I'm Me, Just Not...Me
Description
21 year old photographer Kim Myungsoo thinks that after being the actual murderee, the second worst thing to be in a murder case is an eye witness. Especially when the murderer isn't wearing his damn mask, because then later on, the witness has to go through this stupid thing called the witness protection program and roleplay as some 17 year old high schooler named Kim Myungyeol for about the rest of eternity (or until the idiotic killer gets caught).
Or maybe that's just Myungsoo's awful life.
Yeah, it probably is.
Foreword
“Kim Myungyeol,” the chief said, pushing a photograph towards Myungsoo. “That will be your new name. You are a 17 year old happy, bubbly boy born in Seoul. You live in your own apartment because your parents like traveling overseas, but they think it’s better for you to maintain an education in one school and not move around anymore. You have no siblings and no living relatives that you know of.”
“17?!” Myungsoo screeched. “But I’m 21! I don’t want to go back to my teenage years! Those were the worst years of my life –“
“Look, the killer knows you’re out there somewhere,” the chief said in that low, scary voice of his. “He knows that you’re old enough to work, drive, and own your own car. The last place he’s going to look for you is at a high school, you realize that.”
Myungsoo sneered, settling back down on the chair. his life, his profession. Of course he had to work as a photographer at a modeling agency, of course the model he was shooting had an obsessive ex-boyfriend, and of freaking course that ex-boyfriend had to berserk and want to kill the model. And of course (fate would never give him a chance to breathe) Myungsoo had to walk in while the girl was being murdered by the dude without a mask on. Seriously, who in their right mind would commit a crime in an inhabited building without a mask on?
“Besides,” the chief continued, “you could pass for a kid. Look, Myungsoo, I know you don’t want to do this but you have to. It’s for your own protection, I hope you know that.”
Saying nothing back, Myungsoo just grumbled and kicked at the bottom of the metal table. “What kind of name is Myungyeol anyway? Why couldn’t I have a cool name like ‘L’ or something. Geez.”
“That’s a terrible name,” the chief laughed, standing back and taking Myungsoo’s file from the table. “It makes you sound like some try-hard K-pop singer…oh, right. Right. Speaking of K-pop singers and their ways, we’ll have dye your hair and cut it – it’s too long anyways. Learn how to use some of that trendy makeup stuff, too, because you’re gonna need to use a ton of it.”
“What?!” Myungsoo sat up forward, his eyes nearly bulging out. “Cut my hair? My hair represents me! Have you ever seen an artistic person without long hair before?! NO, because they don’t exist! I need my long hair!”
The chief just gave him a grossed out look, examining Myungsoo’s shoulder-length hair. “Yeah. Even if you weren’t going under the Witness Protection Program, I’d want your hair cut anyways.”
basically what happened is that INFINITE IS LIKE AN HOUR AWAY FROM ME RIGHT NOW OK AND I CAN'T SEE THEM so i just sat there for the longest time thinking of ways i'd be able to meet kim myungsoo and for him to go to my school (realistically speaking here) and then i thought, what if he witnessed a crime and the killer knew he did. THEN he'd have to go through the witness protection program AND HE MIGHT END UP IN MY HIGH SCHOOL ASDFGHJL
so since it's obviously not possible, i'm just gonna let lee sungyeol live out my dream in a fanfic because uh duh, that's what fanfics are for.
(i have so many going on rn but that's ok i'll balance them all out somehow)
and yeah korea doesn't have a witness protection program (or do they? idk i didn't do any legal studies before writing this ._____.) but bear with me here ok yeah thanks
just a litle reminder ya know 'cause this is evie so please don't expect too much because then you're gonna be let down a LOT. yeah kthxbye.
