“Will you go out with me?”

The hand around his wrist gripped tighter. The boy slightly winced. It wasn’t like he was in pain or anything like that; it was just that he was shy and didn’t know how to handle the situation well. He looked up into the dreamy pair of eyes of the person keeping him from moving away. Not even three seconds into the stare and he immediately had to look away. His face was burning up to a thousand degrees and he was pretty sure anyone could tell he was blushing.

Jung Daehyun was asking him out?

“U-Um I think y-you have the wrong per-person.”  Jongup stuttered with his eyes fixed onto the ground. He didn’t have the slightest clue what was going on. The first thing he knew was that he was walking out of the convenience store and suddenly his hand was pulled. It was late at night because his mom needed some bandages because she had accidently cut her finger. It being so late at night, there wasn’t anyone out at the time, so when Jongup was grabbed he couldn’t help but yelp when Daehyun appeared.

“No. I’m pretty sure I got the right person. Jongup right?” he grinned.  Jongup’s eyes widened. Now he was really confused. Why was the Jung Daehyun asking him out? He was the older college guy that all the girls in high school talked about, the supposedly super y male that anyone would kill to even hang around. And those girls weren’t lying. Jongup looked at Daehyun’s features. From his suave hair, his chiseled nose, his fair height, his plump full lips.  All Jongup could think was…

“Wow…”

“Are you checking me out?” he asked with a smirk. Jongup gasped and with his free hand covered his mouth.  Without even noticing the younger was staring at Daehyun, scanning him from head to toe. And to make things much worse, his mouth was wide open. Jongup pulled his hand out of Daehyun’s and used both to cover his face in embarrassment.  Daehyun on the other hand couldn’t help but find the younger’s behavior adorable and stifled a chuckle, trying not to offend the him.

“You’re cute.” The blonde said with a smile. This blew Jongup away. His heart was in a storm now and his face had turned even redder.

Daehyun chuckled so more. Taking his hand out of the comfort of his pocket, he reached over and ruffled Jongup’s hair. This was an easy task because the latter was shorter than he was.

“H-hey!” Jongup piped up. He had tried to sound tough but it was only an attempt because Daehyun found it harmlessly cute.  

“Well, it’s pretty late. You better be getting home now. Forget what I said for now okay? Get home safely” he ruffled Jongup’s hair some more before turning around and departing. Jongup was about to say something to him, but as he opened his mouth no words came out. He couldn’t find the right words to say. Daehyun was gone.

“What was that all about? Aish! Treating me like a girl! Why would he ask me out!?” He had a mini freak out session. Jongup stomped his foot on the ground and trudged home. Normally, he wouldn’t have had an outburst like that, but no one was around so he didn’t feel as timid as he usually was. As much as it seemed as if Jongup was frustrated with his encounter with Daehyun, in his chest no one could guess how hard his heart was beating.

“…he what?”

Jongup sighed and put his head down on the desk. He ran his hands through his hair and moaned in exhaustion. For some reason he couldn’t get any sleep last night.

“You heard me Zelo,” He looked side to side before whispering into his best friend’s ear, “Jung Daehyun asked me out yesterday.”

“Really? Are you sure? Hyung, I’m not saying you’re not great or anything, because believe me you are, but you do know that Daehyun’s like extremely popular and not to mention in college? How does he even know you?” Zelo questioned.

Jongup sighed for the hundredth time that morning. He really didn’t want to deal with this so early at school but as soon as he saw Zelo he couldn’t help but tell him. He needed to tell someone.

“I know that’s what I thought. But he knew who I was. I was really confused. And why would he ask me out anyway? I’m not a girl! He told me to forget about it, but how could I forget?!” Jongup said exasperated.

“Well maybe the Jung Daehyun swings that way, I don’t know. And if he told you to forget about it, then forget about it.  Maybe he was kidding or said it by mistake so I don’t know why you’re getting so riled up. If I were I would just take a deep breath and calm down.” Zelo smiled mischievously at his frazzled friend. Jongup was normally more quiet and mellow, but this was new. “Or… maybe you’re just mad because he took it all back. Was he as hot as everyone says he is?”

