i'm not a pro, or anything. but i just wanted to share some of my noob tips and reminders. ouo
* be patient. i know that some are impatient and want to finish fast with a good layout. and sometimes, your computer and net hates you, and interrupts you in uploading or making a layout. it's okay, just try and try again. and when you finish it, it looks good, right? i mean, those kind of things happened to me a lot, and it's really normal. so yeah, be patient.
* roam around. find a good inspiration for your layouts. it doesn't have to be plagiarized. you could wander around random shops, just don't copy it. you could also listen to random songs; english, japanese, korean, etc., any language is okay. classy and touching quotes, there's few in tumblr, or just search in google. it can also be your favorite movie or cartoon character. anime, cartoon, movies, minions, etc.
* copying / plagiarizing. plagiarizing is bad, bad, really bad. it's one of the things people hate, yet they love to do it. it's not like we mind you using our layouts for your shop's description/foreword or for pick-ups in graphic shops. but puh-lease, don't use it for your customers' request, and credit it as 'yours'. i mean, it's stupid. seriously.
* fonts. i'm really annoyed at how people think we can see the font they downloaded in their computer. it's theirs not ours. we don't share the same computer, so we don't have the same fonts downloaded in our computers. but if it's on purpose, at least make it pretty.
* keep it short. some people, like me, hate it long. yeah, long layouts are amusing 'cause it's full of informations, but it's annoying too. i don't have any reasons why, but... it's just.. annoying. especially if it's full of gifs and pictures, it makes you go 'rawr'.
* spacing. spaces between letters and lines, where'd it go? squishy words are hard to read, it seriously is. that's why i avoid squishing it too much, i can't read it. i know what it's like, i have pretty bad eyes, and the colors don't help.
= colors. colors, this. light font color on a light background makes you go, 'wtf?', and then proceed to highlight it, then you realized they turned the highlighting of texts off, which makes you go, '(ﾉ °益°)ﾉ 彡 ┻━┻'. remember, light-colored text goes well with a dark background. and dark-colored text goes well with a light background.
* music. a lot of people use it. which is getting annoying. it's just like, you're in a horrifying good mood while listening to your favorite song, then a loud booming song suddenly plays. it's really annoying, at least warn us, if possible. and avoid overusing it, like you use it for every chapter you have. same volume, different songs.
* be creative. like what i typed, avoid plagiarizing. draw/sketch some layouts in a piece of paper, go make some blog (don't forget to make it private), and see if you can make the layout you just sketched. if not, just make some modifications.
* check your grammar. you can always check it in ms word. the spelling, i actually won't mind if the spelling's wrong. it's funny, especially 'teh', probably the most common mistake. hiatus, it becomes 'haitus'. anyway, try to correct it. there's this spellchecker in aff, try to use it. it's the one with 'ABC' and a check.
aannd... that's all. it gives me the shivers, knowing that i can actually type normally. orz.
