Yongguk 72

B.A.P. Oneshots II

“Here, take a look at this fine young man,” your mother handed you the picture of the person you were to be married to. You had long faced your fate but there was something that made you cautious. What if the person your mother chose for you wouldn’t make you happy?

You knew better than to throw a fit. Your mother has long explained to you the consequences as well as what was going to happen. You were allowed to meet him and to judge. If you really didn’t like him, then she would reconsider. But if there were no glaringly wrong alarms, you were to stick to him.

As you took the picture, she shot you a look. You knew she was watching carefully for your reaction. You looked at it and immediately laughed out. “Mom, where did you pick this guy up from?”

The guy in the picture was extremely attractive, at least from what you could see of him. He was standing precariously near the edge of a ledge and had on a denim jacket. He had a nice chest you decided and looked tall. But why were his eyes covered with sunglasses? If anything, he looked more like a model than a guy your mom would expect you to marry, or rather a guy who would marry you.

She beamed proudly. “He’s’ a great catch, isn’t he?”

You laughed a little. “Um, yeah. If you were a supermodel or something. Who is this guy and mom, which magazine did you cut him out from?”

Your mother reared her head back in offense. “Well excuse me, young lady. I worked really hard to get you this boy. Do you know how many other mothers want him for their daughters? I had to sing your praises to his mom. Believe you me, she was not an easy woman to deal with.”

You looked at her incredulously. “Yeah, I’m sure. And how long did it take for you to cut this? Were you fighting with the other moms for the last issue? I promise, other magazines would have hot guys too.”

There was a silence and your mother looked at you. “You’re so stubborn. I knew you wouldn’t believe me. That’s why I arranged for you to go meet him.”

Your jaw dropped. “So you’re saying this guy exists?”

“What, do I look like I want an imaginary son-in-law?”

You dropped your head to look at the picture again. Your heart skipped a couple of beats. How had your mother land him and what type of person would he be? You frowned a little. Someone who looked like this could not be anyone good on the inside, you decided.

Your mother dumped you unceremoniously at the same marina where the picture was probably taken. You wandered around, trying to see who the guy was but everyone looked the same to you.

You scratched your neck nervously. This guy was not leaving a good impression if he couldn’t even make the effort to be at a date on time. You whistled a little and looked around. The water looked really clean. You leaned forward a little, debating whether you wanted to run your hands through it or not.

“I wouldn’t do that if I were you.” You nearly dropped in. You twirled around and the man in the magazine, the picture you meant, was standing there. He was smiling hugely at you and you liked what you saw. He was adorable and had a nice smile. He wasn’t wearing sunglasses so you could see his eyes were warm and trustworthy. He was also holding a kid. Your eyebrows rose a little.

“I’m Yongguk. My mom held me up. She insisted I took my cousin. I guess this is her way of, er, testing whether you would be good with kids or not.” He blushed and your heart plummeted. You were a er for shy boys.

The little boy in his arms wiggled and whined, wanting out of his embrace and Yongguk shushed him. “Say hi to the noona.” The boy pouted and shook his head.

You held your arms out for him and took him cautiously. At the exchange of arms, the toddler looked curiously at you. His eyes were huge as you reached into your pocketbook and gave him a lollipop. “Do you like lemon flavored candy?”

As you rocked the child, hearing him laugh, you noticed Yongguk was still looking at you. Your eyes met and you dropped your gaze. “Ah, sorry. I forgot-”

“That I existed?” There was a humorous tone to his voice. He stood a little closer and you could smell his cologne. He bit his lip shyly and then winked at you. “I think that’d be a major issue if this happens when we have kids.”

You contained a squeal and decided, your mother had great taste. You thanked your lucky stars that she was able to land him. You looked at Yongguk and smiled a little. “Is it bad that I already think this is going to work out?”

He laughed and shook his head, taking his cousin from you and letting the little boy to the ground. He took your hand in his and laughed again. “Not at all.”
