prologue
Her Light00: Weddings could bring you biggest joy but also a tragedy.
"I, Chanyeol, take thee Sooyoung to be my wedded wife," the priest began, waiting for Chanyeol to repeat.
The male let no sound. He simply stared at the spot before him, ignoring everybody, including Sooyoung next to him who was confused as priest. This wasn't the time for his games. There are people and she doesn't like humiliating herself before so many guests.
At the corner of her eye, she caught Kaeri and Joohyun glaring at Chanyeol. If the glare could kill, Chanyeol would be dead. She grew tired of his jokes, he should know better. She would have stern talk later with him.
"Chanyeol."
"Dude.." Jongin warned, "grow up, this is no fun anymore."
Still silence.
Her fiance was taking too long to respond, his eyes were unfocused. He kept glancing towards her best friend Byul, as if she would give him sort of response. It was absurd. Yet again, a worm of doubt appeared. There was something at the way she looked at him.
A look of a pure love is reserved for your boyfriend instead of your best friend's fiance.
The first sign was before her but she ignored it.
Her stomach turned into knott, when her best friend got up, ignoring judgemental gazes of people. Unbothered, the other female stared at Chanyeol, ignoring her entirely. The look he gave her was the look of someone whom he can't have, a look of a pure torture.
An intense pain clenched her heart; still not ready to believe.
She had refused to believe everything that Kaeri told her. She was in denial even now. She was just overprotective. Just because she endured the similar doesn't mean it will happen to me. She would told herself.
What if her friend was right? What if Chanyeol was pretending whole this time?
But her mind and her soul were unsettled, recalling past week when Kaeri almost gave up to be her maid of honor but eventually Sooyoung convinced her. Insecurity got best of her. Her eyes caught a right moment. Byul slipped hand into Chanyeol's hand, glancing superiorly at Sooyoung.
Cover from her eyes disappeared.
In her brain Kaeri's words rang. Sure, he loves you. How easy we use that word, yet we take her for granted just to manipulate person we claim to love. That's what he does to you. Don't come to me crying when he leaves you before the wedding.
She wanted to laugh. Kaeri mistaken - he didn't left her before the wedding, but on the ceremony. Should she laugh? Should she cry? How stupid and pathetic she looked like right now, watching him leaving with her now former best friend. Where her pride go?
Her pride gone the moment she broke vow given to herself. She won't cry for a man. Chanyeol did one good thing. He taught her not to trust anyone ever again. It would be hard to give her heart again without fearing she'd get hurt.
A/N: The prologue is short because it should offer as a small introduction as how everything started. It doesn't necessarily have to be long. Please let me know what you think ;)
