Love In Different Forms

Knock knock

A resounding light pound on the door jolted Eunhyuk awake, causing his eyes to blink open frantically.

"Boys? Are you guys okay? Dinner's ready!" Mrs. Lee hollered from the other side of the door.

She stood there for an extra few seconds before her footsteps were heard on the stairs, heading to the dining room.

"Mmm..." Donghae groaned faintly, cuddling his face deeper into the older's chest.

The two had fallen asleep unknowingly, secured into each other's arms with Hyukjae's back leaning against the door supporting them both.

Aigoo Donghae, Eunhyuk thought to himself, you were so exhausted, you had already passed out before I could put us on the bed.

Hyukjae chuckled to himself, growing fond of the younger's adorable ways.

He suddenly remembered what had happened earlier, how he told Donghae about Hyoyeon and the huge emotional reaction that exploded between them both.

He didn't mind though; it was impossible to be embarrassed around the younger as they both shared similar and mutual feelings most of the time.

It was as if Donghae understood him.

"Hae, Donghae, wake up." Eunhyuk took hold of the younger's shoulders and gently shook him awake.

Seeing as the younger had no reaction, he cupped Donghae's face with both hands and placed a soft kiss on his forehead.

"Hae...wake up, it's time to eat."

Donghae's lashes fluttered, exposing his newly rested eyes before looking up at Hyukjae, a serene look on his face that could only come from a deep, comfortable rest.

"You are so cute! You know that right?" Eunhyuk exclaimed before standing up cautiously and placing a hand on Donghae's forehead, "you okay? You seem to be getting better." he said before grabbing the younger's wrist and helping him up,

"Let's go, umma and appa are waiting for us."

All four of them were gathered around the dining table; Donghae and Eunhyuk sitting side-by-side with Mr. and Mrs. Lee plopped down before them.

"So, Mr. Lee Donghae, it's fairly nice to meet a new friend of my son's." Hyukjae's father said warmly before extending an arm out for the man directly across from him.

Donghae shook it willingly, flashing that same angelic smile to Eunhyuk's dad.

"Hyukjae," Mrs. Lee suddenly interrupted before placing a generous amount of kimchi in and swallowing, "how would you and Donghae here feel about going to the beach later?" she asked. "I know you two are just getting settled but-"

"We'd love that." Eunhyuk cut in mid-sentence.

He didn't know why or how, but the excited look in Donghae's eyes after his mother had said the word 'beach' made him think that the younger wanted to go.

Mutual understanding, he guessed.

Donghae's hand slid under the table and latched onto Hyukjae's, causing the older to look at him with perplexed eyes.

"Yes?" Eunhyuk asked, holding onto the younger's hand and drinking from his glass at the same time.

"Of course we'll let you borrow some of the clothes our son left behind a few years ago to change into. If they're a bit small, I'm sure Hyukjae came here with a few spare changes. Right honey?" Eunhyuk's mom interrupted again.

"Yeah, of course." Eunhyuk said playfully, reaching his hand up and petting Donghae's hair slightly.

He couldn't help it, the latter was just so cute in his eyes.

The cool, soft breeze of the tropical air tickled Eunhyuk's skin lightly, pinching his soft flesh from the tiny grains of sand in the process.

It was sunset now, the big and bright yellow sun making it's way below the horizon ever so slowly, creating time for you to marvel at it's undying beauty. The vibrant colors of the sunset patched it's way along the sparkling water, bright light reflecting off of its surface, as if you were looking into the sun itself.

Hyukjae's parents were making their way down the beach, holding hands as they went along the wide expanse of white sand, leaving footprints behind them that would later be washed away by the everlasting cascade of waves.

It was quite romantic actually, as Eunhyuk's mother's hair flew behind her gracefully, like the first ripple of a fall wind.

Hyukjae and Donghae were sprawled out on a thick cotton beach towel, the latter's head resting against the former's shoulder smoothly.

They were waiting for the stars; nebula to gather in the sky, twinkling high above, probing you to fly upward with them.

There was a small fire next to them made by Eunhyuk's father, keeping the two both warm and comfortable.

Donghae suddenly snuggled himself closer to Eunhyuk, closing the gap in between them.

The younger timidly raised a hand and pointed onwards, deep into the edge of the horizon.

He wanted to touch it, to feel the delicate texture of the never ending field of light.

It had been quiet for a few minutes now, only the sound of hushed breathing could be heard.

Hyukjae got a brilliant idea.

"Hey Donghae, climb on my back. I want to show you something." Eunhyuk said freely, motioning for the younger to crawl up onto his exposed back, "come on, it'll be fun."

Donghae hesitated, then, gently wrapped his arms around Hyukjae's neck and encircled his legs around his waist.

"I'll show you...how to fly!"

Eunhyuk exclaimed, running towards the ocean and extending his arms, imitating the wings of a bird.

He ran through the shoreline, advancing into the water as splashes and droplets hit their sides from all different angles.

The water was up Eunhyuk's ankles, swallowing his feet into the sand and tangled seaweed that he fought his way through.

He glanced behind his shoulder at the charming little passenger that clung onto his neck for dear life, a huge smile spread across his already beautiful features.

That smile, Hyukjae thought to himself, he's so beautiful.

Then, Donghae made a sound that made the former stop in his tracks.

A sound that made Eunhyuk's face light up into a warm grin.

A sound that nearly made his heart stop and drown in happiness.

Donghae giggled.

"Hae...you giggled!" Hyukjae said in proud astonishment, locking the man behind him into a sustained, meaningful stare.

Donghae could only nod his head and hum in response as he buried his head deeper into the older's neck and inhaled solidly, taking in the former's manly scent.

"Did...you just smell your hyung?" Hyukjae teased, holding onto Donghae's warm hand and pressing it firmly against his face, "you little fish! You're so going to get it!" the former sprinted the outline of the water with Donghae on his back, laughing and giggling with that precious angelic voice of his.

Hyukjae ran and splashed, almost collapsing due to how exhausted he was , but he couldn't stop.

Not right now.

Not when his Donghae was actually, truly happy and laughing.

He couldn't bring himself to say it then, but the one thing that Eunhyuk loved just as equally as Donghae himself, was his beautiful laugh.

Hyukjae settled himself down after awhile, feeling Donghae's obvious weariness judging by the latter's sharp, uneven breaths against his shoulder.

"You're tired, huh?" the blonde asked, shifting his position so that Donghae's arms were draped around his chest,

"Come on, it's time to eat marshmallows around the fire anyway. Plus, it's getting dark. Look at the sky Hae." the older pointed to the vast canvas of littered stars overhead, masked by the early shadow of dawn.

Donghae suddenly started pointing to random, individual stars that stood out and gleamed brightly.

Hyukjae took a moment to analyze what the younger was doing, memorizing and playing connect the dots with all of the stars the brunette pointed to.

Then he saw it.

The stars were perfectly aligned and glimmering, creating the perfect outline of two strawberries in a bowl.
