My Only Love

Words: 1202

AhYul suddenly woke up from her dream; tiny sweats were beginning to drip from her forehead. What kind of dream did she have enough to make her heart beat 100 times faster? But it felt real. She stood up from her bed after hearing the yells of her mother from the kitchen.

"AhYul...do you want me to flog you today?" She hastily ran out of her room to meet the blazing gaze of her mother.

"Do you know what time it is?" AhYul opened , but she couldn't utter a word. Shock came over her as her mother's voice shook her out of her day-dreaming. "I don't know what time it is." she mumbled.

"It's time for work; I need you to do anything possible to get money for us today."

"What did she mean?" AhYul thought. What job could she possibly do at such a late hour? "Do I work at a hospital?" She asked, not sure if she'd been in a coma, none of these were making sense to her.

"Did you hit your head last night; of course you don't work at a hospital, you're a e." She gasped at such a ridiculous statement, how could she be a e.

"I don't know what's wrong with you, but you have to come to your senses and go to work as fast as possible, don't you realize we need money?"

"Right...I'll be on my way." She was certainly flustered, she had to quickly adapt to this 'new role' she'd take on. What was she to do as a e?

She wore her shoes and made her way out of the door. She looked at herself, her 'costume' was rather odd, what was she doing here. Suddenly her 'life' erased itself from her memory. She was now a e; she didn't question herself anymore. As she made her way to a brothel, a headache rammed through her head; she felt like dying, her eyes went back to the back of her head...she clutched onto her head for dear life...she out.

AhYul stood in front of her shack, as she gazed at a familiar gentleman; he is a nobleman to be exact. What was he doing here, in front of a poor girl's home? Only for a split moment they gazed at each other, but AhYul couldn't help but have a familiarity with this gentleman, was that why he was there to see her. As she tried to refocus her eyes, the nobleman had disappeared.

"AhYul" her mother called "women need to do the chores of the home, not stare off into the distance."

AhYul quickly bowed to her mother, as she felt embarrassed of being given 'the lecture' about a woman's duty. After her mother left, she bent down to the unfinished plates she had been washing. Suddenly, a flash came to her, she saw herself wearing such ridiculous clothes. She would never be caught dead wearing those, but she saw one particular person, it was the nobleman, but he was wearing completely different clothing noblemen wore; in fact she'd never seen those clothings before. She regained her conscious mind as her mother's voice brought her back.

"You know you'll never find a husband if you keep slacking!" She didn't know what came over her, was she dreaming? No...It was too hard to believe, the music was too loud for her taste, and the lights blinded her.

"Mother" she called out..."Do you think I could be a dancer?"

"A dancer" she retorted "Only noble people are allowed to do such things, we are only allowed to sell merchandise. Now, stop talking nonsense and finish washing the plates"

"Yes mother", she sank down as disappointment came across her face.

AhYul opened her eyes to find the familiar man...from her dream, she'd just 'dreamt' of him this evening, before coming to work. She found herself at an unfamiliar place, and her clothes were still on, much to her satisfaction. She despises those men who touched her; she could never understand how her mother would allow her to do this. She ran at one point in time, but she was always found. She had no friends to talk to, she had a lonely life, and there was no place to escape. But this familiar man made her feel safe; he had not even touch her; what was he doing at a brothel then?

“Who are you?” she asked as she read his face; his mysterious face that had so many stories.

“You’ll come to know when the time comes, but for now, you have to escape.”

She didn’t understand what he could possibly be talking about. Her face could easily be read as confusion came over it.

“I’m sure you’re confused, but we have to leave as soon as possible.”

“I’m sorry, but I don’t know you?”

“Yes, you do.” He interrupted.

Her head was beginning to hurt even more. “You’re having a headache again, which is why we have to leave.”

“But I don’t understand you…and your speech is different…your Korean is different, I’ve never heard of it before”

“I’ll tell you another time, but you really don’t belong here, and stop asking me questions, you’ll just get more headaches.”

AhYul couldn’t go back home; she would try her best to run away this time, she never belonged here, her mother was a terrible person. She decided to go with this man; he was willing to help her, but she couldn’t help but feel different about this individual. How did he know about her life anyway?

“I have a question,” she uttered, “why are we on a roof?” The mysterious man only looked on “We’re not going to commit suicide, are we?” She covered as she let out a cute gasp. The mysterious man could only smile at her cluelessness.

“I hope you’ll remember everything” he thought to himself as he took out a wedding ring case.

“If you’re going to ask me to marry you, I should at least know your name first.” He let out a stifled laugh as his mysterious aura washed away.

“We’re not getting married…yet, but my name is Myungsoo, Kim Myungsoo.”

“So, what’s the box for?”

“You’ll find out in the next 10 minutes, but right now I need you to remember what you did after you slept today.”

“I don’t understand what that has to do with anything; I obviously slept, woke up, got dressed and voila, I was in your house.” She explained.

“You don’t remember anything about your mother?” he asked.

“No”, she shook her head unsure of what answer to give.

“I’m sorry, but I have to do this”, he sighed. He knocked the side of her head before she could even utter a word. “I’m sorry Miss, you were not supposed to be here”, he whispered to himself as he carried her body and touched the ring case.

Both of them traveled through a loop that sent their bodies into a green forest. He looked up but covered his eyes from the bright sunlight that shone among the tree leaves. The ring case had brought them to a different place...the wrong place, and he knew that.

Chapter 1: WOW! Just wow. The first chapter got me hooked already :D Sure....it's quite confusing but since it's merely the first chapter, I'm perfectly fine with it. For me the idea is still a bit blurry but overall I'm quite attached! This fic has a Final Fantasy feel in it for some reason. <3 SUBSCRIBED. Do update soon!
