Time Limit

"Myungsoo"
"Kim Myungsoo."
"KIM MYUNGSOO PABO!".................
 

Myungsoo snaps out of his blanking out.

"Huh?"

"I said we got a gig for the carnival. Sound good?" Jinon said. Myungsoo has been blanking out for days.

"Uh sure yeah. Im going out." He got up and headed out.  He walked around the lively night of Hongdae, turning heads of girls walking around. 

..."You're not even cute."

....."Ugly Casanova.."

"Aish!" Myungsoo groaned in frustration. He's been having mental breakdowns since he met Hyemi. He walks around more, when he came across a bakery. He walked in, a couple girls noticing his presence. 

"Um, excuse me, do you need any help?" A worker shyly asked the ravishing Myungsoo. Not saying a word, she waited for him.

Myungsoo looked into the tiny decadent cakes with amusement. Girls like chocolate right? He thought. He finally pointed to one. A chocolate cake topped with a thin layer of cream and topped with strawberries.

The girl immediately got a box ready for the cake. As she packs the ever so pretty cake she asks "Is this for you girlfriend?"

Myungsoo looks at her, his signature smirk on his face "Does it look like I have one?" He paid for the cake and turned around. Before he could reach the door, Hyemi walks in.

"Oh look who it is. It's that evil black witch." The girls in the bakery turned to them, making Hyemi uncomfortable.

"Annyeonghaseyo.." Hyemi gave him a slight bow. She was dresses in a pale peach dress, enhancing her natural beauty and youthful innocence.

"Oh you're so nice now, aren't you?" Myungsoo huffed.

"I apologize...for what I've done. I was just tired from the tr--" Myungsoo grabbed Hyemi's wrist and dragged her out of the bakery.

"W-where are we going?" Myungsoo continued to walk, dragging Hyemi with him. Hyemi was unable to free her wrist from Myungsoo's grip an gave up after a couple minutes. They walked further and arrived at a playground. 

"What do you need?" Hyemi said in frustration. Myungsoo stared at her for a few moments.

"You called me ugly." Myungsoo finally said, his voice steady and serious.

"I'm sorry...?" Myungsoo still held on to her wrist, staring at her with his seducing eyes.

"Psh right" he drags her to a bench nearby "Sit."

"But I have to go some--"

"Sit."

"Arasso.." Hyemi sat down as Myungsoo takes a seat next to her.

"W-what are we going to do..?" Hyemi said after a couple minutes of silence. She felt scared. She knew about Myungsoo's reputation.

"Take it back."

"Take what back?"

"What you said."

"Yah! Stop being so childish! I have to go somewhere." She got up. But before she could walk away, Myungsoo grabbed her wrist and sat her down, putting his hand beside her shoulder, preventing her from escaping.

"You're really something you know." Myungsoo's eyes grew deeper, staring right into Hyemi's eyes

Hyemi looked flustered, her cheeks blushed a rosy pink color. "W-what do you mean?"

"Ive never believed in love.."

Hyemi blinked

"But then I saw you."

She pressed her lips together

Myungsoo counted in his head one..two..three

Hyemi continued to stare at him, a clueless expression on her face.

"Wow, you really are quite innocent."
Myungsoo said, unsatisfied with the reaction he got. He sat back and closed his eyes.

Hyemi tapped Myungsoo's shoulder, causing Myungsoo to open his eyes.

"Oppa.." Hyemi said. Myungsoo turned to her, immediately being captivated by her innocent charms.

Hyemi turned to Myungsoo and looked into his eyes. "I heard love hurts. So I've never wanted to fall in love."

Myungsoo's expression softened.

"To be honest when I saw you.." Hyemi looked down then back at Myungsoo. "All of those changed."

Myungsoo pursed his lips. "Will you.." Hyemi leaned forward til there were only a couple of inches between her face and Myungsoo's "take care of my heart?" 

