None of them could believe their eyes. It was they had transported back into a memory with the tape. Mark felt his body, his smaller fingers than what he was used to checking for the tape. It was still tucked in his coat, the male pulling it out just to see that it looked new.

It did not look new just a moment ago.

There was a grunt, Mark looking up to see that Haechan was by the door of the clock tower. His fingers tapped on the door, the male finally trying to push the door open. It did not budge. Jeno and Bunny had their heads out of window, the conversation of the people by the tree going on naturally just as they heard it on the tape.

“Staying in town with Teddy,” Do Kyungsoo was saying, Jeno wondering who Teddy was.

He was still in shock how real everything felt when something clicked. He whipped his head around, narrowing his eyes at Haechan.

“Did you drug the wine?” he demanded, Haechan turning around to give him look of disbelief.

“What?” he asked back.

Even Bunny who was heard it frowned at her husband. Though in her mind, it was hard to call him her husband at this moment because they both looked fourteen.

“Honey,” she began, cringing at her own voice. “That is absurd! Haechan would never.”

“I…” Jeno automatically felt bad entertaining the idea of whatever he just accused Haechan of. “Sorry.”

Haechan waved a hand casually. He was the chill-est one in the group and never really took offense in anything. “Don’t blame ya. This is some crazy . I don’t think even shrooms can do this.”

“Hey! Hey!” Mark yelled. “Matthew! I’m here!”

Jeno, Haechan, Bunny’s eyes widened when they heard Mark yelling. He had ran up the clock tower to a floor above, sticking his head out of the window to call him brother.

“F—” Haechan cursed, all three of them rushing over to Mark. But it seemed like there was nothing to worry about because none of the three who were sitting under the tree looked up. “I don’t think they see you, Mark. Or hear you.”

Mark turned around and leaned against the wall, his knees weakening before he reached up and massaged between his eyes.

“I thought maybe I would be able to talk to him one last time,” he whispered, Haechan giving him an empathetic pat on the shoulder.

“Well, talking to him face to face is better than talking to him from the clock tower, Mark. I can’t even push the door open.” Haechan, as usual, was trying to take control of the situation by trying to lessen the tension. “Might be because it’s a day before summer?”

“They’ve always locked up the clock tower the day before school ends,” Jeno told them when he noticed that they were missing a member. They could hear the faint conversation traveling to their ears.

“Park Chanyeol,” the student who rushed up to the group sitting under the tree said, followed by Byun Baekyun’s voice snapping at her. “The gym.”

The four friends who were up in the clock tower could see the group standing up and rushing to the gym, Do Kyungsoo holding his camera and pointing it to the ground as he sped through the empty field.

In a few minutes, Do Kyungsoo would see Park Chanyeol’s body facing a blank wall in the gym with blood pouring from his mouth. Screams could be heard from the direction of the gym.

Just like that, a few moments after they disappeared, the clock tower began to spin.

Over and over again until it stopped.

And it was night again.

Five minutes after

“I know I keep saying Hakuna Matata, but this is mass hysteria!” Bunny screeched the moment she woke up, one of her braids undone. She struggled to stand up, whipping her head around. “We went into the tapes!”

Mark gasped, looking around. “We’re back….”

Haechan and Jeno could feel the disappointment from Mark. They knew that a part of Mark ached to speak to his brother. They knew that Matthew’s death at the Marcier Boarding School was something that Mark never knew the details of. His parents refused to talk about it, telling Mark that it was likely suicide.

Since there was a note.

Mark never believed it. His brother had no suicidal tendencies. Sitting down for a moment, Haechan was the one who broke the silence.

“I bet Grandpa really wanted to find out what happened to Park Chanyeol, huh?” he said softly. “His poor soul probably didn’t leave in peace.”

The Grandpa they knew cared about his students and treated them like their own. Jeno felt a pang in his heart, knowing how empathetic Grandpa was. Jeno, Haechan, Mark, and Renjun had more memories of Grandpa being a warm and friendly adult than a disciplinary figure.

“Did they never find Park Chanyeol’s killer?” Bunny asked suddenly, frowning. “I don’t ever recall hearing anything in the news about someone being horribly killed this way.”

“When Renjun died,” Haechan began. “It also wasn’t on the news.”

Bunny made a face. “But wasn’t Renjun’s death suicide? Didn’t he drink bleach?”

“Yes, honey.” Jeno pushed himself up to stand up. “But how are we sure that it wasn’t on the news? We were fourteen then. I didn’t listen to the news or read BBC when I had time.”

Haechan checked his watch, the male smacking his lips. “That’s right. Unless we start digging, we wouldn’t know, would we?”

Jeno glanced at Mark who was looking quietly out the window. He was going through one of his moments, Haechan looking at Jeno and jerking his head to the side.

“I got him,” he whispered to Jeno who gave him a grateful smile. “You lovebirds go to bed. The kids will be up early tomorrow. We can all collectively freak out tomorrow and pretend we were just drunk.”

Jeno grabbed Bunny’s hand, the male giving on last look behind him to see Haechan go towards Mark, a hand reaching out to clasp him on the shoulder.

“Honey?” Bunny asked softly, the two walking down the hallways. Jeno let out an exhausted hum, his wife giving him a small smile. “I’m so glad you didn’t die on your school grounds.”

Jeno laughed. “If I did, would you find out who killed me?”

Bunny rolled her eyes, pressing herself to his side just to rub her face on the sleeve of his shirt.

“I would avenge the killer,” she told him. “Because that’s how much I love you.”

Jeno smiled, kissing her forehead, and telling her how much he loved her too.

He knew that tomorrow would come, and they'd have to talk about what happened. 

But Jeno felt exhausted to his bones, the male looking behind his shoulder one last time to see that Haechan was talking to Mark in soft voices. 

At least he wasn't alone. 

The next afternoon, Marcier Gardens

Jeno woke up when the sun was already blazing high in the sky. He had bolted up just to realize that it was almost noon, the male feeling the other side of the bed to notice that Bunny was not around.

He rushed to brush his teeth and wash his face, calling out for Bunny.

“Over here, honey!” her voice sounded from the back gardens behind the kitchen. Jeno had no idea why he was so nervous… He was sure that nothing in the house would be able to hurt them. To Jeno, the past is the past.

His daughter, Liz, was sitting ar the table (his son was ON the table), and Jeno gave his wife a peck on the lips before raising his eyebrows.

“Where’s Mark?” he asked, Haechan turning the newspaper over.

“No idea. He wasn’t in his bedroom this morning. Goodmorning to you too, Mr. Early Riser,” Haechan greeted playfully. “Must have had long nights before this.”

“I believe Daddio has sleep debt,” Liz said suddenly, Jeno noti