“ Ugh shut up Zelo”

Jongup wasn’t gay. Or at least he didn’t think he was. The boy was always too busy with school work to actually confirm his ual preference. Never in his life has he taken the time to actually crush or like someone. But Jongup wasn’t against it. Zelo was dating Yongguk who was in college. The three had been friends since as long as they could remember.

But this was a new feeling Jongup had never encountered before. His heart raced when Daehyun had smiled and called him cute. Did he actually like Daehyun? The thought to Jongup was preposterous. They had only just met, not even had the chance to get to know each other. It couldn’t be. But the thought of that smile that sent his heart on a marathon wouldn’t leave his mind.

“Hyung, why are you blushing?”

“I-I am?” He asked surprised and covered his cheeks.

“Yeah. Are you thinking dirty thoughts hyung?” Zelo smirked

“No I am not.” Jongup said seriously. He was not in the mood for the younger’s jokes.

“Ohhhh! Then you were thinking about Daehyun right?”

“N-n-no! I wasn’t!”

“You’re a terrible liar” Zelo giggled

School had just ended and Jongup and Zelo were hastily packing their stuff and headed out of the classroom.

“Bye Jongup, bye Zelo! See you tomorrow!” some girl in their class cried out, waving goodbye.

“Bye! See you tomorrow.” Zelo said and waved back.

“B-bye…” Jongup mustered as loud as he could.

As they walked out of the class they heard girls squealing.

“Oppa is too cute! He’s so shy!” They giggled.

Jongup sighed at this.

“Hyung, why are you so shy with other people? You’re perfectly fine around me and Yongguk hyung?”

“w-well you and hyung are different. I don’t feel nervous around you guys.” Jongup pouted.

Zelo’s faced brightened. He wrapped his arms around Jongup’s shoulders as they walked so that Zelo was back hugging the shorter one. Jongup was shorter than about everyone.

“Jonguppie hyung, you are too cute, you know that?” Zelo said copying the girls’ words.

“Aish Zelo. You’re heavy.” Jongup whined cutely.  Zelo buried his face into his hyung’s hair. Girls in the halls swooned and some shot out their phones and took pictures. Jongup blushed at being the center of attention. He quickened his pace to the exit.

“Finally! Out of sch─”

“Hey. Nice to see you again.”

There was Daehyun and Yongguk together waiting by the school gates. Jongup couldn’t believe his eyes. He could hear the whispers around him and the girls silent fangirling at the two handsome men.

“Gukkie hyung!!!” Zelo leapt off Jongup and ran straight into his lover’s arms instantly being enveloped in his embrace.

“Hey baby. I missed you. I came to pick you up today and I brought a friend. He asked me to take him here.” He said as he kissed Zelo’s cheek.

All Jongup could do was stand there and fidget with his hands. He felt tremendously nervous and shy since Daehyun was right there staring at him.

“Hi.” Daehyun greeted sensing the awkward atmosphere.

“H-h-hello” Jongup replied and slightly bowed. He laughed at the younger’s manners.

“Yongguk hyung, I didn’t know you knew Daehyun hyung?” Zelo asked curiously and looked at Jongup to see how he was holding up. Jongup was as stiff as a statue.

“Yeah Daehyun and I are in music class together. He’s an awesome singer”

Daehyun smiled at the comment. “Thanks. You’re a great rapper too by the way.”

After a moment of silence, Zelo felt as if he had to ask,

“So Daehyun hyung, why are you here?” They all looked at him with curious eyes. It was on all of their minds.

“I need to borrow Jongup from you guys if you don’t mind” Daehyun smiled and winked at Zelo. Zelo’s face broke out into a large grin.

“Great! Because Jonguppie hyung has been thinking of you al─” Zelo’s mouth was covered by a completely flustered Jongup. Daehyun laughed, and like last night, ruffled his hair.

“I was thinking about you too” he smiled and grabbed Jongup’s hand. “Let’s go somewhere. I have something I want to ask you.”
