I still care for you

Their next meeting signalled their unfortunately, last meeting. Melody's healing quick and is flea-less. All in all the once poor puppy is a step closer to full recovery. Minjeong's happy, of course. Her white maltese has been a great stress reliever for her and provides great company at her lonely apartment.

But the fact that she's meeting Jimin again after their dinner last week makes her feel anxious. The dinner ended with Minjeong lost in her thoughts and with Jimin not saying a word after. She drops her off near the vet, bid each other goodnight and that's it. Minjeong even thought of texting her, but that's just weird when there's nothing to talk about. Not when they talked about whatever's going on between them before.

Minjeong gathers herself before entering Jimin's office, combing through her bob cut hair. Melody happily wags her tail as Jimin greets them. She kept a profesional smile, bowing at Minjeong as if the dinner never happened. Checking up on Melody, moving gracefully and skillfully that Minjeong couldn't help but stare.

Jimin's been telling her things, do's and don'ts but her mind's out the window, appreciating the mole under the corner of her lips. The way her hair's tightly tied in to a high ponytail- or was it Jimin's intense gaze?- made Minjeong squirm on her seat uncomfortably. She couldn't quite put a finger on it, but Jimin looks extra attractive today. Or was it because Minjeong's been bothered by her thoughts recently? She wishes she could look away, but she just keeps getting pulled in Jimin, somehow magnitised.

"She's in the best condition now. It's safe to say Melody's free and healthy." Jimin finally ends her essay, turning to face Melody on the examination table and scooping her in her arms. The obviously ecstatic puppy Jimin's face as if thanking her. .

She coos and pats the furball a few times and hands her over to her lost owner. Minjeong flinches as Jimin's hand brushes over her arm, shivering despite the summer heat. Jimin saw her reaction, and couldn't help the sad smile slip on her face.

"Thank you, uh, Jimin." Minjeong managed to form coherent words. The older merely bows in response, gathering her things but doesn't move from her spot.

Minjeong finds herself getting lost once more, admiring how Jimin fits her semi-formal fit. A rather baggy, silky, maroon button-up tucked in neatly in her slacks. It's unusual for Jimin, as the woman keeps a soft spot for flowery dresses and straw hats. Although Minjeong isn't one to complain and relishes the sight. Though the loose tie hanging from her neck irks her to no end.

Settling Melody down, she took large steps towards the unsuspecting Jimin. She pushes her right shoulder gently, just enough for Jimin to face Minjeong. She gasps, startled and was about to question when Minjeong shoots her a glare.

Jimin shuts up unwillingly, but decides to watch as Minjeong holds the end of her tie, tightening it just right under the woman's collar. The close proximity made Jimin's breath hitch, feeling the younger's breath hitting her chin. She looks down a bit on Minjeong, the younger's hand still resting on her chest, as if taking in the pace of the rapid beating of her heart. No wonder Jimin's breathless.

Her eyes landed on Minjeong's pink lips, noticing how soft and inviting it is up close. Jimin groans inwardly, cursing herself for enjoying the view named Kim Minjeong.

However, when Minjeong finally looks up at her, Jimin fully malfunctioned.

Goddamn, Minjeong doesn't age at all. She's just as heavenly as ever.

She doesn't know what got in to her, but she pulls Minjeong in closer by her arms. She caged her in her own arms, embracing Minjeong like she has never done in her entire life. Jimin doesn't miss the gasp that leaves Minjeong's pretty lips. And she doesn't really care about the tight grip on her collar.

"W-what are you doing? Let me go." Minjeong wiggles for a bit, but her petite body compared to Jimin's? She doesn't stand a chance. Jimin encircles her arms on Minjeong's waist this time, pulling her impossibly closer.

However, she stops struggling as Jimin places her chin on the crown of Minjeong's head. Somehow, the warmth of Jimin's body made her relax, her balled fists now clutching on Jimin's shirt, as if seeking more body heat despite the fact that it's around 40°C outside.

"Let's just.." She feels the vibration on Jimin's throat on her forehead, her voice soft and calming. "..stay like this for awhile."

Minjeong doesn't protest. She hates how she just loves being in Jimin's arms. She hates how she just threw the fact that they haven't talked in five years out of the window. She hates how easy she is to get. She hates how Jimin could easily wrap Minjeong around her fingers. She hates how Jimin still had that effect on her.

