"there lie, beyond the sun, an empire of gold," the man reads aloud to the children sitting on the floor, eager expressions on their faces. "bathed in warmth, it stands proud..."
he remembers the first time he saw the whole of the palace—encased in warm colors as if it were made from the sun, sutekh had gazed in awe. he had thought that was the most beautiful moment of his life; the kingdom he would rule when he became of age in the grasp of his little fingers.
sutekh would never forget it, those embers that had went aflame.

he sits by the open window, gazing at the horizon as the ships come and go. blue fades into pink then orange, the clouds carrying on to disappear at a slow pace.
his hold on the quill loosens and it falls from his fingers, yet sutekh doesn't notice, too caught up in the changing colors of the sky. the flashes of colors in his mind are distracting—they are of the palace, golden and tall; they are of the sun, golden and warm; they are of the flames, golden and scorching.
sutekh will never forget, for those embers had drowned him in burns.

i have more ideas as these are just small interludes that happen between the traveler's adventures before or after they meet these characters.
