We looked at the night scenery, it was really pretty; there were stars and the moon was full today.

 

I looked down at the sea.

It was dark, and the waves were quite strong, it always seemed as if it would engulf me.

The sea breeze blew at me and my hair went in all directions.

 

I pressed them down and silently cursed the wind for ruining my hair.

Then, he gave me a rougher kiss.

 

My mind has blanked out and I was totally in his control.

 

“Stop…”

I pushed him away.

 

He looked at me in surprise and followed by a painful expression on his face.

He laughed coldly and repeatedly punched the metal rail of the cruise.

 

I widened my eyes at him.

I don’t know what to do…

 

Tears fell from my eyes as I went to him and held his injured hand.

 

His knuckles were red.

 

He fell on his knees and the wind blew again, making his hair messy.

 

“What’s wrong-”

He hugged me once more.

 

I cupped his face and made him look at me.

His eyes were red.

“Don’t cry, please…” I said to him, yet tears were falling down from my face as well, on to his brown hair.

 

“Rin…” He released his strong grip and stood up.

My tears won’t stop as he spoke.

 

“Rin, don’t cry. Stop. I’m sorry...” He wiped my tears with his thumb.

 

“I can’t stop…I don’t know why…” The more he told me not to, more tears came out.

 

My heart hurts a lot.

It felt as if it was being torn apart.

 

“Kris, we met before…?”

“Yes...”

“Very.”

 

He took out a box and gave it to me.

 

I finally managed to control my tears and opened the box.

The pink jewel shone brightly.

 

My eyes closed and images flashed through my head.

 

 

Kris and I met for the first time.

I was washed up ashore.

 

His face was the first thing I saw.

 

Next, was my legs.

 

I traded my fins with the human witch doctor for a pair of legs.

 

She told me that the spell was only temporary.

I broke his heart and I went to the deck of the cruise.

As the clock struck, my fins came back and I was in mermaid form again.

 

I looked at them and cried hard.

 

My tears fell on to the floorboards of the deck.

They were pink and as shimmering as if pearls were mixed into them.

 

I dived back into the sea but my head was knocked against a rock.

 

I had no idea what happened after that.

 

I was adopted into a family.

I had legs but I don’t know why…

 

I hugged Kris.

 

“I remember…” Tears flowed out and they were pink this time.

His face was pale and his lips were losing its colour.

 

“Kris…stay with me!” I shook him hard, shouting his name over and over again.

 

“Rin…Accept the fate.” His voice sounded really weak.

 

It was as if…

 

No. I’m NOT going to think of that.

 

“Kris. Please!”

 

“Your legs. I committed suicide by cutting myself and jumped into the sea. I did the right thing…” He coughed and coughed.

 

“Stop talking…Please…”

We reached the hospital and I paced back and forth outside the surgery room.
