Chapter 4

BLOOM

2 days later.

The girls gathered in the practice room for the first class, as S team. Today's schedule is to focus more on the workout routine. A little hard for the new members Chaewon and Sakura, but not for Minha.

This workout routine is prepared by Soyeon PD, and Minha has been doing the same things since a young age. After doing this workout for years, Minha is proud of her toned abs obviously.

"I'm dying, unnie..." Sakura is laying on the floor, sweating after doing 3 sets of burpees. Meanwhile Chaewon, is almost passed out, eyes close and breathing hard. During the promotion as an IZ*ONE member, they never had this kind of workout routine.

As Minha watched Sakura and Chaewon struggle with the workout routine, she felt a mix of sympathy and admiration. She remembered her own first days of training, the sore muscles and the exhaustion. She knew how hard it was, how much determination it took to keep going.

Minha smiles at the young girls, extended a bottle of water to them. "You will get used to this soon. At least, you guys are better than me. I passed out for real after 3 sets of burpees before, and I really hate working out. But trust me, it's worth it." rubbing the abs underneath her shirt, the older girl made them curious.

"Unnie have abs?" Chaewon took the bottle and asked, looking at the not-sweating-much older girl.

Minha nodded, proudly. "You have abs because of this workout routine, unnie?" getting interested in the hidden abs, Chaewon gets up from the floor approaching Minha followed by the Japanese.

"I made this, with our workout routine for years." Minha let their tiny hands touch the abs while she pulled up the white tshirt. She can see the girls are amazed by the toned abs.

"Wow, this is what abs looks like in real life. I mean..I've never had one before. It must be cool to have abs like this." Sakura's fingers are tracing the abs while touching her own flat tummy at the same time.

"Right? Our choreo was hard but we never had this kind of workout routine before. I want abs like this too, unnie." Chaewon added, still touching the abs. The two girls suddenly back to the work out, they want to have abs like Minha.

Seeing their determination to have the same toned abs as her filled Minha with a sense of pride. It was a testament to their commitment, a sign that they were willing to push themselves to reach their goals. It made her feel hopeful for their future as a team. But Sakura looks struggling?

Minha felt a pang of concern. She didn't want them to push themselves too hard, to risk their health for the sake of appearance. She wanted them to be healthy, to take care of themselves. It was a delicate balance, one that she hoped they would learn to navigate.

When she saw Sakura struggling the most, Minha felt a rush of empathy. She knew how much Sakura hated working out, and it pained her to see the Japanese girl pushing herself so hard. She wanted to comfort her, to reassure her that it was okay to take it slow, to listen to her body.

Throughout the workout session, Minha found herself grappling with a whirlwind of emotions. There was sympathy, admiration, concern, and empathy. But above all, there was a sense of pride and hope for their future as a team.

"If you guys are ready to destroy yourself with this workout, then you can have abs like this too. But of course, abs is not everything. What matters is your health. Remember that okay?" assuring the girls with a bright smile on her face while patting their backs.

Not long after that, Soyeon PD enters the practice room and they get into position. "Annyeonghaseyo, I am Park Soyeon. I'm your choreographer and performance director for your team. And starting today, I'll start teaching you all the routine from workout and dance lessons. Anyway, Minha had the same lessons 3 months ago. I am aware of your past activities but I hope you can look up to Minha because she has more experience in dancing. She will help you with the lessons when I'm away. Do you understand?"

As Soyeon PD entered the room, Minha felt a familiar sense of respect and anticipation. She had worked with Soyeon PD before and knew her reputation for being strict and demanding. But she also knew that Soyeon PD was an excellent teacher, one who could bring out the best in her students.

When Soyeon PD praised her experience and assigned her the role of helping the new members, Minha felt a surge of pride. It was a responsibility she was ready to take on, a challenge she was eager to meet.

"YES!" the new girls nodded, Sakura and Chaewon were filled with a mix of nervousness and awe as they felt the cold aura from Soyeon PD. They had heard about her strictness, but experiencing it firsthand was a different matter. The room seemed to grow colder, the atmosphere more tense. Their hearts pounded in their chests, their palms grew sweaty.

They exchanged a glance, a silent agreement to support each other through this new challenge. Well, Minha gave a not-short brief about her training last night after they bombarded her with a lot of questions about Noze.

