Donghae just got done with with his knee surgery and of course, Hyukjae is there to take care of him

just a little fluff piece and i hope Donghae’s surgery and recovery goes well 🥺 

“come on slowly, take your time,” Hyukjae said as he and his manager helped Donghae up the van. 

Donghae carefully stepped up the vehicle and manoeuvred himself in the backseat, ensuring not to strain his knee. 

“ow,” he grimaced as he accidentally put a little too much weight on his right leg. 

“you okay, Hae??” Hyukjae immediately tightened his grip on Donghae’s arm.

“i’m fine, i’m fine. just stepped a little too hard on my right foot.”

after ensuring Donghae was buckled in safely, Hyukjae headed to the other side of the door, getting into the backseat next to Donghae while their manager started up the van, heading to the younger’s apartment. 

Hyukjae slid himself close to Donghae, he stole a glance at him and saw how Donghae was leaning his head on the window, eyes blinking heavily, as if he was going to doze off anytime now. 

“come here,” Hyukjae whispered as he moved his arm over Donghae’s shoulders and gently pushed it towards himself, so that Donghae would rest his head on Hyukjae’s shoulders. “take a nap, the painkillers must be making you drowsy.”

Donghae hummed and closed his eyes while his hands came up to cling onto Hyukjae’s arm. soon after, he was fast asleep. 

Hyukjae looked down and smiled at how childlike his boyfriend always looked whenever he was asleep. Donghae was just discharged from the hospital after his knee surgery was completed and of course, Hyukjae and their manager was there to bring him home. thankfully, everything went well and the doctors expect a full recovery, as long as Donghae takes it easy for a few months and completes his physical therapy. 

he had only stayed a night at the hospital, considering it was a minimally-invasive procedure, and was given the all-clear to leave the next afternoon. 

the doctors had prescribed a course of painkillers and anti-inflammatory pills which would make him pretty drowsy. he would also be required to move around using crutches for a number of weeks but other than that, he was certainly on the road to recovery.

upon reaching the apartment building, their manager pulled out the wheelchair and Hyukjae shook Donghae awake before helping him get on the chair. it wasn’t really necessary but they just wanted to keep donghae off standing for too long since he still wasn’t used to the crutches and the grogginess from the medication wasn’t helping eit
