Eternal Snow

Eternal Snow

Deciding that it was too cold to stay out in this weather any longer, Sungjong quietly got up and walked towards one of the cafe nearby. When he pushed the door open and went inside, he could tell it wasn't a normal Korean one. It was one of those Japanese cafes that were rarely found, yet they somehow manage to do well enough to stay around. Walking up to the cashier, he ordered for a hot chocolate before paying and glancing outside at how the snow was slowly beginning to pile up. It wouldn't be bad if he was stuck here, away from the dorm. The negative thoughts wouldn't leave his head and there wasn't much he could do to keep it off his mind.

Once his drink was made, he took a hold of it and sipped a bit before deciding to make his way over to an empty table in the back right by the window. Sighing, the maknae of Infinite had found staring at his drink more appetizing than drinking it. It was as if the answers to all of his problems would come to him if he stared at it long enough, but nothing ever did. He still liked Myungsoo. The other members were still busy. DuNuCo were still gone... And Myungsoo still liked Sungyeol.

Rubbing at his eyes again, he took out his phone as he felt it vibrate in the pocket of his jacket. Checking the message, he noticed that it was from Woohyun and pondered as to what he wanted before reading the words.

'Where are you? It's late. TT_TT'

Puffing out his cheeks, he quickly pushed his cellphone off to the side as he now started to glare at his drink. Why did they all have to act like they know what was wrong? Was it that obvious that he liked Myungsoo? Was that way the relationship between him and Sungyeol was kept a secret only from him? He hated this. Hated how he was treated and hated how the other's were trying to baby him again.

His brown eyes quickly went to look back at the window, watching the falling flakes cover the ground. It seemed like it would never end until the whole city was covered in snow. He felt so distant from everyone right now, especially Myungsoo, that he wished he could just not care. He wish he could smile and laugh it off and find other things to do other than sulk about it. Everything about being in Infinite was becoming frustrating as each day passes by and it was painful. Everyone had their own things to do and Sungjong was just left alone.

Leaning his head against the cold glass window, he finally decided to take another sip from the warm drink before placing it back down on the wooden table. Everything just felt stressful to him and all he could do was watch all of the happy couples walking pass the shop in front of the window. He envied them all. He envied them so much. To be able to hold on to each other tightly and warm each other up in a such a happy way. Why couldn't he get that with Myungsoo?

Well... He was the one that pushed the older male away from him. It was his fault that he couldn't get him. Myungsoo was the one trying to show love and affection for him throughout the years, yet Sungjong was the one pushing him away because of how flustered he'd feel inside. Once he started returning the hugs though, that was when things became awkward. That was when  he noticed how much closer Myungsoo and Sungyeol had become. He didn't want to believe it, even if it was true. But it was too late now. The hugs between the youngest and the visual were meant nothing anymore.

Whoever said that falling in love would bring a person an infinite amount of joy was wrong. It was painful and exhausting. It ached and felt lonely. His heart felt as if it was ripping and all he could do was hold back his tears. He never wanted to fall in love. He never wanted to feel these pathetic feelings. He felt so far from the one person he should feel close to. The only thing he could wish for at this very moment was for the snow to cover all of these feelings up before he went home.

Sitting up, the lone male pulled his blue jacket around him to comfort himself just a bit, he soon felt someone place a hat on top of his head. Blinking a few times, he soon looked up only to find himself making eye contact with someone he didn't want to meet. Someone he had no interest in seeing at all. Quickly adverting his gaze back to the window, he puffed out his cheeks and muttered quietly. "What are you doing here?"

"Looking for you." Unlike how Sungjong spoke, the male that had decided to sit down across from him spoke boldly. He could feel the gaze of the older male upon him as he refused to avert his eyes from the falling snow outside and stayed quiet. There were many questions, like why? How did he find him? What did he want? But Sungjong decided not to ask. He didn't want to know. He was fully aware it was because all of the other hyungs made him look. "It's getting late, you know. Everyone is worried."

