BLOODLUST

Hyeju unlocked the front door and was a tad disappointed to come home to an empty apartment.

Kai was nowhere to be found inside the four corners, so he was probably at work since it was already past 7.   But was Kai even healthy enough to even stand without having to sway from dizziness? He hadn't been himself since a few days ago and Hyeju of all people obviously noticed that.   Aside from that, she had a crazy gut feeling that something wasn't right.   That something terrible was going to happen. And she wasn't more sure her whole life.   She couldn't possibly be at ease with this kind of anxiousness dwelling in her thoughts. And so, she kept her focus fixed on the hands of the clock passing after every second.   Hyeju didn't even notice how long she'd been awake but it was long enough for her eyes to grow tired and red. But still, she waited and kept waiting.   That is until a call arrived.   Ring!   _____     Earlier that same night, Kris was just innocently heading down the usual street on his way home from walking Hyeju.   His grin was ear to ear as he recalled their 'date' earlier. But his smile literally turned upside down when he spotted a crowd of people gathering at the opposite side of the road.   Curiosity got the best of him and he crossed the street only to find a certain person on the pavement. Correction, vampire.   From his perspective, Kai seemed paler and skinnier than usual. Even his veins were popping out, looking much like a sickly person who escaped the hospital or something.   *What the hell happened here?* Kris cursed mentally.   He could tell just by looking at the situation here that something seemed off. I mean anyone could see that however there was a deeper reason linked to Kai looking half-dead like this.    And Kris, although he didn't know what justified such an occurrence, felt guilty. Like he was somehow a part of all this mess.   But why? He had no part in this, right?   The crowd was in shock. Some took pictures on their cellphones while some just made fun of the poor boy.   "Someone call an ambulance!" An old lady shouted.   Kris's ears perked up. *He can't go to a hospital! They'll find out about that there's something wrong with him!* In an instant, he crouched down beside Kai and threw one of his arms across his own shoulder.   "Yah, where are you taking that boy? He needs to be taken to the hospital!" The same old lady shrieked at Kris.   "Maybe he's a kidnapper!" A man from the crowd shouted and the people began to snarl mean comments at Kris. That was what he got for trying to help? Some nice citizens they sure were.   "I'm his friend, I'll take responsibility for him." Kris threw back, giving them a look. "If you think I'll do anything to harm him then feel free to report me. I don't give a ." He was surprisingly calm as opposed to their tone, thus keeping them all shut.   Kris dragged Kai up as he called for a cab. He let Kai in first and followed after, instructing the driver the directions to his condo.   When they arrived, he immediately laid Kai down on the sofa. But as he was just about to leave Kai's side, a huge migraine occurred, accompanied with his vision being blurred. He slumped down and groaned while he grabbed fistfuls of his hair.   It was happening again. His hands shivered and his body shook uncontrollably. All he could see was black that seemed to stretch on and on. But there was something else this time, he could see the flashing of crimson-colored liquid through the black abyss.   It was weird. Throughout his existence, he had never experienced things like this. He led a pretty normal life. But during the time when Kai came along, Kris had been having strange dreams that he couldn't seem to interpret.   The one thing he knew was, he had a secret locked up inside him, a bloody one. But the problem was even he himself didn't know the answer deep within.   Maybe it had a connection to his mind randomly blacking out and not remembering what happens afterwards. He was determined to find out this time but the strong force just seemed to take control of everything, his body, his consciousness, his actions.   Kris slowly stood as he could feel his blood rushing in his veins. The adrenaline was so much