She hates how she's being brought back to her college self, basking in the warmth of Jimin whenever they snuggle after a tiring night of cramming.

But she doesn't deny that she probably still has lingering feelings for the woman.

She lets out a content sigh, letting herself enjoy what's between them. Minjeong deliberately slid her slender arms between Jimin's, looping around her waist as she leans her head against Jimin's chest. The older isn't that much taller, probably a few inches taller than Minjeong but it was enough for Minjeong to fit in and listen to her beating chest. The tranquilty from the gentle sound of her heart lulls Minjeong, like a lullaby.

It doesn't help when Jimin starts running her fingers through her bob hair, occassionally twirling the tips of her hair.

It was beyond comfortable and Minjeong would kill to stay in her arms.

Minjeong doesn't know when Jimin had moved to sit on the couch, but she does realizes that she's now straddling her lap, head still resting on Jimin's chest. She reluctantly raises her head to see Jimin. The latter gives her a small smile, sending Minjeong into a frenzy. "It's okay, let's just enjoy the moment."

And she does. She lets herself indulge once more on the homeliness Jimin possessed. Taking in the waft of what she assumed was men's perfume. It suits her, and Minjeong isn't fond of the strong scent. But somehow it was oddly addicting.

"You're very comfortable." Minjeong mumbles almost incoherently as it was covered by Jimin's clothed chest. She chuckles, now moving her hand to rub circles on Minjeong's back.

"I could tell. You wouldn't be snuggling on my sweaty shirt if I weren't."

Minjeong snorts. The air conditioner must be doing its job well since Minjeong definitely doesn't smell any sweat or pungent scent from Jimin besides the perfume. "Liar."

"Me? A Liar? Which part?"

"You're not sweaty, you don't smell weird." She reasons, now shifting to flatten her cheek on Jimin's shoulder to look at her side profile. "I like the perfume, by the way."

Jimin raises a brow, "I thought you preferred shampoo gel and body lotions? What was that again? Ah, Victoria's Secret! You had tons of those before."

Minjeong hums, "Well that didn't change. I still like them. What I'm trying to say is that I like the perfume on you.

She doesn't miss the way pink dusted Jimin's unblemished cheek. "Thanks. That's one of my favorites actually, 'Forment cotton hug,' Simply one of the best if you ask me."

"Whatever it is, keep wearing it." Minjeong lets out a yawn, feeling drowsy all of a sudden. She rushed here afterall as she may have worked a bit overtime due to the owner of the flower shop arriving late. And it was a bit of a busy day, since it's a Saturday and people just absolutely love going on dates on a weekend.

Jimin must've sensed her fatigue, eyes wandering the clinic and she spots Melody sleeping beside Jimin's purse on the carpeted floor. Melody somehow looking similar to her owner curled up on Jimin's body. She smiles at the thought.

"Get some sleep." Jimin says, her voice barely above a whisper. The younger doesn't say anything, but snuggles her head deeper into Jimin's. "What if someone comes in..?"

Her voice was small and a bit hoarse, probably due to the drowsiness taking over her system. "It's okay. It's just an hour before closing time anyway, customers rarely visit at that time. And besides, it's not like we're doing anything wrong."

"I'd rather be caught drinking again by mom than to be seen by a stranger in my pet's doctor's lap."

This time, Jimin lets out a loud laugh, almost startling Minjeong. "Isn't that nice though?"

"Whatever makes you sleep at night, Jimin."

"Just knowing you're safe and healthy makes me sleep at night, Min." Jimin says, patting Minjeong's back lightly.

Minjeong lets out a content sigh. "This, this is what I missed when you left.." She murmurs, "..and I'm happy that I finally got to experience it again."

She may not see it, but Jimin couldn't help the big smile cracking on her face. "Aren't you a bit too straightforward?"

"I am nowhere near straight, Jimin."

The said girl laughs again, and maybe, just maybe, Minjeong thinks she's the only one who can make her laugh like this.

"Have you been in any relationships when I was gone?"

Minjeong flutters her eyes openㅡ  when had she shut them, she doesn't knowㅡ looking straight in Jimin's eyes. Jimin stares back, eyes curious but holds fondness that Minjeong couldn't explain quite well.

"Yizhou sets me up on dates. But I never show up." The younger says, "I think it's just a waste of time."

