PROLOGUE

“Last stop, everyone get off.” The driver said as he pulled into the front of Busan Station. One by one the passengers slowly made their way out of the vehicle and into the nearly broken down building. “You have to get off now Miss,” he spoke looking in the rear view mirror. She was a young woman probably in her early or mid-twenties. She continues staring out the window almost as if she was in her own world and forgotten that everyone had already left but her. “Are you deaf?” He impatiently looks at his wrist watch. It was already six o’clock, “this is the last stop for today.” The young woman left with her bag without saying a word. She continued after the old grandfathers and grandmothers into the station.

It was about to get dark and she needed to find a place to stay for the night. One by one the old grandfathers and grandmothers start to leave with happy family members that came to welcome them back home. Soon, she was left by herself alone on one of the few benches with her disgusting tea that she got from the vending machine. It tastes like sewage. “Guess I have to walk and find somewhere to stay for the night.” She walked out of the building, not forgetting to throw away the disgusting sewage tea.

Mindlessly, she walked with no desire destination. She didn’t think and calmly went where her two little feet took her until it came to a halt. She looked up and saw that she was staring out into the open water, looking around her surrounding she realizes where she was. It was a small little lake off at the side of a small village. She could see the bright, colorful lights that filled the city of Seoul on other side of the lake. She rested herself onto the soft grass and prop her legs up close to her chest and continued to stare at the bright lights in front of her. It hasn’t been that long but it seems to be so, she thought. She must have been day dreaming that she didn’t even notice that a person had plopped himself right next to her.

“Haven’t you ever heard that it’s rude to stare at someone?” he calmly said looking towards the destination of her eyes. The only light that was shine were the stars and moon between them. “It’s only rude if I was staring right at a person,” she finally said.

He let out a small chuckle and turns his attention to her before turning back to the lights, “Are you running away as well?”

“More or less. Depends on how you look at it,” she turns to look at him. His eyes were staring back at hers. It made her feel uncomfortable but at the same time she felt perfectly fine being with this unknown stranger, “What about you? Are you running away also?”

“I’m about the same as you.”

She tore herself away, afraid that she would be into his eyes. Even though it was too dark to tell, she knew that his eyes were the most beautiful that she has ever seen in the longest time. “More than running away, I said I’m on a journey instead.”

“A journey,” he eyes still on her even though he can barely see her, “what kind of journey?”

She looked up at the shining white stars,

“A journey of letting go.”