Soyeon PD is known for her meticulous attention to detail. She would often make Minha repeat a dance move or a workout routine multiple times until it was perfect. Even the smallest mistake was not overlooked, and Minha had to ensure that every move was executed with precision.

She set high standards for all her students. She expected Minha to always give her best, whether it was during a workout session or a dance practice. There was no room for half-hearted efforts, and Minha had to push herself to meet Soyeon PD's expectations.

She was very particular about punctuality and time management. Minha had to adhere to a strict schedule, with every minute accounted for. Being late or missing a session was not tolerated.

The training sessions under Soyeon PD were intense and demanding. Minha had to go through rigorous workout routines and dance practices, often leaving her exhausted by the end of the day. But it also helped her build stamina and improve her performance skills.

Soyeon PD was not one to mince words. If Minha made a mistake or didn't perform up to her standards, she would point it out directly. While it was tough to hear, it also helped Minha understand her weaknesses and work on improving them.

These experiences with Soyeon PD's strictness and demanding nature were challenging for Minha, but they also helped her grow as a performer. She learned the importance of discipline, hard work, and perseverance, lessons that she carried with her as she moved forward in her career.

If Minha didn't meet Soyeon PD's high expectations, there would be several consequences. Soyeon PD would not hesitate to provide direct and honest feedback.

She believed in constructive criticism and would point out where Minha fell short, and what she needed to improve. This could be tough to hear, but it was also a valuable learning experience.

Minha would have to redo the routines or exercises until she got them right. Soyeon PD was a firm believer in practice and repetition, and she would not let Minha move on until she had mastered the task at hand. This could mean long, grueling hours of practice, but it also ensured that Minha was always improving.

Lastly, if Minha consistently failed to meet Soyeon PD's expectations, it could potentially impact her position in the team. Soyeon PD was responsible for deciding the team's formation and line distribution, and she would not hesitate to make changes if she felt it was necessary for the team's success.

However, Soyeon PD was also a fair and understanding teacher. She knew that everyone had their strengths and weaknesses, and she would provide the necessary support and guidance to help Minha improve. She believed in Minha's potential and was committed to helping her reach it.

Despite their nervousness, there was also a sense of determination. They were here to learn, to grow, to become better performers. And they knew that Soyeon PD could help them achieve that. So, they steeled themselves, ready to face whatever Soyeon PD had in store for them.

They will start from basic workouts for the first day and continue practicing for the rest of the day. As expected, the ex-members of IZ*ONE are scared of Soyeon PD as well.

And just like that, 3 days have passed. Same routine everyday, until next new member arrived to join the S team. Jennifer Huh or Huh Yunjin, half Korean and half American girl arrived from New York.

She's looking all shy from head to toe, probably because she met new people but slowly making herself comfortable.

She's wearing a black leather jacket with a high cut converse. She greets the S team members with big reactions and it makes them burst out laughing.

Yunjin is familiar with Sakura and Chaewon, because she participated during Produce 48. The program that created IZ*ONE back in 2018.

When Yunjin first laid eyes on Sakura and Chaewon after so many years, a wave of nostalgia washed over her. Her heart fluttered with a mix of surprise and delight. Seeing their familiar faces brought back a flood of memories from their time together on Produce 48.

She felt a rush of warmth as she remembered the bonds they had formed during the competition, the shared struggles and triumphs. It was like stepping back in time, a sweet reminder of their shared past.

At the same time, she felt a sense of excitement. They were no longer competitors but teammates, and the thought of working together again was thrilling. She looked forward to creating new memories with them, to growing and learning together as a team.

Despite her initial shyness, Yunjin couldn't help but break into a wide smile as she greeted them. Her eyes sparkled with joy and anticipation, a silent promise of the good times to come. The reunion was emotional, but it was also a new beginning, a fresh start for their friendship.

Surprisingly, Yunjin knows the older girl as well. "Oh my god, I watched your fancams!" they shook hands and Minha is still laughing. The staff is also laughing with them, happy with the funny and sweet interactions between the members.

"We're one team now, Yunjin." Chaewon smiles, holding the American girl's hand. The last time they met was 4 years ago after the end of the survival show.

