as though she could feel the heartbreak in each note. Then there was a loud creak and the
singing stopped. Another loud 'crack' echoced from the tree "It can't take the weight of us both it's going to-" before her thought was
even completed the brach snapped dropping both its occupants onto the grass below. Nana held her head groaning slightly, when she
looked at her hand a red smudge greeted her eyes. "N-Nana-san!" Chen exclaimed. Said girl blushed Oh this is so awkward! He'll think
I was eavesdropping on him!" "Are you alright?" He asked looking at her with concern. "Uh, yeah. A twig must have scratched me that's
all." She mumbled in reply. Chen got up and dusted himself off, then held a hand out toward her. Nana took it, flinching as she got up.
Her right ankle throbbed in pain. She hissed slightly. Chen put an arm around her waist and brough Nana's over his shoulders and
lifted as much of her weight off her injured leg as he could. Nana felt her heart beat faster at the sudden contact with him. Staying up in
the tree for so long must have affected her, because for some reason she kept thinking she smelled cherry blossoms. When they were
inside he carefully placed Nana on the counter and rummaged in the kitchen drawers for the first-aid kit. He bent down and began to
bandage her ankle, slipping off her shoes gently. His forehead restd slightly on her knee, the movement from his hands she could feel
all the way to her own skin. Nana gripped the edge of the counter, the disenfectant wasn't the only thing that made her flesh feel like
there were pins all over. Her stomach felt like thousands for flying insects had decided to live there. Why was se so nervous around
him? "T-That song.....was...really nice." The words just seemed to come out automatically in the silence. He gave the bandages one
last tug, straightened up and met Nana's hesitant gaze. A small smile tugged at the corners of his lips.
"Thanks," He replied. "I was singing it for this girl I know...."
