Sideways Hourglass
Description
"Tempus edax rerum — Time is the devourer of things”
There’s that stereotypical love story, two lovers fall in love but there’s something keeping them apart, whether it’s disapproval from families, or that they live a thousand miles apart, it seems like no one can ever be happy together, huh? For Victoria and Changmin, the barrier wasn’t visible, but proved to be the strongest of them all: time. However all barriers have ways of being holes, perhaps a crack, gap, tear, hole, mailbox. Yes, mailbox.
Upon renting a new house to attend university, Victoria soon discovered that the mailing system isn’t exactly normal, as everyday, her mail usually consisted of advertisements and newspapers that were three years into the future, and someone else's bills. It’s not until she gets an actual letter does she realize what was actually wrong about the orange mailbox, and the moment she replies to that letter, is the best and stupidest decision she has ever made.
Changmin always had to pay bills online. It seemed like his mailbox was just simply ignored by the mailman, or perhaps not, as his fair share of flyers did come, just rather oddly. The ads were alway with the date of 2008, three years ago. He never expected a reply from his own address when he had sent that complaint letter to the post office, but as he opened it, he was dragged into a world of mystery, confusion, and love.

Foreword
July 2, 1999
The sun was burning intensely, contradicting the humid and uncomfortable day, as a frustrated dark-haired college girl awaited her lover’s letter. She stared at the hideous orange mailbox, and shifted her glance elsewhere then immediately back, as if somehow, the fraction of a second was going to make that letter appear any faster.
Time is ticking. She punched the mailbox in fury, like she usually reacts: poorly. And poorly she reacted, when she found out her parents were making her go home in the summer, instead of letting her stay with him.
They met through mail, and through time. They somehow were able to communicate, though the circumstances didn’t exactly allow them to. You see, they lived in different time periods, and through one gap, they were bonded together, by a mailbox, or as she liked to call it: destiny.
She never had time to tell him she was leaving in the summer, she had so much time to, but it seemed like whenever they had the chance to write to the other, there was always too much to say, too much to talk about and her departure never came up. In the morning she realized this, and quickly wrote him a note informing him about her absence. However, until this day, she has never received the reply. No, he definitely sent the reply, she just didn’t live to see it.
But anyway, back to that day. Her suitcases were in a neat pile while she sat on the biggest, waiting. Waiting for the taxi, and more importantly, waiting for the response. Sadly to say, the taxi came first, and off with it she went.
She never made it to the airport. Accidents do happen, and this time, as it did take the girls life, more damage was inflicted on the poor boy, whose heart, spirit, and soul was crushed. He blamed it on the box, which he sworn he’d forget, but never did.
For 8 years entirely, the hole of time was sealed. 8 years, passed by all too quickly, and pitiful duo who have had the misfortune of opening this gap, will have a series of miss happens, adventures, and accidents that will make us all realize, that if we had to power to control time, we wouldn’t.
