Sooyoung sighed softly in contentment as she gazed at the peaceful, calm face of a sleeping Donghae. She could spend forever just looking at him and she’d be happy. The white sheet was wrapped tightly around their bodies and though their air felt cold and frosty, she was warm. She carefully moved so that she was lying on her side, facing him; her leg brushing slightly against the hairs of his.
Sooyoung blushed.
Oh so easily, the memories of the night before flooded back into her memory. The feeling was indescribable, no matter how cliché and cheesy it sounded. For so long, the kind of love that Donghae had for her was absent in her life and now they’ve crossed paths again, it felt like she fell in love for the first time. It would seem odd how happy and blissful she felt, considering everything that happened the day before. Sooyoung squeezed her eyes shut, pushing the thoughts out of her mind. She couldn’t let herself think of everything that could have happened.
She was safe.
She was in love.
That was all that mattered.
Her eyes opened and she continued to stare at his handsome face.
But still Sooyoung couldn’t help but think if she and Donghae could have confessed to each other if yesterday’s events didn’t happen. Maybe. Maybe not. All this time, they had been both paralyzed by their hesitations, their selfless hearts that only thought about what was best for the better. It was good to be selfish, she concluded, and nothing in this world could equal how it was being in love with Lee Donghae.
The hand that was above the sheet reached up to gently touch his wounded face. Her fingers softly danced against the bruised skin and she pulled her hand away when he winced slightly in his sleep. Sooyoung sighed; if only this would be the first and last time Donghae would get hurt like this. But she knew it was just wishful thinking. The arm that was previously exposed above the sheet was soon underneath, carefully wrapping itself around his bare waist.
Sooyoung snuggled closer against his warm body; their noses touching and their lips merely centimetres apart. She closed her eyes. “I love you.”
“I love you too.”
Her eyes snapped open at the feeling of his lips moving against hers; her eyes locking with his still groggy yet happy eyes. His arm slid beneath her and he wrapped it around her own waist, carefully pulling her as close as they could. Bare skin touched bare skin and Sooyoung turned crimson; her heart fluttering and a tingling sensation running wild in her body. Donghae chuckled huskily at her reaction, merely burying his face in the nape of her neck.
“Did I wake you?”
“I don’t mind.” His breath tickled her neck and she stiffened for a moment, only to relax soon after.
“Are you sure?” The brunette asked.
“Did you sleep well?” Donghae asked in return.
Sooyoung easily heard the underlying implication in his tone. “I did. Did you, oppa?”
“I did.” He pulled away slightly to meet her eyes. “What are we going to do now?”
“I don’t know.” She answered truthfully. “Oppa… Can we just… Can we…”
“Can we just what?” His voice was soothing, encouraging.
“Can we just be happy with what we have now? Can we just make this last as long as we can?” Sooyoung looked at him imploringly, hoping that he would understand.
Donghae nodded all too eagerly. “Of course, Soo. Of course.”
She beamed at him. “I love you.”
“I love you too.”
