october 31st, 2021. a meaningful and jovial day for yeong-ung university. the whole school building looking awfully different from how it is meant to, now being decorated to look like the abbey from the gothic horror film, the nun.

plastic skeletons littered all over the once spotless garden of the information technology block. students dressed in all kinds of costumes buzzed within their own group of friends, supporting a huge smile on their lips.

among them was none other than perfectionist, choi byeol. her usual long sleeved sweater, sweatpands and sneakers now replaced with a tight fitted black corset dress that surprisingly hugged her 'non-existent' hourglass figure along with black thigh high boots. her face caked with gothic makeup, with her red lipstick purposely smudged at the corner of her lips. her long black and blonde hair set in curls and hidden behind a black veil.

byeol couldn't help but to grimace slightly as she once again rubbed her dry eyes that was covered with her red circle lens. she surely wasn't used to being all dressed up and would rather be in her sanctuary, studying.

"cheer up baby," a voice giggled beside her.

choi san. yeong-ung's prized dancer for he was well known for his extraordinary expressions and unfortunately, byeol's twin brother whom she wished died in the womb but yet was her emotional support pillar.

"shut up. i'm still pissed at you," byeol grumbled as she shot her twin a menacing glare.

rolling his eyes, san easily wrapped an arm around his sister's shoulder. the boy won't admit it but he sometimes loved it when he annoys the smaller girl since she looked awfully cute. a major contrast to her usual cold self that others often see.

"but what did i do?" the purple haired boy spoke with innocence. "you told me to get you a costume and i did."

"yeah but i didn't mean such a revealing one! you can literally see my cleavage!"

"hey! be grateful that i even bought this costume and that i didn't make you dress as a trash bag!" the male countered.

bickers and banters. a totally normal interaction between the choi twins but somehow, the two stuck to one another like glue as they grew older. both finding comfort in each other's arms after that fateful day.

"i would rather dress as a trash bag than a ty vampire."

san managed a pout as he stared at byeol with disbelief. "if you hadn't noticed, we're matching right now so you're calling me a too."

that's right. san had picked out matching costumes, albeit his victorian blouse was coloured white instead. a faux lip ring was also found on the bottom of his lip, something he had wanted to get for so long but was afraid to pierce it.

"well, i didn't ask you to match with me," byeol too pouted, earning a short coo from her twin. "though, i can't blame you."

byeol knew very well as to why her brother wanted to match with her. it was her first ever halloween ever since the incident and for the past few years, the girl chose to lock herself in her room every halloween.

this was a major change and san only seized the opportunity so who was byeol to blame?

the mood seemingly changed as the choi twins finally exchanged laughter. the two walked with arms linked around the school, ocassionally cringing at the jumpscares their schoolmates attempted on them.

obviously, san almost died from a few of them. the boy had a soft heart and it was clear to everyone that byeol was the braver twin. she could careless about the cheap scares and only carried on with her walk that consisted of her brother clinging onto her like his life depended on it.

nonetheless, byeol's smile faltered at the sight of a pink haired man not far from her. he wore a costume similar to that of san except he only had one long sleeve and a black glove on the other.

byeol couldn't help but to gawk at how effortlessly attractive he looked but the female knew what lied behind the charming smile he displayed.

a heartless man who ripped her heart out and shattered it into a million pieces. that was who park seonghwa was in the eyes of byeol.

the female quickly unlinked her arm from san, emitting a confused hum from the lad.

"you brought me here on purpose didn't you?" byeol murmured as she eyed her twin suspiciously.

creasing his eyebrows together, san shook his head. "of course not, this is the design department. i thought we were gonna meet up with your friends?"

byeol cursed under her breath and quickly turned her back on the glowing male who stood not far. her heart was beating erratically and the female hated how much seonghwa affected her.

"well, your close friend is here."

"woo is here? where?"

"no you daft idiot, it's seonghwa!"

at her words, san narrowed his eyes on his twin sister. the boy was truly done with everything that had happened between the two individuals and he was growing tired at how unwilling and desperate each were.

he knew the whole story from both sides and while he does side with his sister more, san knew the true reason as to why seonghwa did what he did all those years ago.

at this point, san honestly just wished that they reconcile so that he wouldn't have to be the middle man anymore.

"seriously byeol?" san exclaimed with irritation, "why can't you just give him a chance to explain his side of your tragic love story?"

byeol proceeded to glare at the purple haired. "you know it's easier said than done. you won't understand because you never had a high school sweetheart who leaves you when you needed them most, then comes back and pretends like nothing ever happened."

"yeah i won't understand-" san tried to reason with his twin but knowing her stubborn nature, byeol intervened.

"so don't tell me what to do with seonghwa because i'm done being the lovesick fifteen year old puppy with heart eyes whenever she's around her lover!"

at this point, seonghwa could hear the heated conversation byeol and san were having. howbeit, the pink haired could only watch with saddened eyes that held contact with his ex-lover for a brief moment when she finally turned to face him.

although, byeol was quick to avert her gaze elsewhere before stomping away since she no longer have the strength to listen to her twin's rants and lies.

almost instantly, byeol spotted her gahyeon, who was dressed as a witch, managing her own department's booth. standing closeby were dayoung and yeonjun who were dressed as the queen of hearts and a hogwarts student respectively.

relief washed over the black haired and she quickly rushed to where they were. byeol wanted nothing but to forget about park seonghwa and the conversation she had with her twin brother.

it was choi byeol's life mission to get over park seonghwa. no one was gonna change her mind about that. not even her heart which still yearned to be held by the same exact boy who broke it.

author's note hey y'all, ari here! this is a quick intro to byeol and since it's halloween period, i decided to make it halloween themed! hopefully this teaser helped you better understand byeol and her relationship with her twin and seonghwa. more is to come once the story officially starts so stay tuned~
