Andrew’s POV

As Yunho started to talk I became more and more confused. Where the hell is he going with this? Then he

said the words that I will never forget, “I'm Jung Yunho, and I think that Jung Seunghyun (Andrew) may

be my younger half-brother.”

My head whipped around towards his direction immediately and my face was blank.  Did he know the

entire time or was he just doing this so I wouldn’t have to live with strangers? Why didn’t he say anything

before and why now?!

I didn’t know how to feel, my head felt like it was spinning and my body felt heavy. I tried to focus my

attention back to the judge, but I was speechless. This was a mind blowing moment, one for the books

that I would never forget. Yunho and I... are brothers.

I placed my hand over my mouth and felt someone place their hand on my shoulder. Topanga looked at

me with concern and whispered, “You okay?” I nodded.

The judge still looked a little confused, but had a small smile on her face. “Mr. Jung, Mrs. Matthews, and

Ms. Jung, would you be kind enough to come and follow me to my chambers please? Perhaps we can

come up with some sort of arrangement that can we can work out?”

All three nodded and quietly followed her into her chambers where they could all talk in private. Now

there was nothing to do, but to sit and wait in frustration until the judge reveals who will be my new

guardians from now on, or at least until I’m 18...

Meanwhile in the judge’s chambers...

Narrator POV

The judge sat at her desk across from Topanga, Jessica and Yunho watching them very intently as she

listened to their conversation.

Jessica was furious, Not that she didn’t appreciate what he was trying to do, but if he knew this the entire

time, why couldn’t he have told her. It felt like a betrayal. For a while, Yunho didn’t do anything but sit

there and let her scream at him. Her words were eating into him, but it was like he was frozen. “You knew

about this the entire time and didn’t bother to tell anyone?! What the hell is wrong with you?! What, just

because you’re his half brother you feel a sense of entitlement or obligation to take him in?! Where were

you years ago when he needed you?! Now out of nowhere you want to ‘play the hero’, instead of being an

extra that’s needed on set?!”

Yunho finally had enough and started to defend himself, “You /points finger at Jessica/  DO NOT get to

make me the bad guy here because I am not the one who abused him. Besides isn’t it obvious, my father and

your mother were friends at the time, you don’t think that could be possible for them to have gotten

together? Not to mention, you all were saying how much he looked like me last night and my father's

unexplained hatred for you and Krystal? And hell, living with BoA and I would be better than staying

with complete strangers. Who knows how they’ll treat him!”

Jessica scoffed and and rolled her eyes at him, “Oh please! Do you think this is a game, this is his life

we’re talking about! Yesterday the two of you were complete “strangers” to him, your love life was more

important than he was. Then the two of you couldn’t even bother to come on time, need I say more?”

Yunho let out a dark chuckle, “Okay, you wanna play it like that? Fine. Where were you? Your whole

argument has been about how I haven’t been there and how I’m the bad guy, but in reality how innocent

are you?!”  

Before anymore was said Topanga intervened and she was furious that her nostrils were flaring out like a

dragon waiting to fire this place up, “Both of you stop this at once! You’re acting like children when you

should be acting like adults! It’s evident that both of you care deeply about what happens to Andrew, but

let me remind you that this is about Andrew. It all comes down to what’s best for him and if you all fail to

realize that than the both of you shouldn’t be allowed to adopt him. Now shape up or ship out, am

I clear?!”

That was enough to get the both of them to stop bickering. They looked down in shame and apologized to

everyone. Judge Lee tried her best to keep the amusement off of her face, as she cleared

signaling that they would be moving forward with the discussion, “Now then, Mr. Jung, in order to proceed with the adoption,

we’d need both you and Andrew to take a DNA test to see if what you say is true. If that checks out, then I

see no reason why you can’t assume the position of legal guardian.”

Yunho nodded, smiling with excitement, “Yes ma’am, we will go get a DNA test right after this case. How

long would it take to get the results?”

“About a week, for a sibling test.” she smiles “Ms. Jung, do you accept the terms and agreement if Andrew

is Mr. Jung’s half brother?”

Jessica nodded and quietly said, “Yes.”

Judge Lee then stood up and grabbed the files from her desk, “Shall we go and deliver the final verdict?”

Both Yunho and Jessica (who stood when the judge did) nodded and silently followed her out to the

courtroom.

Andrew’s POV

Once everyone had returned back to the courtroom, the crowd within became absolutely silent as we all

waited to hear the judge’s final verdict. The judge cleared , “Will the participants in this trial
please stand?”

I quickly rose to my feet, since I was the only one still sitting. The judge smiled at me from her high chair

and mouthed ‘thank you’ before continuing on, “Let me be clear, the official guardian will not be given

until a DNA test has been confirmed that these two are related by blood. But for the time being, I will

award custody of Andrew Christopher Seunghyun Jung to Jung Yunho and his wife. Court dismissed.”

With a final hit from her gavel, the trial

was over.

We all stepped outside of the courthouse, with stoic looks plastered on our faces and watched as the police

car took my so called “Parents” back to where they belong. And as we watched the car drive away Jessica,

Krystal, and their friends went back to their dorms to give me some alone time with Yunho and BoA.

Yunho went to get the car while BoA and I waited in a comfortable silence. All she did was put her hand

on my shoulder, offering me a form of support.

First, we went to the clinic to get our DNA test done, it took almost an 15 minutes and forever to sit in the

waiting room and wait to be called. The drive to my ‘new home’ however, was also very silent, but not the

comfortable kind, and heavily awkward.

[Fast forward 20 min]
We sat in the living room, the couch was big and the leather covering was smooth. I looked at him sitting

next to me and asked “Why now...Why not sooner?”

