Every time
Unlocked Doors
“Hey Luna, have you seen Sulli?” asked Suzy.
“No I haven’t seen her all day,” said Luna.
“Oh, well, tell her to find me. We are partners again for another project and I haven’t seen her outside of the classroom in days!”
“Hayoung was looking for you, Luna,” said Amber.
“Me? What for?” asked Luna.
“I’m not sure… but you should be careful. She seems different.”
“Different… how?”
“She is not the same since the incident. She was saying some nonsense about the ghost girl.”
“The ghost girl?”
“Yeah, I think the incident might have… affected her a little on the head,” whispered Amber.
“Luna!”
“Yes, teacher Victoria?”
“Where’s Sulli? She was going to help me decorate the gym for the pep rally. Have you seen her?”
“No, I haven’t, miss.”
“She is evil, Luna,” hissed Hayoung.
“Who’s evil?” demanded Luna.
“The girl. She will kill Sulli. She doesn’t understand it yet.”
“Hayoung I think you need to calm down.”
“Luna, if she doesn’t do something soon I…”
She seemed okay as she placed the book back to its shelf. Luna stared at her friend from a desk in the library. She was even humming. Her smile was the same.
But the whiteness of her skin, the shadows under her eyes, the weight lost, the sharpness of her darker eyes. It was like her friend was trapped in a changing body that was not quite like the one she had before.
“Sulli… are you okay?” asked Luna, every time.
“I’m okay,” answered Sulli every time.