Her round eyes were looking directly at Myungsoo. At this moment, the world seemed to stop for the both of them. Myungsoo leaned forward and closed his eyes, pressing his lips against Hyemi's rosy pink lips.

He lingered for a little while then pulled away. He looked at her, finding Hyemi's eyes were still closed. Myungsoo started to lean again.

But before he could, Hyemi parted her lips.

"Stupid Casanova."

It is not shown what happened to cause Myungsoo to have an attack. Maybe it was the hurt or anguish that he felt from being rejected (as though he had been fooled to believe that she accepts his feelings and returns them) causing him to end up in that state due to emotional stress. Luckily, Hyemi was there with him at the time so that he could be rushed to the hospital in case experiences an attack relating to his weak heart. Hyemi obviously isn't the easy type. She has to go through with this because it's a deal that he made with her in order to prove himself with Hyemi following his conditions. It seems that Myungsoo has it in his intentions to have a date with Hyemi besides the point that he's grateful for what she'd done for him. He must be falling for her already, which Hyemi has the notion to be right about. Hearing the news of his sister and Myungsoo dating might come as a shock or a surprise to him since he knows that Hyemi doesn't seem to be interested in guys for as long as he's known her. As her older brother, Dabin does have to make sure that Hyemi is in good hands before entrusting her to him.

It's the kind of line that people usually see in romance novels and romantic movies. Even if he did really mean it, she didn't seem to take him seriously because of his playboy reputation. She must've considered the possibility of him using that as a pick-up line to grab her attention. The thought that might've crossed her mind was "two can play this game." She seemed to have him fooled by feigning innocence. It's amusing to see that she has him wrapped around her finger. I thought she'd be smart to not easily fall for someone like him. It's like she was teaching him a lesson on what it's like to be played with. If he really does feel love towards her, he'd experience a sensation like a knife had been stabbed through his heart from hearing that remark coming from her.

I find it interesting how you portray Myungsoo's character in this story. He has a motive behind everything that he does. Although everything seems hopeless to him knowing that his life is short-lived, the one thing that's been making him feel alive is music. It's a good release for him to express himself and vent. This passion has given him a purpose to serve while he's still alive. His character development is something to anticipate. Hyemi may be just the person to change his outlook on life by getting him to see things from her perspective.

The third and the fourth chapters look so similar except the remark made by Hyemi at the end of both. What's up with that? It's like deja vu. Did that really happen in his daydream? That's the only explanation that I can come up with for the similarities.

Seeing the title "Time Limit" makes me think of death. Things that have a limit don't last forever. They're only around for a certain time period until it's time for them to go after its purpose is served. I became interested in this story's theme to see what the plot is like, so I decided to give this fic a chance. It is refreshing to see a story with this kind of content that's written with your originality.

Knowing that his time would eventually be up, Myungsoo looks at life pessimistically and gives up hope. He didn't see how life could be worth living since he won't be around long enough to have his own future like everybody else. Since he doesn't want anybody to be sad because of him when the time comes for him to leave this world, he decided to mistreat and disrespect everybody toprevent them from gettin close to him and treating him with love or kindness. Being hated by others means that they won't be missing him when he dies. This is what he must be thinking psychologically in carrying out such insolent actions. By looking at it deeply to see what's he's like as a person inside, he doesn't seem as bad as what others make him out to be. Hyemi must be referring to his nature by calling him "Ugly Casanova." During their first meeting, she did remark about him being "more than a jerk" and "heartless." He did hurt her best friend, Eunna, deeply without any consideration of her feelings. Since she really did mean it by giving him that name (which is an insult to his ego), there's no taking it back. The truth must've hurt, which is why it's hard for him to accept it. That time, she did have a right to be furious because someone had intentionally hurt one of her loved ones. Though, she's got a point about her tiredness getting the best of her that made her not be in control of herself. It sounds cheesy when Myungsoo said this line to Hyemi, "I've never believed in love, but then I saw you."