Jimin gives her a small smile. "I'm glad to hear that."

"What I'm not glad to hear is that you've been keeping in touch with Aeri without us knowing." There was obvious frustration on Minjeong's tone and it made Jimin flinch. Probably because her greatest secret had been found out.

"Aeri told you?"

"Don't blame Aeri, she's been hiding it from us for years! You and I both know that she has troubles keeping shut."

"I'm not mad nor am I blaming Aeri. I was planning to tell you sooner, in all honesty." Jimin mutters, playing with her lips out of habit. "I'm actually surprised Aeri kept the secret."

"You're confusing me." Minjeong lets out an exasperated sigh, "You ask me how I've been doing, if I've been seeing other people and whatnots when you had Aeri to tell you every details."

Jimin pursed her lips, "I- I may have asked her not to talk about you.."

Minjeong untangles herself from Jimin. Both are obviously annoyed at the loss of warmth but Minjeong could care less.

"What?"

"I was focusing on studying and work that I purposely asked Aeri to never mention you unless I asked her to." She spoke in earnest, "It's not that you'll be a distraction, I just want to know how you were in persoㅡ "

"What if I was actually married by the time you came back?" Minjeong cuts her off, "You had nothing to come back to if that were the case."

Jimin kept smiling, but Minjeong sees the flicker of sadness on her face. "I'd still want to see my favorite person, and her new favorite person as well.

Even if I were replaced by someone new, I just want to let you know that no one could ever replace you.

And no matter where fate may lead us, I'll always find my way back to you."

Minjeong finally looks away, but Jimin reaches to cup her cheek. "I've been hating myself the moment I broke whatever we had before. And I swore back then that I'd never forgive myself if I remained a coward. That's why I came back. I want to prove something to myself, to my family, and to you."

"And I just feel so ing lucky that somehow, you never pushed me away."

She inhales as much air as she can, because Minjeong suddenly feels her own lungs collapse. "I-i just couldn't bring myself to hate you, Jimin."

"And I'm grateful for that."

Minjeong knew to herself that she has been waiting for Jimin all these years and she had never moved on. She never wanted to move on. And she'll never bring herself to admit that. Not even to Jimin.

Jimin cradles her back in her arms and this time, Minjeong slips to dreamland a few minutes a long the way.

Jimin laid her down on the couch despite the pain on her thighs and the numbness on her arms. She takes in the lithe figure of Minjeong sleeping peacefully on her office couch.

"Well, I guess I'll close up early today." She takes a quick glance on her watch before calling Yuri. "You can go home early today."

The redhead looks surprised, "This early?"

"Mhm, this is finally your chance to fetch your girlfriend first." Jimin teases and Yuri's cheeks mirrored her scarlet hair.

Yuri leaves soon, definitely not aware of the sleeping Minjeong inside Jimin's office.

Jimin sat back on her swivel chair by her office, admiring Minjeong.

I'm back to you, I'm back home.

I'm glad to be home.

Minjeong wakes up an hour later, apologizing and went on about how embarrassing it was that she fell asleep in the middle of their conversation. But Jimin laughs it off and that it was completely fine. Minjeong blames it on the coldness of Jimin's office.

"It's past the opening hours! You could've woken me up earlier!"

"Like I said, it's fine. Look, make it up to me by letting me walk you to your apartment, sounds great?" Jimin pats herself on the back for the 'smooth' talk.

Minjeong debates within herself.

Should I? Or should I not?

Melody her face and she just know she couldn't turn down the offer.

The walk to Minjeong's apartment isn't far, but it was, for Minjeong, a bit too silent for her liking. Jimin's walking too slow with her hands tucked in her jean's pockets. Minjeong walks slightly ahead of her, Melody tightly held in her arms.

It's awkward

but Jimin's enjoying it.

They stop a couple of minutes later, just in front of a common-looking but decent apartment. Jimin finally looks at her, smiling.

Minjeong clears , "Well, uh, this is me. Uhm, I mean, my stop."

Jimin nods, ushering her to go inside as it was getting late. "Goodnight Minjeong. Today's not our last meeting, remember that. We'll always find each other."

Minjeong may or may not have went to work the following day looking like a zombie from the lack of sleep the night prior.

And she definitely blames it on Yu Jimin.
