Written for the Fable Me This Writing Competition. I used prompts 1, 10, and 15.

1 - Fine feathers do not make fine birds.

5 - It is better to yield than to come to misfortune through stubbornness.

On another note....

So I think this story can get a bit confusing at times, so if you do get confused, feel free to refer back here. You don't have to read it now of course if you don't want to be spoiled for the story (though I don't think these really constitute spoilers). Also, if there are a lot of questions I might post a FAQ here? Dunno. 

Crowmen are the entire race of crow-man mutant thingies, including both nobles and peasants. They are divided into the black crowmen and the white crowmen.

Noble crowmen are called crowmen as well, and they have feathers on their heads as well as wings on their backs.

Common crowmen are called crows, and they look more bird-like, with feathers in more places and wings instead of arms.

God is the name for the all-knowing, divine being we are all familiar with today. His name is capitalized.

A god/goddess is a manifestation of God that can intervene in the everyday world, like the god of war or the goddess of love.
