Chapter 1

Summer Spirit [Looking for Co-Author! Inbox me if Interested!]

A/N Since this story mostly takes place in Japan, there will be the use of Japanese honorifics here and there.

For those of you who don't know they include

chan, a suffix for a close friend or person younger than you

kun, another friendly suffix usually for a boy your age or younger

san, Sometimes reffereing to 'Miss' or "Mr" when speaking formally to someone your age, older or a person you are not familiar with.

dono, a very formal suffix for someone of a higher rank or age than the speaker

Family terms:

Okaa-san (mother)

Otou-san (father)

Onii-chan/san (Older brother or male, similar to the Korean 'Oppa' or 'Hyung')

Onee-chan/san (Older sister or female, similar to Korean 'Unni' or 'Noona')

Japanese honorifics only depend on who the speaker is adressing (whether female/male/higher status)

For the speaker they are gender neutral:

E.G a girl or boy can call an older female 'Onee-san'

Thoughts are in Blue and speaking in a language other than Japanese is in Red.

Nana sat next to Mrs. Honda at the table in the livingroom. The six boys sat from tallest to shortest from the right to left. "Hi, uhm....my

name's Kris" The tallest said introducing himself. His dark black hair and eyes gave him a somewhat intimidating look. "I'm Tao" said

the one next to him. His piercing eyes were even worse than Kris'. "My name is Luhan and this is Lay" A boy with big doe-like eyes and

blond hair said. he one to his left snapped out of his daze "Oh right....I'm.....Lay" Kris sighed "We already said that" "OH really?" Lay

seemed like a bit of an airhead to Nana, but his warm expression and cute dimples made up for it....almost."I'm Chen" said the next one

to Nana, smiling. Hesitantly she returned his smile. "And I'm Xiumin," said the cute one at the very end. "So what brings you boys here

to Japan? And where are you from?" Mrs. Honda asked. "We're on vacation, and we're from Beijing, but Chen and Xiumin are originally

from Korea," Kris replied. "Ah I see. Oh did you know Nana here is also from Korea? She's another tenant at my house,

Mrs. Honda smiled and affectionatly pinched Nana's cheek "Although she's more like a daughter to me than anything~!" "Okaa-san!"

Nana protested flushing slighty in embarassment. "Nice to meet you." The six chourused and bowed their heads slightly. Nana returned

the gesture. Oh sure the guys seem polite now, but once they move in, they'll show their true colours. "Oh really? I thought she was

actually your daughter." Luhan commented smiling at Nana. "Yeah, we get that alot." Nana replied curtly. There was a bit of a silence.

Thne Tao spoke up "So how old are you?" "I'm sixteen" Nana replied. "Oh that means you're the same age as me then." The boy said,

for some reason he reminded Nana of a Panda. "Tao is the youngest of us all. Chen and Lay are seventeen, Luhan, Kris and I are

eighteen." Xiumin explained. "Hmmm." Nana hummed in reply. She was getting a bit impatient with this whole 'introduction' act. "Well

here is the nessesary paperwork." Mrs. Honda said as she slid the stack of forms across the wooden table. Kris took them and quickly

filled them out, passing them along to the other guys to sign their parts. Handing them back to Mrs. Honda she smiled while looking

them over. "Well now that all the formalities are over, let's all learn to be one big happy family~!" Nana smiled uncomfortably along with

the six boys. You can't expect complete strangers to become close just with the signing of a few papers. The guys got up and went to

unpack their luggage. "Okaa-san," Said Nana "I'm going to go for a walk" Nana usually adressed Mrs. Honda with a motherly honorific

since the Honda's took her in like their own daughter. "ALright but don't aty out too long, you have to help me prepare dinner for our

new guests." Nana sighed as she stepped out into the fresh summer air. She walked away from the house and near the small cherry

blossom orchard that was nearby. Climbing into the boughs of the pale pink flowers she sighed once more, wishing she could stay

there forever. The whole moving in situation had upset her a bit. Why did she have to share everything? It sounded selfish but it was

true. When she was still in Korea with her family, everything of hers was taken by her older sister Sah Eh. She had nothing to call her

own. So when Nana had the chance, she transferred to Japan alone so she would be able to find herself without being in her sister's

shadow. But now what was going to happen? Nana would have to give up what she had with the Honda's for these people.Nana swore

to herself that she would never let anything of hers be stolen from her again. So what was she to do now? Would she calmly let the six

guys barge in and ruin the life she had to re-build again. Nana sighed. Her mother's words echoing in her mind.

~FLASBACK~

"What do you mean 'moving out'?" Nana's mother cried as she looked at her already packed suitcase in her hand.

"I'm tired of always being second choice." Nana replied.

"What do you mean?! Your father and I have always made sure you got what you needed."

"But you never bothered to ask what I wanted."

Mrs. Kim raised her hand and slapped Nana across the face. Her head turned to the left because of the force of the action. Nana clenched her teeth to numb the throbbing in her cheek. Without another word she turned her back on her mother and her old life.

~END OF FLASHBACK~

"Nana~ Nana~ Choi Nana!" Mrs. Honda yelled. Snapping out of her thoughts "Coming!" said girl replied walking back to the house.

Nana helped prepare the evening meal with Mrs. Honda in the kitchen as Mr. Honda got aquainted with the six new tenants.

"Listen...Nana-chan..." the older woman started "I know Okaa-san, I'll be good." the younger finished. The old woman beamed and

ruffled Nana's hair affectionately. "Thank you dear, you don't know how good you really are." As dinner went on, Nana learned more

about her new housemates. Tao was a martial arts prodigy, Chen and Xiumin were aspiring singers. Luhan loved soccer and Lay

wanted to be a doctor. When asked what he wanted to do in life Kris cooly responded with "Maybe next time..." Nana felt her eye twitch

at this response. What the hell did that even mean?! They all seemed like....good people. However for some reason she didn't like

them. But why? "May I be excused?" She asked sudden;y "Oh, of course Nana-chan." Mr. Honda said. "Thank you." she bowed and

went up to he room. She went out to her balcony and looked at the stars. The Honda's lived in the outskirts of Tokyo, where there was

just the perfect mix or urban and rural things. The houses were nice, but they were away from the hustle and bustle of a cramped city.

For the first time in her life, at night Nana could see actual stars. In Seoul all there was were helicoptor and airplane lights.

She let out a shaky breath, it had been so long since she thought of her family.

Forgetting was the only thing she wanted.

Nana went back inside and slumped onto her bed, tears rolling down her cheeks and onto her pillow.
