As Byul drove around the city, she couldn't help but feel a sense of unease.

Her mind raced with the events from earlier and she couldn't help but wonder if this was an omen of more things to come.

Wheein's appearance and her father's death couldn't have been all a coincidence.

Something's coming. She can feel it.

The Gods who abandoned them long ago are returning. They are coming back soon. Everything is either falling into place or falling apart. It only depends which side you're on.

When Byul and Yong exited the portal, they were met with the sight of tall buildings and bustling streets unlike they've seen before. There were no quaint houses surrounded by patches of land here. Just skyscrapers and neon lights and people coming and going.

They definitely weren't in the magical realm anymore.

It took them a little while to realize that they ended up at one of the busiest night spots in South Korea. They looked around them and tried to take it all in but it was too much to take in all at once.

They ended up walking around aimlessly until they found a place to sit and rest for a while.

"So, what now, Byul?" Yong asked. "What are we doing? Where do we go from here?"

Those were all valid questions, unfortunately, Byul never planned this far ahead. When she said she wanted to leave the magical realm, it was more out of spite and anger than anything else.

She never expected for Yong to come with her, which now she realizes, complicates things.

If she knew Yong would be tagging along, she would have thought of a better escape plan instead of walking through the portal with no real sense of direction. Byul sighed heavily and took a deep breath. She then slowly started to think about all of the different things that could be done now that they are both in this new world.

Byul felt Yong lean on her shoulder, "Hey… Don't think too hard. We'll figure it out." Yong said softly and added, "As long as we're together."

As softly as Yong had said it, Byul still heard her loud and clear and she wonders what Yong means by it or what she means to Yong. They sat together in silence for a bit and then Byul finally said, "Yong, why did you come with me?"

"Because I didn't want to see you leave." Yong answered simply.

"But why? If you have a crush on me, you can just say that too," Byul said in a teasing tone.

Yong smirked at her, “How about I crush your neck with my hands, non-magic?"

"So ," Byul laughed. In that moment, she realized that she wasn't offended when Yong called her a non-magic. In fact, it felt more of an endearment to her than anything else. But she also couldn't help but annoy Yong, "So, we're back to name calling now, huh?"

Yong giggled in return, "How else do you want me to call you?”

Before Byul could answer, a loud scream echoed through the night and both Byul and Yong jumped up and ran towards the sound.

When they arrived at the scene, they saw a young teen girl lying on the ground groaning in pain while holding her bleeding left arm close to her chest. A man stood in front of her, brandishing what looked to be a very sharp, silver ice pick.

Without hesitation, Byul tackled the attacker while Yong ran towards the girl's side and pulled her close to protect her.

From the very beginning, Byul was at a disadvantage. The man was twice her size and he held an ice pick that could stab her right through her heart and while she could easily fightback using her magic, she hesitated.

Because of Byul's small stature, it became difficult for her to fight the man on even ground. She tried grabbing the ice pick from him but every time she moved towards him, he would lunge at her and push her back.

This couldn't go on forever though so eventually she ended up on the ground with the man on top of her holding the ice pick just above while his other hand was on her neck, choking her.

As she struggled to keep from losing her consciousness, a few other men started showing up. They didn't help Byul's assailant, instead, they walked menacingly over to where Yong and the injured girl were.

The fear that passed through Yong's face as the men came closer and closer to them made Byul realize that there was no way she was going to win this fight unless she used her magic.

With that thought, she held on the man's wrist tightly and whispered hoarsely, "Ater Ignis".

The man froze when he heard the words as if recognizing what they meant and then he felt the burning black flame from his wrist. He stumbled back and started flailing his arm that was slowly being engulfed by the black flames from the spell.

Once Byul was free of the man, she stood up slowly and Yong recognized the look in her eyes. It was the look of someone who had every intent to hurt someone else. Aside from the sinister energy radiating from Byul, her eyes had started to change color as well, from deep black to a deep red.

The men surrounding Yong and the girl suddenly came rushing towards Byul but her hand swiftly sliced the air and at once, all the men went flying through the air and landing loudly on the pavement.

Byul glanced at the men writhing in pain, "You should be ashamed... grown men preying on a young girl like this..." She said lowly before raising her arm again and pointed at the man who choked her earlier.

"Let's make this an even fight, shall we?"

"Are we there yet?" The young boy beside Byul asked while he started fidgeting with his seatbelt.

"Almost," Byul sighed but replied nonetheless, "Why? Are you hungry?" The boy nodded and then looked out the window.

Among the children, Baek was the youngest. He looks like a normal 12 year old boy, but he was a little skinny and pale. He liked wearing shirts and pants that were four times his size making him look even smaller. He's also quite shy and oftentimes doesn't speak unless you talk to him. His hair, which was always messy, shared the same color as his sister's, white with some black streaks here and there.
