Chapter 5: True Love
Four Men and a DJ
“We spent the rest of the night walking and talking.” Sungmin said, “I tried so hard to get you and Kyuhyun to talk and make up.”
Jongwoon laughed, “It was really sweet of you.”
“You did make up with him.” Sungmin pointed out.
“Just for another month. Then we had an even bigger fight when I found out his parents were arranging marriage meetings for him and he was attending. I know he was only trying to placate them but by then… it was just too much.”
“My aunt and uncle are still pretty determined to see him married off with a family.” Sungmin admitted, “They think they’re doing what’s best for him.”
“So he still hasn’t told them about his current boyfriend?”
Sungmin shook his head, “He swears up and down that he will… soon. Once he wraps up his next album. After the world tour.”
Jongwoon sighed, “Shame. His boyfriend deserves better than that.”
The two quieted for a moment.
“I remember when you asked me out, Minnie.”
Sungmin grinned, “I couldn’t get you out of my head after that night we talked. Then we started talking all the time. I- well, this is terrible but… I started to hope that you and Kyuhyun would break up.”
Jongwoon’s eyes widened, “Really?”
Sungmin covered his face, “Yes… I’m a terrible person.”
Jongwoon touched Sungmin’s wrist, “After that night, I kept thinking to myself, ‘Why can’t Kyuhyun be more like his cousin, Sungmin?’”
They both laughed, “It’s okay, Minnie, we’re both terrible people.”
“We deserve each other.”
Sungmin sighed, “When you told me you and Kyuhyun had broken up for good… after you hung up, I cheered really loudly.”
Jongwoon laughed, “Oh, Minnie.”
“In my defence.” Sungmin said, “I was already in love with you.”
Jongwoon smiled and leaned in and motioned for Sungmin to do the same.
They kissed for a long moment before Sungmin straightened, “Six years later… still in love.”
“Still in love.” Jongwoon repeated.