One of the most vivid memories was their performance of "Into the New World". They had practiced tirelessly for that performance, pushing each other to perfect every move and note. The camaraderie they developed during those long hours of practice was something Yunjin cherished.

The moment they stepped onto the stage, their nerves giving way to exhilaration, was a memory that still brought a smile to her face.

Another memory that stood out was the time they spent together off-stage. The late-night conversations, the shared meals, the laughter and tears - these were the moments that truly bonded them. They supported each other through the highs and lows of the competition, becoming each other's pillars of strength.

Yunjin also remembered the day of the final results. The anticipation, the nervous excitement, the disappointment of not making it into the final group - these were emotions that were etched into her memory.

But seeing Sakura and Chaewon make it into IZ*ONE had filled her with a sense of pride and happiness for her friends.

The arrival of Yunjin definitely stirs up some excitement among the S team members. They're all curious about the new member, eager to get to know her better.

Sakura and Chaewon, having known Yunjin from their time on Produce 48, are thrilled to see her again. They warmly welcome her into the team, reminiscing about old times and catching up on what's happened since they last met. Their familiarity with Yunjin helps to ease her into the new environment.

These memories of their time together on Produce 48 were precious to Yunjin. They were a testament to their journey, a reminder of their shared past.

And now, as they reunited as members of the same team, she looked forward to creating new memories with them.

Minha, on the other hand, is meeting Yunjin for the first time. She's a bit surprised when Yunjin recognizes her from her fancams, but she's also amused and flattered. She finds Yunjin's enthusiasm infectious and they quickly hit it off.

The rest of the team members are also intrigued by Yunjin. They're impressed by her confidence and talent, and they're looking forward to working with her. They make an effort to make her feel welcome, engaging her in conversation and showing her around the dorm.

Overall, the S team members react positively to Yunjin's arrival. They see her as a valuable addition to the team and they're excited to see what she will bring to the table.

After the greetings, Yunjin was invited to join them at the new dorm. They have split to the next door because they have only 3 rooms each dorm, and Minha is staying with Sakura, while Chaewon with the new girl, Yunjin.

*******

There are a lot of articles about Sakura and Chaewon after they joined Hybe Labels. Knetz is excited to know what kind of group, Hybe will create with the ex IZ*ONE members. The exclusive contract for all of them is quite a mystery that puts them into the dungeon until the debut date is confirmed.

After joining Hybe Labels, Sakura and Chaewon experienced a whirlwind of emotions.

Another popular theory was that Minha might be joining as a mentor or trainer for the new group. Given her experience and expertise, fans speculated that she could provide valuable guidance and training to the younger members of the group.

Despite the , some fans held onto the hope that Minha would be a full-fledged member of the group. They believed that her talent and experience would add a unique dynamic to the group and were excited to see her perform on stage again.

While these theories were purely speculative, they reflected the public's excitement and anticipation for Minha's potential involvement with the new group.

The S team members were seen in front of the entrance a few times, arriving and leaving together with the same car. People made an assumption that the 4 of them are part of the new girl group from Hybe.

Yunjin's identity was spread all over the internet, shocking people. She was eliminated in the survival show, stopping her from going to the final. But people- most likely her fans are shocked to see her again after 4 years.

When Yunjin was first spotted with the girls, the reaction was one of surprise and excitement.

Many fans were thrilled to see her again after her elimination from Produce 48 in 2018. They remembered her talent and potential from the show and were excited to see her return to the music scene.

There was also a fair amount of shock. Many had assumed that after her elimination from Produce 48, Yunjin had moved on from her dreams of being an idol. Seeing her with the girls sparked a flurry of speculation about her role in the new group.

The sight of her in the same car with the girls fueled these theories, adding to the excitement and anticipation. Despite the surprise, the overall reaction to Yunjin's appearance was positive.

Yunjin left a lasting impression on fans during her time on Produce 48 with her unique talents and potential. She was known for her strong and stable vocals.

Being half Korean and half American, Yunjin was fluent in both Korean and English. This made her stand out and added to her potential as an idol in the global music scene.

Yunjin's warm and friendly personality endeared her to fans. She was known for her positive attitude and resilience, qualities that fans admired and remembered.

Dorm 2.

