Chapter 3
The Bunker Boyz
BANG! BANG! Gazing proudly at the multiple holes on the bullseye of the target, Kevin was satisfied with his shots. "See that, Juyeon? That's why I'm the guns," he boasted while pointing his head in the direction of the target.
Juyeon, even while being younger than Kevin, couldn't agree with him, "Kevin-hyung, that's nice, but a true expert knows that the only way to really stun a zombie is with an explosive charge. The demolition expert's gaze stayed trained on his deadly creation he had been making skilfully by hand. With loving affection, he lightly patted a bomb he had recently finished before moving on to make another one.
"Hey, respect your elders…" Kevin couldn't deny the powerful effects of Juyeon's explosives against zombies. However, there was no turning Kevin away from his two weapons which he referred to as his babies. Juyeon just laughed while shaking his head.
“Okay, guys. We’ll need to go back out in a few days to scavenge and look for survivors,” Hyunjae said while walking into the weapons room. “Finally!” Kevin shouted in excitement. Juyeon covered his ear as Kevin was standing right next to him. Kevin continued, “We’ve been cooped up in here for so long. I could use some fresh air.” Hyunjae nodded with understanding.
“Oh, how about watching a movie to celebrate?” Kevin suggested. The other two readily agreed, and Juyeon volunteered to cook ramen which was one of the few foods they had left besides the emergency supply. “What about a horror movie?” Kevin threw out. Juyeon glared at him, “No. Way.” Kevin shrugged, “Okay, action then?” Hyunjae and Juyeon nodded. However, while Juyeon was making the ramen, Kevin decided to pick on him and put a ghost movie into the DVD player.
Hyunjae and Kevin were already watching the first part of the movie when Juyeon arrived with a pot of ramen. He almost dropped it when he saw what they were watching, “Kevin-hyung… You said it would be an action movie…” “Oh, did I?” Kevin smirked, “I must have forgotten. Sorry. We’re already watching it though, so we’ll have to finish it.”
Juyeon reluctantly sat down on the couch between Kevin and Hyunjae. He felt safer to have people next to him when watching something scary. Little did he know that they would keep scaring him throughout the movie with “BOO!” and “AHH!”
By the time the movie was over, Juyeon was diminished to holding his heart and almost crying. “I- I don’t think I’ll be able to go outside now,” he stammered. Kevin patted him on the back, “It’s okay. We’re just dealing with zombies- not vengeful ghosts.” “Is that supposed to make me feel better?” Juyeon asked shakily.
“Hey, you went too far, Kevin,” Hyunjae said even though he had also been in on the teasing. “Okay. I’m sorry, Juyeonnie. We’ll be fine when we go outside,” Kevin tried to console. Juyeon just shook his head in shock as he shuffled off to his room.
After he had left, Kevin and Hyunjae looked at each other. Then, they started snorting to hide their laughter because a scared Juyeon was too funny for them. “I shouldn’t be laughing. I feel bad now,” Kevin admitted. Hyunjae agreed, “I know, right? We’ll have to do something nice for him now. You make him breakfast tomorrow.” “Wha- Why me?” Kevin retorted. “Because I’m the leader, and I said so,” Hyunjae said before leaving for bed as well.
...Author Notes...
If you can't tell, I made Kevin and Juyeon rivals as it seemed natural in their setting. I'm not sure if these two specifically are like this in real life, but The Boyz usually are very competitive with each other.
Also, Juyeon being scared of horror movies is a real thing. It's funny to witness as I love horror movies, but I can understand how it would be upsetting for someone who gets extremely scared.
