Red Lips & Soft Fingers { h i a t u s }

chapter four
      the hut;
                                                                                                                                                                                                                           -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Kim Jongin!” a voice hollered inside the gym making a smile lit up the said one’s face.

“Yes, sweetheart?” Jongin slyly smirked, making his teammates burst out in laughter. Zhang YiXing, however, didn’t seem happy at all. He simply shook his head and came some feet closer to the latter.

“You did it again, Jongin.” YiXing didn’t seem sad, but rather disappointed. His eyes were looking straight into the other’s making Jongin feel guilty for a reason only he knew. Kyungsoo was sure Jongin wasn’t scared for his own skin, but rather for the simple fact the other dancer was mad at him. “I hope you’re happy now.” YiXing turned around to leave, just to be grabbed by his hand by one of Kai’s friends.

“What’s your problem, dude? Do you think you can come here and be all pms-ing on this little er without giving him at least a reason?”

“Let him go, Chanyeol.” Kai whispered, slightly smiling at his Chinese crush. “Let us talk.” YiXing rolled his eyes making Jongin’s smile vanish completely. “Look, I’m sorry. It’s not like I had to choose, okay?” Kyungsoo frowned. Did his best friend actually know what was this all about? This was weird, but it also made the doe-eyed boy curious.

“To choose?” YiXing asked, forcing out a laugh. “Of course you didn’t have to choose. After all, you’re the best, right?”

“You’re just jealous.” Kai mumbled, lowering his head.

“Yes, I’m jealous. I’m jealous because my 10 hours of practice per day will never compare with your innate talent. I’m jealous because you’ll always be better than me, and I’m also jealous because I’m always going to be just the second choice of everybody. You’re right, I’m jealous.” He yelled, making Kai purse his lips together, in a firm line. He wanted to say something; a thing he wanted to let off his heart since a long time ago, but his lips were locked. He couldn’t do it in such a situation, especially with so many people around them. “That’s all, Kim Jongin? You had nothing to say?”

“What’s there to say?” Kai raised his head, wearing his usual stupid smirk; fake, this time. “Is there something I can do to make you feel better?”

“Break your legs.” YiXing hissed, storming out of the gym, leaving Jongin with his heart aching madly.

Abandoning the awkward silence which took over the gym, Kyungsoo ended up strolling around the school’s building, arriving without realizing behind the west wing. There was an old hut, a small one. Kyungsoo never gave attention to it. He didn’t even know why they haven’t demolished it yet. It wasn’t something important for the school anyway and after all, nobody was staying inside there, as Kyungsoo knew so far.

Skipping inside the place, Do Kyungsoo had the incredible surprise to find it full of paintings. Paintings of males, females, flowers, animals, beautiful places, there were a lot of things, all beautiful, indeed. It could be clearly seen they were all made by a true artist.

Making a few steps forward, his eyes were caught by some sheets full of caricatures. He picked them up and started looking through them, laughing every time he saw one which was looking exactly like one of his teachers. Placing them back on the table, Kyungsoo walked to the velvety material which was looking like wanting to hide something. Wrapping his fingers around the edge of it, Kyungsoo only pulled the material down just for a gasp to escape his plump lips and for his eyes to grow wider than they already were.

There, on the canvas, was nothing else but him, Do Kyungsoo, dressed in a red kimono and wearing a dark-brown long length wig. The way his cherry lips and brown orbs were painted made the painting look as if it was real and also made Kyungsoo feel like looking in a mirror. Trailing his soft fingers along the material, he couldn’t help but widely smile at the masterpiece.

In Jongin’s art class were a lot of good painters, Kyungsoo was sure of it, that’s why he couldn’t help but wonder which one of them painted the masterwork he had in front of his eyes. However, a single name was running in the boy’s head and that name was his, Kim Joonmyun’s.

“If you’re looking for Jongin, he’s not here.” Somebody said, making the doe-eyed buy jump, surprised, causing the painting fall in process.

“Kim Joonmyun.” Kyungsoo whispered. Yes, it was him, Kim Joonmyun, leaning backwards on a chair, with his legs one above the other and his hands linked behind his back, wearing the very same smirk he had a few days ago in the cafeteria.

“Why are you looking at Jongin’s girlfriend?” All of a sudden, Kyungsoo turned all red, as he felt the world falling over his head.

“I was...not. I was just admiring the art.” Joonmyun started to laugh, making Kyungsoo’s face turn even redder. “What are you doing here, anyway? I thought nobody was here.”

“I asked the principal to let me use this hut since I hate letting my painting in the classroom and I’m too lazy to carry them home. Here it’s silence.” He smiled, standing up and going to pick up the fallen masterpiece. “She reminds me of somebody.” He looked at his own painting, placing it on the table. “Don’t you think?”

“No!” Kyungsoo cried, but immediately faked a cough to cover it. “I mean, I don’t think so. She looks…unique.” He said, making the latter laugh once again.

“Unique, you say?” Joonmyun whispered, rolling his eyes in a playful manner.

“Kim Joonmyun, are you here?!” the desperate voice of Kim Jongdae was heard, which made Kyungsoo panic and look around for an escape out of that place. Joonmyun wanted to walk outside, but he was stopped by the latter who nervously shook his head.

“I have to get out of here!”

“Why so?”

“It’s Jongdae. He’ll ask me a lot of questions if he sees me here, with you.” Joonmyun could only raise an eyebrow. This kid was impossible.

Trying to come out with something, Joonmyun eyed the little wardrobe he had which served as a place for his tools. It wasn’t that big; it was actually good enough for Kyungsoo to fit in.

“Go inside there.” He hissed, and after the boy did what he was said, Joonmyun nonchalantly went out. “What?”

“I’ve been looking for you everywhere.” Chen sighed, grabbing his backpack from the ground and walking past the other, inside the hut.

“Did I tell you it’s okay to come in?” he raised one eyebrow. Joonmyun drew the conclusion Jongdae wasn’t even paying attention to him since he already started unpacking his things. “Hey!” he yelled, making the latter eye him with the most piercing look he had.

“Look! I have other better things to do than tutor you so please, if you’re smart enough, even though I know you are not, take a place and let’s start this.” Ignoring the little fact the boy just called him ‘stupid’, Joonmyun only shook his head while biting into his bottom lip.

“However…” he mumbled. “I didn’t say you’re going to tutor me here. Let’s go to the library.” He grabbed a random notebook and a pencil and started walking, making Jongdae sigh and follow him as soon as he finished putting his thing back in the backpack.

After the two were out of the sight, Kyungsoo came out of the wardrobe and smiled to himself for an unknown reason. He took out his phone from his jeans’ pocket and stared again at the painting. Taking a picture of it, the boy skipped out of the hut feeling better than ever.