The girls have an off day today. Which is glad, because people are waiting in front of Hybe Labels to see them. At least they can get away from the chaos for today.

The kitchen was a cozy, welcoming space, bathed in the soft glow of the afternoon sun streaming in through a nearby window. The counters were clean and uncluttered, save for a cutting board with freshly cut apples and a knife.

A few pots and pans hung neatly from hooks above the stove, reflecting the light in a comforting, homey way.

They were sitting on high stools at the kitchen island, a sturdy wooden structure that served as their dining table and prep area. The island was covered with a smooth, marble top, cool to the touch.

A bowl of fresh fruit sat in the center, a colorful centerpiece amidst the otherwise minimalist decor.

Nearby, a refrigerator hummed softly, adorned with a few magnets and notes. On the other side of the room, a small, round clock ticked away, the only sound in the otherwise quiet kitchen.

The rest of the dorm was just as inviting. The living area was furnished with comfortable sofas and a coffee table, a cozy space for the girls to relax and unwind. The walls were adorned with framed photos and posters, a testament to their journey so far.

Overall, the dorm had a warm, lived-in feel to it. It was a place where the girls could be themselves, away from the spotlight and the chaos of their professional lives. It was their sanctuary, their home away from home.

"They must be shocked to see you again, Jen." Minha is massaging her left shoulder while waiting for Yunjin to finish cutting the red apples. Both of them spoke in English when no one was around.

Jennifer is Yunjin's english name and they're more comfortable speaking in English together. Minha always stayed abroad for vacations when she was young, so she's fluent in English.

When Minha and Yunjin are alone, their conversations in English often revolve around a variety of topics.

They talk about their experiences in the music industry, sharing stories and lessons they've learned along the way. Minha, with her years of experience as a backup dancer, often shares insights and advice with Yunjin, who is relatively new to the industry.

They also discuss their dreams and aspirations. Yunjin talks about her hopes for the new group and her desire to make a successful comeback after her elimination from Produce 48.

Minha, on the other hand, shares her excitement about stepping into the spotlight after years of being in the background.

Sometimes, their conversations are more casual and lighthearted. They chat about their favorite music, movies, and books, discovering shared interests and introducing each other to new things. They also talk about their daily lives, sharing anecdotes and funny stories from their time in the dorm.

Despite the language difference, their conversations are always filled with laughter and understanding. They've found a comfortable rhythm in their friendship, a bond that transcends language and cultural barriers.

"I thought they forgot about me." the young girl is making a sad face, while putting away the knife and feeding Minha with the fresh cut apple.

"You cut it beautifully, thank you, Jen!" the older girl said as Yunjin took the seat next to her. "But hey, they're so loyal. We shall not underestimate those loyal fans okay..." Minha pats Yunjin's head, smiling.

"I was told the same thing before, and I'm here because of my loyal supporters too. Now they know about us, they've seen us. They must be expecting something from us. We can't let them down." Minha's turn to feed the young girl.

"Most importantly, let's try to remember each of them." another piece of fruit to Yunjin's mouth.

"You know Kkura remembers a lot of her fans?" Yunjin's eyes widened in shock as Minha kept feeding her.

"I know right? Kkura is amazing. She had a long career and she challenged herself to debut again with us. We have so much to learn from her, Jen." the young girl continued to chew with full of apples.

Minha greatly admires Kkura's career for several reasons. She admires Kkura's resilience and determination. Despite having a successful career, Kkura chose to challenge herself and participate in Produce 48, essentially starting from scratch. This willingness to take risks and step out of her comfort zone is something that Minha deeply respects.

Minha admires Kkura's ability to connect with her fans. Kkura's ability to remember her fans and make them feel special is something that Minha finds truly remarkable. She believes that this is a testament to Kkura's genuine love for her fans and her dedication to her career.

Lastly, Minha admires Kkura's talent and versatility. As a singer, dancer, and actress, Kkura has proven herself to be a multi-talented artist. Minha respects Kkura's commitment to honing her skills and constantly improving herself.

Overall, Minha sees Kkura as a role model and inspiration. She aspires to emulate Kkura's dedication, resilience, and connection with her fans in her own career.

Minha didn't even notice Yunjin's struggles and kept feeding. "I want- " Yunjin stops Minha's hand, frowning cutely. She shook her head making the older girl laugh.

