Girly giggles erupted from somewhere behind Jonghoon.  He turned to look around, but couldn’t see where the laughter was coming from. He turned back to head off but the giggles broke out again. This time when he turned around, he could see movement from behind a puff of cotton clouds. He fluttered his wings and flew off to that direction.

Creeping slowly, he peeked in to check who was there. Three cute little cherubs were lying on their tummies on the puffy white cloud, peeking down through a hole. They were pointing at something, and then giggled from time to time.

He sneaked towards them slowly, making sure not to make any sound.

“Ah-hah!!! What do we have here?!” he boomed as he was just behind them.

The girls shrieked and jumped in surprise. Jonghoon sat down Indian-style and crossed his arms on his chest, clearly satisfied with his prank as he smirked.

The three other cherubs realized who it was and pounced on him, slapping him with their chubby hands.

“Yah, I was just kidding, can’t you take a joke?!” Jonghoon yelped, raising his arms to shield himself from their attacks.

Hyunnie gave him a final slap on the head before she turned back to the peeping hole.

“We were concentrating on something very important, Hoonie. Now get lost!” she huffed, settling down on her tummy again.

The twins gave him each a slap on both shoulders before going back to settle themselves beside the bigger cherub.

Jonghoon rubbed his shoulders and his head, trying to massage some of the sting away. He flapped his wings to straighten the ruffled feathers.

“Yah, for cherubs, you girls are very violent!” he grumbled as he came to sit beside Hyunnie.

“This is very important, go away boy!” Hyunnie scolded, not looking up from what she was watching.

Jonghoon tapped He Ran’s shoulder. The cherub faced him with wide eyes.

“What exactly is more important than anything else right now?! The chief seraph has been looking for you!”

“Sshhh… We’ve been given permission to sneak out and watch,” she answered him before going back to her observation post.

“Wait, you’re permitted? And what, watch what?” he asked, this time tapping the other twin.

“Just shut up Hoonie and watch with us then, if you’re so curious,” Hwayoung finally injected, pulling him down to the cloud’s soft floor.

Jonghoon peeked into the watch hole and saw a man. Well, a boy to be exact. Well, a boy-man.

“Who’s that?” he asked, watching as the boy-man plucked the strings of his guitar, and then paused a couple of times to write something down.

“That is going to be our daddy,” He Ran proudly beamed, her eyes sparkling as she looked up at him.

Jonghoon’s eyes widened as her news crept into his head slowly.

“You’ve been assigned?!” he replied softly.

“Yup! And we’re all going to be sisters! Hyunnie’s going first, so she’ll be our unnie,” Hwayoung added proudly.

Jonghoon clapped his hands slowly, clearly in awe at their news.

“Wow, I’m happy for you girls, but I’m jealous. So you’re gonna leave me here?!” he said sadly.

Hyunnie sighed and finally turned to him.

“Apparently you haven’t been paying attention to the chief, either. You’re going BEFORE me, OPPA. Well, just a three-month oppa, though. So get over it,” Hyunnie said haughtily.

“Whoohooo!!! I’ve been assigned, too?!” Jonghoon jumped up and down on the cloud, making the girls bounce along with him. He was so excited, he couldn’t keep still. The twins decided to join him and bounced around as well.

“Yah, Hoonie, if you don’t stop it now, we won’t tell you who’s your daddy!” Hyunnie demanded, trying to keep her sight on her own daddy as the cloud bounced around.

Jonghoon immediately flopped down beside her and asked, “Where, where?! Who’s my daddy?!” he asked, folding his hands in front of him as he pleaded.

Hyunnie sighed and pointed downward.

“There’s your daddy. Now shut up and watch!” she demanded.

Jonghoon looked intently at the man beside the boy-man. Well, they’re still both young, but his dad was clearly the more handsome one. He decided to keep that to himself, as he didn’t want to be the victim of another attack from the girls.

Hyunnie sighed as she stared at her daddy. He was so handsome and appeared to be very talented. But she could see something in his eyes that people around him didn’t seem to notice.

Loneliness. Her daddy was lonely.

I’m coming for you, daddy, just wait and see. I’ll make sure you meet mommy soon.

“Unnie, who’s our mommy?” He Ran whispered beside here, clearly feeling the loneliness in their daddy, too.

“I don’t know, sweetie. They haven’t told me yet. But we’ll make sure that they meet as soon as possible, whoever she is. Daddy needs her, and they both need us,” Hyunnie whispered back, brushing at the younger cherub’s curly hair.

“I hope she’s pretty, and nice,” Hwayoung whispered from the other side.

Hyunnie hugged her two younger sisters as they continued to watch.