His reply was, “It didn’t occur to me to look for you because I didn’t think that it was possible that I’d

have a brother living so close by. A brother that I already met but didn’t give it any thought until I asked

myself what if... I just needed to give it a shot and see the outcome for myself. Wouldn’t you want to know

too?”

I looked into his eyes. “That’s not a good enough answer, but I guess I have to accept it. /looks down at the

ground/ And yes I would like to know too. But you know you can’t lie in court right?”

“Technically I didn’t lie, we just don’t know the truth until we get the results. But at least this way, we’ll be

able to find out.”

“Sure, whatever.” I shook my head and let out a sigh, this was such a big risk he was taking, and it’s for a

nobody like me.

BoA walked in from the kitchen carrying 3 bowls of ice cream handing one to each of us, keeping the bowl

with the most ice cream for herself. She sat in the chair right between Yunho and I. She started eating and

asked with a mouthful “Do we have sprinkles, marshmallows and gummy bears?”

We both started laughing because we couldn’t believe how much ice cream she had fit in that small bowl.

“What? I love ice cream, it brings people together.” She giggled and shrugged her shoulders, smiling at

both of us.

We all looked at each other and burst out laughing. Yunho watched Boa as she ate a big spoon full of ice

cream. “I don’t know how you can eat all that, aren’t you worried about where it’s all going? That you’ll

get sick?” God, he’s such an idiot… why would you even say that to a girl, let alone your wife? Mind you,

it’s his pregnant wife and he doesn’t even know! I literally met her just yesterday and I can see it, all the

signs are there; swollen feet, tiredness, slightly weird cravings, mood swings, morning sickness, and

whatever else pregnant woman have to deal with.

BoA scoffed, her mood changing in an instant, “Jung Yunho, are you calling me fat?!” She said with a

mean streak.

He was surprised how fast her mood had changed, but then again it was BoA he was dealing with. “N-no,

no, I would never call you fat, it’s just… You’ve been eating a lot more recently,  kind of like a… never

mind… still not calling you fat, by the way.” He laughed nervously as he shoveled another spoonful in his

mouth to keep himself from saying another word.

Her eyes narrowed a bit, but in a more playful way. “Kind of like what, Yunho?”

At first he looked like he was about to say it, but changed his mind halfway through. “Like…- No I can’t

say it.” He dropped his head back down and proceeded to eat the rest of his ice cream.

BoA put down her bowl of ice cream and propped her elbow up on her lap, resting her head in the palm

of  her hand, with one eyebrow raised and a sly smile on her lips, “Almost like a pregnant lady.. hmm?”

He choked a little on his ice cream when she said those words to him and put his bowl down, “Well, if I’m

being honest… yeah, you’ve been eating that much. Still not saying you’re fat though.”

They were so entertaining to watch that I had already eaten all of my ice cream. If I was being totally

honest, I wish she gave me a bowl of popcorn instead, but by this point, I could tell he wasn’t going to put

two and two together so I shouted, “Come on, you honestly don’t see it yet?! All the answers are right in

front of you, open your asian eyes and look!”

BoA’s tension broke and she was laughing so hard that she was almost in tears. She looked in my direction

for a brief moment, with a smile plastered on her face,  “When did you find out?”

I couldn’t keep the smirk off my face, “At first, it was hard to say because it could’ve been anything, but

this morning sealed the deal. I could hear you, you were a little loud.”

Boa giggled, her face turning slightly red because I heard her throwing up this morning. My ‘brother’ on

the other hand still looked very confused. “Heard what? Come on guys, this isn’t fair, I’m the only one

who is still clueless about this!”  

BoA smirked evilly, “Well you didn’t compliment my hair last month, so that was a sign you don’t pay

attention to details. But on the brightside... I’ll be right back”.

So, I guess I’m the smart one in this family, and Yunho, judging by these standards is the dumbest…

Andrew was laughing so hard his stomach hurt, “Are you seriously telling me that you have no clue

what’s going on with her?” I asked as BoA left to the bathroom, probably taking pity on you. Yunho shook his head

looking completely lost.

BoA quickly opened the door and rushed back to us “Close your eyes for just a second and open your

hands in front of you, okay.”

Yunho closed his eyes and opens his palms and felt a small box. He opened his eyes and quickly pulled the

ribbon and lifted the lid up. Tears welled up in his eyes as he tried not to cry. The plus sign showed

through the screen on the blue plastic stick that all along it was true.

I smiled and quietly said “I’m happy for the two of you. Congratulations.”

Yunho couldn’t stop smiling and pulled BoA in for a quick passionate kiss, wrapping his arms around her.

“Can you imagine living within you is a little human being that we created together? /he put a hand on

your belly/ This baby is a part of you and me, it’s special and I can’t wait to give it all of our love and

attention.”

Yunho kept going on and on about BoA’s pregnancy in his happiness, but his words were cutting into me

more than I thought they would. Without saying anymore, I took the finished bowls to the sink, cleaning

them and then put

BoA’s in the freezer. I tried to keep my facial expression happy and pretend that I wasn't feeling hurt in

anywayppossible. You gotta fake it til you make it, right?

I should’ve seen this coming. Now they’re going to have a  kid of their own and forget about me. Oh well,

I guess I should be used to it by now…

Yunho was as usual unobservant and didn’t notice my mood shift but BoA did. She unwrapped herself

from Yunho’s embrace, keeping his hands in hers and softly said, “Andrew, this doesn’t mean we’ll love

you any less.”

I nodded and smiled a little, “I know. You didn’t have to…-.”

“I just wanted to make sure you knew that.” She said in a gentle voice.

There was nothing left to do but return her smile, but I noticed my ‘brother hadn’t agreed nor disagreed

with what she said and that is what made my smile hollow.
