jonghyun finally understood. it took him years to accept that he had been played for a fool--a fool in love. he regretted blaming her for what was his becoming. he tried to remember what she was like before, but all he could see was red. all he could feel was anger. for years, he had thought she had handed him down to the dogs. when in reality, both of them were thrown to be plagued by hatred and cruelty. they were both prisoners of this vicious industry.

what was their crime and what had they lost? their innocence.

now, almost thirty, he understood that none of it was their fault and the world they live in took more than what was given. he had grown out of his rage and became more matured. he had gained experiences and learned not to let anyone control him anymore. he even started to remember what he liked about her. she was sweet, kind and had remained beautiful throughout the years. she was a wonderful person then, and maybe she still is now.

jonghyun reached out to touch her and say his greetings, but she turned first, her eyes meeting his in mild surprise.

and, all it took was one look.

jonghyun found himself engulfed in the bitterness of the past, harrowing in fear, insecurities and wounds he thought were long healed. the pain of heartbreak and the slap of reality weighed heavy on his head and what was left of his heart. he should have accepted the truth, but the truth about his first love was nothing but lies.
