History background of the Korean War
The Korean War (한국전쟁 or 조선전쟁, 25 June 1950 – 27 July 1953) was a war between the South Koreans and the North Koreans because of the different ideologies - Communist and Democratic.
Back in 1910 -1945, Korea was a Japanese colony. At the 1945 Potsdam conference, it was agreed that once Japan was defeated, Korea would be divided at the 38th parallel, with Soviet troops (Russia) occupying north and the US troops the south. The USA and the Soviet union set up gevernments that supported their respective idealogies - North supports communism and South with democracy. Kim Il Sung (North Korean leader) and Syngman Rhee ( South Korean leader) claimed the right to rule over the whole Korea.
In June 1950, North Korean troops crossed the 38th parallel and invaded South Korea after Kim Il Sung seeks permission from China and the Soviet Union to invade South Korea in which they provided the North Korean troops with weapons and advisers. The US troops together along with the UN force made up of 16 countries helped South Korean soldiers fought the North Koreans
The Korean war swooped a total of 4 million lives - both soldiers and civillians.
The Memorial Day (현충일 ) is held every June 6 to commemorate the soldiers and civilians who died during the Korean War
It is held in the National Cemetery in Seoul, starting from 1956. At 10 A.M. on Memorial Day, a siren rings all over the country, and people have silent prayers for 10 minutes. Also, the South Korean flag is flown at half-staff
Even after the historic war, the 38th parallel and the different ideologies still exist till today
Foreword
Jiyul stepped backwards but her eyes were still glued on him. That man took a step closer while reaching his hands out but halted his steps when Jiyul threatened to shout if he stays close to her. Fear crept in her and her hands were trembling.
“W...Wh...Who are you?” she stuttered.
Her eyes widened in shock, “Could it be that those voices were from… you?”
Preface
I was inspired by two historical movies and my all time favourite - 71:Into the fire and Tae Guk Gi. Both films depicts the sad life that revolves around South Korean soldiers who fought against the north korean who aimed to spread communism. I felt so deeply attached to these films as well as the Korean History (as I majored History in high school). During that time, I had the urge to write a fanfiction, something that's not cliche in the world of fanfiction, but nothing inspired me. But after watching these two films, an idea popped for me to write and I decided to twist it with a 'reincarnation' theme. To be honest, I've never been this serious writing a fanfic. When I write this piece, it was as if I was script-writing for a drama and did planning as well in which I didn't do at all for all my previous fanfics. So, you guys, can see how serious I am.
To all my beloved readers, this is my first time writing this genre. Do Vote, Subscribe and leave your comments below.
This story is dedicated to all the South Korean soldier either dead. alive or missing for the sweat and tears in saving South Korea from communism and their bravery and courage in facing difficulties. Without them, South korea will never be South Korea. May you all rest in peace.
