She was once prominent; he was once humble.
She used to be smitten; he used to be impassive.
They used to be amiable with each other, and then became what people once called a "couple", but when he left her and everything they had ever had, no one knew why.
And when he returned, full of pride and with everything that she had lost in the blink of an eye, he was not smitten.
And nor was she.
Foreword
She never thought that she would meet him again, yet here she was, seated in one of the many plush cushions in his office being offered a cup of tea by a secretary. As she shook her head to the cup of tea and now cookies being offered to her, the door behind her creaked slightly, and with the first word uttered, nostalgia (and perhaps longing as well) enclosed around her as it had so many times before.
His voice reverberated in her ears as he said,
"Bom", and smiled with twinkles in his eyes as he sat himself down in the seat in front of her.
"How are you doing?"
