My Present's Past
March 4, 1850

“OOuuuuch!!! Be careful, My back really hurts.” I shouted.
“What happened yesterday? You have so many bruises.” Lia said.
“Because I don’t know how to ride a horse!”
“If only I knew I’ll tell the duke that your not feeling well.”
“You’re too late. It happened already.”
After Lia left, someone knocked on the door.
“Who’s that?”
“Its Yoseob. May I come in?”
I began to panicked. Eottheokhe? Yoseob? The youngest son of the duke?! I open the door and bow down.
“Oh, its ok. I’m just here to check if your ok.”
I’m confused. To check if im okay? What does he mean. Then I saw that he was carrying something.
It looks like the medicine that Lia was putting on me a while ago.
“Because I saw that you fell on the horse pretty bad.”
Oh now I got it.
Well, I told him lies. I told him that I’m fine. I told him that I have no wounds. What a liar you are,
“Are you sure?”
“Yeah.” Then I smiled.
“It’s a relief. Uhmm…ok then I have to go now.”
I can see through his eyes that he was really worried.
“Wait! By the way, Thanks.” I shouted
“ No problem.”
That afternoon, I asked Lia if there a library in here and she said there is. I went to the library to find something interesting to read.
The library is big. It has a big chandelier hanging at the center of the room and there are thousands of books. I run my finger along the
spines of the books, taps one of them, eases it out of its place “Classical Music” as the book says. The book is dusty, the pages were
yellow and brittle as I flips through them. All of these books are from the twenty-first century or earlier. I was startled when someone talked.
It was Luna, The girl who were seated beside me when we had our first dinner here.
“There are lots of love stories here.” She said.
“They either end happily, or everyone dies.” She laughs.
“By the way, do you believe in fortune tellers?”
Before I answer, she grabbed my hand and told me that we will go somewhere interesting. After 20 minutes, the
carriage stops in front of a small house.
“Come” Luna said.
After she knocked on the door. The door creaks open and then open a few inches. As we went inside, I see that there were no windows. I saw
a woman sitting at the center of the room. She looks at me and smiles, but it’s a distracted smile. She told us to sit. It’s so hot in here.
“Tell me young lady. Is there anything you would like to know?” The woman said.
“There’s only one question in my mind and that is how to go back to the present.” I said.
“How can I go back to my own world?”
I can see that Luna was confuse. Then the woman makes a gesture for me to give her my hand. She close her eyes. Her finger touch my palm.
“I see, I see… How interesting. You’re not from here. ” She said.
“I can see a woman, a man and the last… hour glass.”
“What does it mean?”
“You’ll fell in love with someone you’re not expecting to! ”
“Fall in love? Me?! To whom?”
The she bring a finger to her lips indicating for me to silent.
“Love will tell you on how to go back.” The woman said.
“What!? I don’t understand!”
“You are the one who can answer your question. As the right time comes, you will know.”
Luna was so confused. She keeps on asking what do I mean ‘my own world?’ But I don’t answer her, I’m still confused
on what the fortune-teller said. Love will tell me how to go back in present?
That night:

I can’t sleep. I keep on thinking about what the fortune-teller told me. Then I heard someone was playing the piano again.
In my curiosity, I want to see who really it was. The door creaks open, revealing the long hallway. There are few doors lining the walls. I walked slowly,
my bare feet is giving me an advantage because on this carpet I’m practically silent. The music is coming from the door at the end of hallway.
I’m almost there. Carefully, I peek through the slit in the door. Lia was right it’s Junhyung. He plays the piano like he was playing it for someone. I can
see through his eyes that he was sad. I sat at the back of the door. I close my eyes and listen to the music. I was startled when the music stopped.
I realize that I need to go back to my room. As I stood up, I accidentally pushed the vase beside me, it almost fall when I caught it.
“Who’s there?” Junhyung said,
I freeze where I stand. I began to panic as I heard his footsteps come nearer and nearer
1…2…3 Before I began to run, I heard a thud.
“What was that?” I whispered.
I peek again through the door and I began to panicked when I saw Junhyung was lying on the floor. I instantly go inside the room and checked him
if he was alright.
"J-junhyung! Hey, Wake up!!" I shouted.
"Somebody! Please help!" I shouted.
Then Junhyung opened his eyes. His eyes darker than the midnight. I just realized that his face were few inches into
mine and I’m holding him tightly. Then he smirked.
"Caught you." He wisphered.
Omo~ What is he doing? I pushed him and backed away.
"W-what are you doing!?" I shouted.
"Just checking who’s at the back of the door." Then he smirked.
"Am I good in acting?"
So that’s all an act? How dare this person played with my emotions!
"You’ll pay for this! "I whispered.
I walked in front of him and step on his foot. He let out a sound of pain.
"Why did you that!!!?" He shouted.
"Just to check if you are okay! "
I smiled and run through the hallway. Don’t look back, Don’t look back. Just run. I run back to my open room. I’m holding my knees ,
like I’ve just sprinted a mile.
“Don’t ever mess with me!!”
