Chapter 25 -- Happy Ending
Monsters: The MousetrapSeungyub kept calling Hana’s cell phone, her apartment was empty and she never slept outside. She had been MIA for the past two weeks and he had no idea where she went. He had to fear the worst and she wasn’t answering.
He heard rattling at the door of her apartment and he grabbed a bat to defend himself. “This is my place.” He heard her voice and he put the bat down.
She looked at him in surprise and said, “Seungyub? What are you doing here?”
“What happened to you?” He asked back, “You were gone for two weeks. Did you get taken? What happened?”
She looked at the guy who walked in behind her and smiled, “Nothing. I’m fine.” She answered.
“Who is that? And are you sure you weren’t just chasing down a lead on the case?” He asked.
“A friend,” Hana answered and she held his hand, “And you can close all of those cases, I think you’ll find the girls are back where they belong.” She told him.
Seungyub knew how to take a hint, he simply nodded and got out of there as quick as he could.
Hana gestured for Kikwang to sit on her couch while she rummaged through her refrigerator for something to drink. She managed to find two juice cans and gave him one, he looked at it strangely before he opened it and took a sip.
“So, going to reveal all your secrets to me now?” She asked him.
"One at a time." He replied, "But yes."
"How did you find the girls?" She asked him, that was the question she had yet to solve on her own.
"I didn't do any of the work. The pipe did. I had to walk around the city and smoke it in the shadows until I got a girl's attention. It knew who the prettiest girls were, not me." Kikwang answered her straight. They both took another sip from their sodas and Hana moved to sit next to him.
"So the pipe knew Anna was a too?" She asked.
"Yes, the spell knows what was required of it. I was just a courier." He said.
Hana turned to him and looked in his eyes, "What happened between you and Hyosung?"
He looked away from her and sighed, "Something that is my fault, but it can't be helped because of the way I was raised."
"I don't get it." Hana said, still waiting for a real explanation.
"I was raised not to go out with a woman that's older than you. And given the time I was born, it was followed strictly. Hyosung is older than me by three years and she still pursued me. I would find a younger girl to date and Hyosung would torment that girl to leave me. I eventually started dating in secret and I had found a girl who I thought was perfect at the time. But it turned out to be one of Hyosung's friends. It was on that day she made me into a monster." Kikwang explained thoroughly.
"She did that to you? Hyosung could perform magic back then?" Hana asked incredulously.
"No, if she did, she would have been an outcast in our society. I don't know how she got the spell honestly, but she managed to change me into that monster to keep me by her side." Kikwang said, "But I'm glad she did." He grinned at Hana.
"Oh? Why?" She asked in confusion.
He wrapped his arms tight around her, "Because if she didn't, then I would have never met you." He said.
"Oh gosh," Hana rolled her eyes at the cheese. "Well, do you want to help me run this detective business? I don't get paid much. Though, I'm assuming I'll be getting some paychecks now that the girls are back." She asked him.
"Sure, I can also work another job too, if we need money. I'm a man of many talents." He said proudly.
"Oh really? Like what?" She tilted her head slightly.
He smirked, "Some of them you'll just have to wait and see."
