The lead has gone cold.

 

I've returned to the city where it happened but not much has changed in a year. 

 

The city. The people. The coffee shop on the corner of 31st street.

 

Everything remains in motion. 

 

The caramel macchiato with extra cream reflects the mood around me. Warm. Happy. Full of life.

 

& that upsets me. 

 

After my parents were murdered, time for me had stopped. I can never be a part of this world anymore.

The miracle date that kids were hoopla-ing about since that day became known. A day of wishes and dreams to come true. 

 

Pitiful. Spiteful. Horrible. 

 

I hate this day as much as I hate myself. For not being there. I could have stopped it. I could have!

 

 But I didn't.

 

Because all I did was cry. All I did was pass out in a bar because I was angry at them that night. They were placed in that situation because they were looking for me.

 

Why did I let it happen. 

 

Why. Why. Why. WHY.

 

And then I stop asking myself that question... Because I know why. 

 

But now it doesn't matter, because with the curse I've gained, I'll avenge them. I'll find their killer.

 

 

& that is a promise.