"I'm really sorry, Jen, hahahaha." Yunjin slowly drinks as Minha helps to rub her back. They were laughing together when Chaewon returned to the dorm from her parents'house.

"Oh? Minha unnie is here?" both of them look at the front door.

"I'm here to hangout with Jen. What's up? Why are you here? Aren't you supposed to be home later at night?" Minha asked in confusion while Yunjin took the chance to feed Chaewon.

"Thank you..." the American walked to the sink to do the dishes.

"My mom went to work early this morning, I don't have anything to do by myself, so I just came home early. And I feel unwell since last night..." the word 'unwell' makes the older member worry including Yunjin.

"Have you eaten yet?" Minha asked as she wraps her arm around Chaewon's shoulder.

"I had chicken soup this morning..." both of them went to Chaewon's room, following the short girl.

Chaewon's room was a serene oasis of white. The walls were painted a soft, creamy white, creating a calm and peaceful atmosphere. The furniture followed the same color scheme, from the white wooden bed frame to the sleek white desk in the corner.

The bedding was also white, fluffy and inviting, like a cloud. The only splash of color in the room was a bright orange tiger plushie, sitting proudly on the bed. Its vibrant color stood out against the white backdrop, adding a playful touch to the otherwise minimalist decor.

Minha helps Chaewon to change when the girl is struggling to do it by herself, and puts her in bed. Yunjin is pouting at the door, feeling bad to see the pale Chaewon.

"Let us know if you need anything. I'm staying here with you and Jen until Kkura returns from Japan. Okay?" the sick girl smiled and nodded.

"Thank you, unnie..." both Minha and Yunjin left the sick girl to sleep and rest.

The living room, where they were planning to watch the Harry Potter marathon, was a cozy and comfortable space. A large, plush sofa dominated the room, its soft cushions perfect for sinking into during movie marathons.

A coffee table sat in front of the sofa, scattered with a few snacks and drinks for their movie night. The walls were adorned with framed photos and posters, adding a personal touch to the room.

A large flat-screen TV was mounted on the wall opposite the sofa, ready for their movie night. The room was softly lit, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere, perfect for a relaxing evening in.

In the 3rd movie 'Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban', Minha and Yunjin were too engrossed on the tv to notice the sick girl coming out from her room. When Chaewon walks closer to the living room, Yunjin stands from the couch immediately with a worried face.

"Do you need anything, Chaewon unnie? You can just call us." Minha paused the movie when Yunjin grabbed Chaewon's arm approaching the grey couch.

"Can I join the marathon? I took a long nap already." they're aware of her being a big fan of Harry Potter.

"Come..." Minha patted the empty space next to her with a sisterly smile on her face. So they continued the marathon together till the moon replaced the sun, and Chaewon leaned closer to Minha's shoulder.

As the movie played on, the girls were completely engrossed. Minha and Yunjin would occasionally exchange excited glances during thrilling scenes, their eyes wide with anticipation.

Chaewon, despite her unwell state, was equally captivated. Her eyes sparkled with delight as she watched her favorite characters come to life on the screen.

During the suspenseful parts, Chaewon would clutch her bright orange tiger plushie a little tighter, her eyes never leaving the screen.

Minha and Yunjin would glance at her worriedly, but Chaewon would just wave them off with a small smile, her attention still fixed on the movie.

When the funny scenes came on, the room would fill with their laughter. Even Chaewon, who was feeling unwell, couldn't help but giggle at the antics of the characters. Her laughter was soft and light, a testament to her love for the Harry Potter series.

As the movie progressed, Chaewon began to lean closer to Minha, her eyes growing heavy. But she fought off the sleep, determined to finish the movie.

Minha, noticing her struggle, gently wrapped an arm around her, providing a comfortable support for Chaewon to lean on.

Overall, their reactions to the movie were a mix of excitement, anticipation, and pure joy. Despite Chaewon's unwell state, she was determined to enjoy the movie marathon with her friends, a testament to her love for Harry Potter and her strong bond with Minha and Yunjin.

Yunjin wraps the blanket around Chaewon's petite body as she walks away from the living room. It's almost dinner time and Yunjin talked about cooking pasta to the members earlier today.

