Help
Melting Ice“Yoori.” Sohyun called out with mixed feelings.
Fear, nervousness, hope, disappointment, pain and anticipation were all swirling like a mixture at the pit of her stomach. She flashed a weak smile at her friend who turned her back. It was a brief moment and Sohyun was certain she saw distaste in her eyes. The look she had on was as if she had seen an arch rival. She treated her as if she was someone who had taken away something she treasured the most. And maybe, she was partially right on this.
Yoori smirked in her direction, an action which Sohyun cannot comprehend.
“She used to only do that to those snobbish queenkas.” Sohyun thought quietly to herself.
“What can I do for you, Sohyun-ssi?” she asked.
The formality in her words made her wince. Sohyun cautiously stepped forward and held her hand in hers. In such a situation, she could only put down her anger, pride and shame to salvage their friendship. Their friendship which cracked for no apparent reason. It was her last attempt to hold onto her best friend. The person who brought her smile back onto her face when everyone else made her frown. The person who would stand by her with a foolish grin whenever things went wrong. The very person who made her believe in something called ‘Best Friends Forever’.
“Yoori, it really wasn’t me. I swear that I did not send those pictures in…”
No response.
“Myungsoo is my bias, you know that I wouldn’t do that right? Yoori, please. I need you to trust me. Only you. ”
“It hurts me to see us like this.” She whispered the last part.
Yoori heard her nonetheless and she fought back the urge to squeeze her hand.
She has his trust and that’s enough.
A small part of her heart has already believed in her but she was listened to the voice within her. That made Yoori flung Sohyun’s hand away and step back. Sohyun looked up in surprise as a tear slip from her widened eyes. Yoori then stepped another step back and away from the girl with a hurt look on now.
“I am not exactly interested in your business.” Yoori said those words as harshly as she could.
And she turned her back around, leaving behind Sohyun and their friendship.
As easily as things can be built, it can be broken. It’s just a matter of seconds.
“What kind of best friend doesn’t trust one another?” he questioned.
She stopped because she recognized his voice. Yoori did not turn back to face him, because she knew she couldn’t. Hoya walked up and she could feel his warmth nearing her back. Yoori felt tingles sent down her spine and if only, they were in a better situation.
“You like her?” she asked straightforwardly.
There came no reply. Slowly, Yoori turned around. She saw how Hoya has already walked away from her, towards Sohyun. He picked her up and wiped away those tears. Those tears which were shed for her. With clenched fists, she exited the scene. She was not needed there, like an extra to be removed. Both fury and jealousy began consuming her from the inside. The pain was unbearable and she felt as if her body was going to be torn apart.
Hoya was sitting across Sohyun who have used up all the tissue in his bag. He made a mental note to thank Dongwoo for stuffing it in his bag.
“Hey, I’ll help you prove your innocence.” Hoya began.
She looked up and those red, puffy eyes made Hoya soften. He flashed a reassuring smile.
“You’re going to look like a puff fish at this rate.” He joked.
“Thank you. Although I don’t know why you’re doing this, thank you.” She mumbled with tears shimmering in those beautiful eyes.
“All for you.” He said.
Myungsoo’s brows knitted when he saw the exchange.
Back in INFINITE’s dorm…
Myungsoo knocked on the door and waited.
“Who is it? Come on in.” Hoya shouted.
The visual entered their room and closed the door behind him. He glanced at Dongwoo and he got his message almost immediately. Dongwoo exited the room with his dinosaur soft toy. Hoya placed his notebook away and looked up with a questioning look. It was not usual to have L seeing him privately like this. And Hoya could sense something.
“I saw you together with that Park Sohyun today.” He began.
Hoya nodded, not seeing an issue about that.
“You know that she’s the person who sent the photos in, right?” he added.
“How sure are you, Myungsoo?” Hoya asked.
“I saw her on that day when the photos are taken.” L replied.
“That cannot really prove anything, L.” Hoya pointed out.
“The place Jiyeon and I-I… kissed was rather deserted. It is her because there’s no one else present.” He reasoned.
“There may be someone else there whom you did not notice.” He rationalized.
“Why are you siding her?” L flared up slightly.
“I am not.” Hoya said sternly as he stood up.
“Hoya, she’s an inspirit. She may be using this chance to get close to you, you know.” L suggested coldly.
“I already know she’s an inspirit To be exact, I knew it since before.” Hoya said.
“Then why?” L didn’t know what else to say.
“There are some things that do not require a reason.” He replied, looking into his eyes.
L turned away and was about to exit seeing the conversation leading to nowhere when Hoya spoke up, “Myungsoo, it wasn’t very nice to get the school population to gang up against her.”
Myungsoo smirked at his words and clucked his tongue.

Jiyeon tied her hair up in a loose manner as she entered the lift. She was told to hurry for the next period after her CF filming. She cursed inwardly about the pain of being an idol. However, she was still grateful for having such a busy schedule. Because it took her mind off many things. She didn’t even have time to entertain and be affected by some hate comments for ruining their Myungsoo oppa. As she hit the close button of the lift repeatedly, someone held his hand out and stopped the doors from shutting. The intruder entered with a forced smile. Jiyeon looked away and fidgeted uncomfortably.
“Let’s meet at the school garden after school."