Rolling his eyes, the maknae just leaned back in his seat before sipping more of his beverage. Everyone but you. That's what Sungjong wanted to say. Everyone but Kim Myungsoo. "I'm fine." That wasn't true. He wasn't fine. Everything was stressful. Nothing went the way he wanted it to go. But how could he say that? His actions right now were selfish enough causing the other Infinite members and managers to worry. But they should know that Lee Sungjong is capable of taking care of himself.

"You aren't" Myungsoo's words were as cold as ice, making the younger male quite frustrated. It was spoken in such a determined voice that he himself couldn't find a way to argue. Surely he was just playing off of what Hoya said. It was obvious he wasn't smiling and well. Even the fans knew. But he knew full well that Kim Myungsoo doesn't recognize these things unless A. It was someone he loves or B. It was told to him. And the person he loves is Lee Sungyeol. So the only way he knew was because he was told.

"It's cold." There was no use arguing with the visual, so the only best thing to do was to change the topic. It was the easiest thing to do since the vocalist across from him easily went for it on a daily basis. Wrapping his delicate fingers back around the mug in front of him, he brought the drink to his lips and took another long sip. He wanted to wash away these feelings as quickly as possible and it was difficult with how the other had a fixed gaze at him.

"It's coming to winter... And it's late. What did you expect?" He heard the other male ask him. Sungjong could only hang his head a bit in a childish manner, not wanting to explain himself at all before hearing the other speak again. "You look tired, lets hurry back home."

The other left him no room to argue, yet Sungjong refused to move. He continued to sit where he was and slowly sipped his drink as it started to cool down. "You go ahead. I'll be home later." He shouldn't be arguing, but he couldn't help it. The maknae did not want to walk home to see the site of Sungyeol and Myungsoo hugging... or even kissing each other. He was distressed enough from the very thought of it. Looking up at the visual for the first time, he noticed that he hasn't moved an inch and raised a brow. "... Yah. I said I'll be home soon. Just go home."

"Tch.  I'm not leaving you to walk back this late... Alone. " Myungsoo emphasized. The younger couldn't understand why, but all he could do was roll his eyes and not care anymore. If the visual wanted to stay and not walk home first, then so be it. Even if a part of him was happy, another part of him was boiling with anger. He just didn't want to walk home to see the site of another MyungYeol session.

Of course he didn't hate Sungyeol, not at all. Sungyeol was a great hyung. He was funny, tall, caring, clever, and very charming in his own ways. Even if fans didn't see him as very useful to Infinite, Sungjong saw him as one of the most needed members that had created Infinite into what they are today. Despite that though, he was jealous. Very jealous that Myungsoo was with him. "I'm not a girl. "

"Very close to one." He couldn't understand what Myungsoo was thinking. Not a single bit. If he had to pick between staying here for the rest of the night with the visual or go home...

"Let's just go back." Sungjong muttered and stood up. He didn't want to be the cause for any MyungYeol drama that may happen as he decided to walk out of the cafe quiet and into the cold. Shivering instantly from the chilly air, he soon felt an arm around his shoulder and could tell he was being pulled toward the direction that wasn't to their dorm. His cheeks were flushed and he felt speechless as he tried to look up at the other in confusion.

The taller male didn't speak a word; he wouldn't even return the gaze that was being given to him. He couldn't help but wonder where the male was leading him and it was really terrible since he was a curious person. Down this trail, many of the shops were closed due to the fact it was past 10pm now.

"Yah... Where are you taking me this late?" Even if he didn't want to ask, he couldn't help it due to the fact that he was just that curious. He didn't want to spend time with the other, yet clearly Myungsoo did. Nothing was making sense to him as he couldn't help but follow along.

"Detour" Sungjong only rolled his eyes. Just a one worded reply like that? Really? The youngest of Infinite was about to give his teddy bear Sunggyu heavy beatings when he got home. There was just no way he could tolerate the ice prince's demanding personality.