She saw the older member about to get up from the couch to help her, but she shook her head. The sick girl is clinging to Minha's arm so Yunjin wants her to stay with Chaewon. Pasta is easy to make, she doesn't mind doing it by herself.

As Yunjin moves to the kitchen, she might take a moment to look back at her friends, a soft smile on her face. She's content knowing that she's doing something nice for them. As she starts preparing the pasta, she might hum a tune to herself, enjoying the quiet solitude of the kitchen.

The smell of the cooking pasta soon fills the dorm, a comforting aroma that makes the place feel even more like home. Despite being alone in the kitchen, Yunjin doesn't feel lonely. She knows she's contributing to the well-being of her friends, and that gives her a sense of fulfillment.

At the same time, there's a touch of nervousness. She wants the pasta to turn out well, not just because she wants to impress her friends, but because she wants them to enjoy the meal and feel comforted by it.

She's aware that food has the power to comfort and heal, and she hopes her pasta can do just that for Chaewon.

But above all, Yunjin feels a deep sense of camaraderie and love for her friends. As she stirs the pasta and adjusts the seasoning, she thinks about the bond they share, the journey they've been on together, and the memories they've created. And she feels grateful to be a part of it all.

In the quiet of the kitchen, with the aroma of the pasta filling the air, Yunjin feels at peace. She's doing something she loves, for the people she cares about. And in that moment, she wouldn't want to be anywhere else.

Almost 2 months with the members, this is the first time Chaewon got sick. She didn't even know it because of the tight schedules or the weather, but it got worse compared to yesterday.

She took Minha's big hand, intertwined it getting the attention from the girl. She grew quite fond of her in a short time.

Throughout the movie, Minha's attention was divided between the screen and Chaewon. Every so often, she would glance down at the younger girl, checking if she was comfortable or needed anything.

Her eyes were filled with concern, and she would occasionally reach out to gently brush away a stray lock of hair from Chaewon's face or adjust the blanket around her.

Each time Chaewon stirred or coughed, Minha would ask softly, "Are you okay, Pupu?" Her voice was gentle, filled with worry for her friend.

Chaewon didn't even do this to Sakura, her former member of IZ*ONE. Chaewon's bond with Minha developed quickly due to a few key factors.

Minha's caring nature played a significant role. As an older member, Minha naturally took on a nurturing role within the group. She was always there to offer advice, lend a listening ear, or simply provide a comforting presence. This made Chaewon feel safe and cared for, which helped to strengthen their bond.

Minha's consistent emotional warmth contrasted with Sakura's fluctuating emotional state. While Sakura could be warm and affectionate one moment and distant the next, Minha was consistently warm and caring. This consistency made Chaewon feel more secure and comfortable around Minha.

Their shared experiences and time spent together also contributed to their close bond. Whether it was practicing together, sharing meals, or simply hanging out in their dorm, these shared moments allowed them to understand each other better and develop a deeper connection.

In contrast, while Chaewon and Sakura shared a bond as former members of IZ*ONE, their relationship was different. Sakura's fluctuating emotional state could have made it more challenging for Chaewon to feel close to her.

However, this doesn't mean that their bond was any less significant, just different.

In the end, every relationship is unique and develops at its own pace. Chaewon's bond with Minha is just one example of the many unique relationships within the group.

"Cold?" the air-conditioning is not even on, but she can feel herself shivering. Nodded at the older girl as she closed her eyes.

"You can come closer, but you need to let go of my hand first if you don't mind." Minha's body is always warm. Chaewon lets go of her hand and Minha pulls her closer, cuddling on the couch. "Hope you feel better, Pupu."

Meanwhile, in the kitchen, Yunjin was fully focused on making the perfect soup. She was following her grandma's recipe, a comforting blend of chicken, vegetables, and herbs. She wanted to get it just right, knowing that a good, hot soup could do wonders for a cold.

As she chopped the vegetables and stirred the broth, she could almost hear her grandma's voice guiding her, reminding her to be patient and to put love into every stir. She was determined to make the soup as comforting and healing as possible for Chaewon.

Their reactions to Chaewon's condition showed their deep care and concern for her. Despite the relaxed atmosphere of the movie marathon, they were both constantly aware of Chaewon's wellbeing, doing their best to make her feel better.
