2nd time
You won't leave me, will you?
Gillian walked back home alone. Minho didn't follow her because he was afraid that Jonghyun
might see him and he'd get Gillian in more trouble. Gillian remembered what happened the other
night.
Someone saved me, she thought. She turned to a corner and tried to remember how he looked like.
Just then, she heard a shouting woman that made her stop in her tracks. She slowly looked up
and saw blood everywhere. The woman was bleeding... and someone was at her neck. No,
something.
The blood started to travel from the woman to Gillian's feet, making her shoe a bloody mess. She
looked up again, unable to take in what was happening in front of her.
Vampires, she thought. That thing is a vampire.
The thing looked up, revealing red eyes and a bloody pale face. Gillian's eyes widened and she took
a step back.
I think you should run now, a voice said in her head. She laughed a nervous laugh. How can she
outrun a vampire?
She reached in her bag and found what she was looking for. Pepperspray. The thing let go of the
woman who now looked like a lifeless ragged doll. It stood up and she saw that it was tall. It smiled,
revealing fangs with blood dripping from it. She took another step back. The vampire ran and it was
fast. She closed her eyes.
I'm gonna die, she thought. She waited for the pain and the big blow. She waited and waited.
Anytime now, she thought.
It didn't come. Slowly, she opened her eyes and saw someone standing in front of her. The
vampire screamed and wretched in the air.
“Do you have a pencil?” the figure in front of her asked.
She quickly rummaged through her bag and found a pencil. She handed it to the outstreched
hand of the person and he felt the sharp tip.
The guy jumped, pencil in hand and fell with force on top of the vampire. It turned to dust almost
immediately.
Gillian didn't move. She couldn't.
“Sorry for your pencil.” the boy said, standing up and holding out a broken pencil. Gillian blinked.
“It's okay.” she heard herself say. She looked closer at the boy and thought that he was familiar.
“you... you saved me before, right? You were the one in the club.” She took 2 steps forward and
forced herself to smile.
“Annyeong haseyo. Gillian imnida.” she bowed. “Thank you for saving me... again.”
“It wasn't for you.” the boy said.
“What's your name?” she asked, looking inside her bag, completely ignoring his comment.
He was quiet for a moment then said, “Lee Taemin imnida.”
“huh... umm... I don't have anything to give you but...” she looked at him. “... would you like a lollipop?”
she smiled, holding out a lollipop.
Taemin blinked and shifted. After a moment, he laughed. Gillian looked at him, confused. Taemin
cleared his throat, still smiling.
“I'm sorry. It's just... uh, yeah, sure.... why not?” he took the lollipop. “Thank you.” he said.
Gillian smiled and looked around her, dropping beside the woman. She was dead, she knew.
“Don't touch it.” Taemin said. Gillian stood up and faced him.
“It was... a vampire?” she asked, looking at the ashes between them.
Taemin looked at her. “Yeah.”
She took in a deep breath. She wanted to scream and warn everybody in the neighborhood but
what came out of was, “Cool.”
Taemin smiled, an eyebrow raised. “Cool?”
“I mean,... it's.... extraordinary. Weird but cool.” she said.
Taemin looked at her shoes. “Gillian-ssi, could you take your shoes off and step away from the
blood?”
“huh? Oh, de.” She took her shoes off and stepped out of the blood with her clean socks. Taemin
got her shoes and folded it with his coat.
“Could you please hold this for a second?” he said, handing it to her. She reached out and got it.
Taemin leaned forward, swept her off her feet and walked like a normal guy would; slowly. He
didn't want risking his identity to Gillian no matter how unique she was.
“Taemin-ssi! You don't have to do this. I'm perfectly fine walking in my socks.”
“You're already sick.” he said simply. Gillian looked at him.
“How'd you know?”
“When you fainted.”
Gillian buried herself in her bag and felt wind sweep off her hair. She looked up and suddenly,
they were a house from her house.
“How did..” she said.
Taemin dropped her gently and got the covered shoes from her.
“Kamsahamnida.” Gillian bowed.
“De. Be careful next time.” he said, meaning it.
“Ne.”
She turned around and opened the gate when she remembered her manners. She turned again
but he was already gone.
“So much for trying to ask him to stay for dinner.” she said, and went inside.
