Chapter 42: Decisions

            It was late spring and the CNBLUE members were at my house hanging out.  It had been awhile since they had all been here together because we usually hang out at the dorm.

            “Meh, can we go to your room?  I’m sleepy,” Minhyuk said.  All of us were sprawled all over the furniture in the living room.  I nodded and gladly made my way up the staircase.  Minhyuk followed close behind me and whispered into my ear, “You wear it everyday?”  I nodded as I opened the door to my room.  He chuckled.  “Good,” he said as everyone shuffled into my bedroom.  Minhyuk practically fell onto the bed the moment he got into the room.

            “Hey, what’s this?” Yonghwa asked as he picked up the glass heart that Jonghyun had given me for Christmas.

            “Careful, don’t break it!  Oppa gave that to me,” I told Yonghwa as he turned it over in his hands.

            “Geez, you guys.  It looks like one of those paperweights you have at weddings,” Yonghwa said while looking through my stuff.  I was used to Yonghwa snooping around my thing, so I didn’t really try to hide anything from them anymore.  “Hmm?  Hey, look Jonghyun.  Kang Minhyuk’s Number One Fan,” Yonghwa said while waving the badge in the air.  Jungshin was laughing and Minhyuk started t blush.  “Did he give you this for Christmas?  I never did find out what he gave you,” Yonghwa snickered.

            “Nope, I made that for myself,” I said while sticking my tongue out at Yonghwa’s face.  “Minhyuk-ah gave me a necklace,” I said while jumping onto the bed.  My room wasn’t big, so it was a little bit cramped.  Four tall men couldn’t fit in there without it feeling a little squishy.  “Oppa, you can sit here,” I said while pointing to a tiny empty spot on the bed.  Minhyuk was taking up most of the space on the bed, and Yonghwa was sitting at my desk.  Jungshin, the maknae, was sitting comfortably on the floor.  Jonghyun sat on top of Minhyuk.

            Mnhyuk groaned, “Hyung, you’re kind of heavy.”  He squirmed while trying to push Jonghyun off, so Jonghyun sat on the edge of the bed beside me.  A loud ringing noise interrupted the silence.

            “Yoboseyo,” Yonghwa said into the phone.  He nodded several times and murmured things into the phone.  Once he hung up, he turned to face Jonghyun.  He looked at him seriously and said, “Jonghyun, you have to decide soon.”  Jonghyun looked confused for a moment, but then he understood.  He nodded and then smiled at me.

            “Don’t worry about it,” he told me as I looked at him questioningly.  “Hmmm, what do you want for your birthday?” he said as he tried to change the subject.  I sighed.  I couldn’t help but feel that Jonghyun was hiding something from me.  It hurt, but I knew he had his reasons.

            “Oh yeah, your birthday is soon!” Yonghwa exclaimed.  Jungshin snickered and I pondered Jonghyun’s question.

            “Honestly, I have everything I could ever want,” I admitted.  Yonghwa smiled at me knowingly.

            “Ha, kiddo.  You’re a simple one; that’s why we like you,” Yonghwa said.  I didn’t really get what he was trying to say, but I smiled at him anyways.

            “Why do you make it so difficult for me to get you presents?” Minhyuk said more to himself than to me.  I laughed and turned to face him.

            “All you have to do is be here; that’s all I need for a present,” I told Minhyuk who was now sitting cross-legged on the bed.  He blushed and plopped back down onto the bed.

            “They’re so perfect together,” I thought as I watched Misun sit on the bed with Minhyuk.  She even made a fan badge for him…

            “Oppa, you can sit here,” she said as she patted an empty space next to her.  I smiled weakly and sat directly on top of Minhyuk.

            “Hyung, you’re kind of heavy,” Minhyuk groaned as he squirmed underneath my weight.  He pushed me off, so I decided to sit next to Misun.  Just then, Yonghwa’s cellphone started to ring loudly.

            “Yoboseyo,” he said into the phone.  He talked quietly to whoever was on the other line.  He hung up and looked straight into my eyes.  “Jonghyun, you have to decide soon,” he said seriously.  I was slightly confused, but it hit me a moment later.  The deal that we got while he was filming at Jeju Island.  We hadn’t heard much from the American manager, but I suppose he was becoming impatient.  I still hadn’t decided whether I wanted to go to America, but I nodded slightly.  I flashed Misun a weak smile so she wouldn’t worry about me.

            “Hmmm, what do you want for your birthday?” I asked.  Misun’s eyebrows were tightly knit together in concentration.  She was starting to worry, so I changed the subject.

            “Oh yeah, your birthday is soon!”  Yonghwa exclaimed while trying to play along.  He glanced at me and winked, but I don’t think Misun saw it.

            “Honestly, I have everything I could ever want,” she said.  Yonghwa grinned from ear to ear.  He was obviously pleased with that answer.  I couldn’t help but smile a little bit too.

            “Ha, kiddo.  You’re a simple one; that’s why we like you,” Yonghwa said cryptically.  I knew exactly whom he meant by “we.”

            “Why do you make it so difficult for me to get you presents?” Minhyuk complained to himself.  Misun laughed and faced Minhyuk.

            “All you have to do is be here; that’s all I need for a present,” she told Minhyuk.  I wish that she would tell that to me.  I think that my heart shattered at that moment.  I love Minhyuk, don’t get me wrong, but I can’t bear to see them together like that.  I knew my answer.