Deciding not to say a word anymore, he continued letting the other lead him wherever he pleased as he felt the hold tighten and brought them closer together. Of course it made him physically warm. Of course it was something he's been wanting and craving for. Of course it was something he dreamed of, taking a walk with the other and cuddling; but the reality was that Myungsoo was taken and this was wrong. He couldn't do it. He just couldn't allow himself be swayed by the older male's actions and his own fairy tale dreams and wishes.

After a bit of walking, he found himself being pulled into a shop. The air soon became warm as he glanced around, lifting a hand up to fix the hat that was on his head. Looking around, he noticed the shop was full of plushies and toys; things for kids. It was seriously too childish for someone of his age to be at. "Yah... I'm not a kid." He huffed out, glaring at the older male in annoyance before walking around quietly, examining everything the store had bit by bit.

"You aren't. But you still love plushies, don't you?" That question puzzled him slightly on how he should reply. It was true. He did love plushies. He was still quite fond of them despite the fact that he had became an 'adult' now. Even though he just have Sunggyu , the white teddy bear, by his side as a punching bag, he did wish to have more, that wasn't for that purpose.

Pursing his lips, he found himself wondering to the stuffed toy filled area towards the back, picking up and squeezing a few before placing it back down. He wasn't sure which of these he liked, mostly since he was very picky. Noticing a duck from the corner of his eyes, he looked at it before picking that one up instead and smiled at the soft fabric that rubbed against his finger tips. Giving it one squeeze, he noticed how fluffy it was and couldn't help but find the design of it adorable. The blue hat, the black strip across it's bill... It was odd yet perfect. It was not the cutest thing on the shelf, but to him, it was something he definitely liked.

Before he could think anything else of it though, Myungsoo's voice broke his thoughts. "Do you want that? ... I'll buy it for you." The brunette could only bite down on his bottom lip as his mood quickly fell. Squeezing the stuffed toy in his hand tightly, Sungjong's string snapped. The kindness of his hyung was just too much. Everyone in Infinite knew how the maknae was in love with the visual, so why was he acting like this? "Just... Stop it." It was a mumble more than anything else as he felt tears b along his eyes. Thankfully his back was to the other even though he felt his heart aching. It was aching so bad that he wasn't sure how he was even standing anymore.

"... Stop it? Are you ok, Jongie?" Myungsoo sounded very unsure about what he was talking about and that just irked the maknae. He definitely was one hell of an actor. It disgusted him slightly. Turning around, he quickly threw the toy at the other and stormed out of the shop. There was no way he could cause a scene in there with the cashier still around. No matter how badly he wanted to yell at Myungsoo for being insensitive, he knew he just didn't have the guts to.

Chapter 3: So, what happened to Yeollie? Did they kill him and hide his body? How is anything at all solved by what just happened here? Isn't everything just exactly the same even though SJ managed to "smile"?

It really doesn't make any sense - you were right. It's really too bad to be so let down after reading an entire story. You must be a lot of fun on Christmas with all your prettily-wrapped presents that turn out to be empty boxes. Are you a sadist?

Chapter 3: Jesus Christ. You know what? I got teary eyed on this. I've always known of the fact that Sungjong wasn't really in his happiest disposition last year and this kinda pictured out what might have possibly happened during those days. The way you described the members was just on point. The way you made the story develop and how you slowly narrated Sungjong's struggles was perfectly captured and made into words. I was literally stuck to each and every word on this fic that I couldn't help but smile and feel aching at the saddest parts. The last two chapters were astonishing. How you captured their personalities and wrote them into what likely was a quick late night date was amazing. beyond amazing. And the ending? A total killer. I DIED OMG. I REAALLLY like you were able to use his tweets. It totally caught me off guard it was just so wonderful and my feels aaaaaah i cant omg see? I'm out words.

All in all, this was an amazing fic that I'd prolly read over and over and over again. Thank you for writing this :')

I love you, btw.
