She stared, seeing nothing, eyes glassy. Her mind, a deep dark abyss consuming her entire being. 

He sighed. 

“Ae Lyn-ah,” he uttered her name.

The room was white. The lone figure sat on the bed on the side. The sun’s rays danced on her pale skin reflecting on her dark glossy hair that hung limply on her head. She sat, ramrod straight facing the window, a stone figure. 

No movement. 

No indication that she heard anything. 

He walked forward, approaching her, sitting beside her on the bed, the sheets so pristinely white, not a wrinkle in place.

Innocence.

“Ae Lyn-ah, the sun’s high up on the clouds today. The grass is green and the flowers you helped Umma plant has blossomed wonderfully. They've gotten so pretty and they smell so wonderful. Ae Lyn-ah the weather has been so wonderful the past month. Get better soon so we can go to the beach together. You still haven’t seen me ride the big waves."

A pause.

"I’ve learned to play the violin for you.” 

His voice was imploring, begging for her to wake up from the trance that she wallowed in.

The white walls of the room seemed too bright for him. The figure beside him, unmoving. 

Silence.

He took a deep breath, held her hands giving her his strength, willing for her to feel his presence.

His love.
