Bloom Into You; Eventually, I Will Become Yours

(Kkubi adaptation)

 

A/N: The original characters in this story had been adapted to fit Iz*One members and other characters. For example, in Bloom Into You (the original), Yuu (in this fic = Sakura) is shorter than Nanami-senpai (in this fic = Eunbi) but in this adapted fic I made it suits the real Sakura and Eunbi. So ‘Yuu’ aka Sakura is taller than ‘Nanami’ aka Eunbi. 

 

Disclaimer: There will also be some minor alterations. The story will use Japanese settings to be closely exact with the manga/anime. So please be closely reminded of Senpai, san and kun usage.

 

Also, this manga/anime/adaptation have lots of monologues. It will be marked with ‘ ’ and italicised. The chapters will be released according to the anime's episodes. Not the manga’s volumes.

 

 

  Episode 2: Heating Up/ Application For First Love

 

Hyewon and Yena were standing near the window arguing about Hyewon’s little accident with the ribbon. The poor girl refused to wear them yesterday and almost got herself a fine..   “You just got into trouble for that yesterday, why don't you wear it?” Yena asked, full of dissatisfaction. “Ribbons are too cute for me”, Hyewon answered. Yena was weirded out and asked again, “What’s wrong with cute?” “It’s just not my style”, Hyewon shrugged. “But you like stuffed animals. And that charm”, Yena pointed to the keychain dangling on Hyewon’s phone. 

“This one is fine. It’s not cute after all”, Hyewon showed her Pokemon looking charm and defended its pride.

Yena just scoffed and repeated, “It’s not cute after all…. Hee…..”

“And her?” Yena puckered towards Sakura, who had her arms sprawled on the table with her head facing it.

“Same as ever.. Poor kid”, Hyewon shakes her head, concerned of her dear friend.

“Poor me”, Sakura groaned.

Yena and Hyewon went closer to her table, “What does a campaign manager do by the way?”, the sporty kid asked.

“Um…” Sakura’s brain working hard, “Help them hand out flyers, make posters, that sort of thing.

“Sounds like a lot of work, but let's just think of it as more helping out”, Hyewon tried to console her, patting her head softly.

“Yeah, that part is fine, but I have to give a campaign speech in front of the whole school”

“Wow, that sounds tough”, Hyewon can’t deny it indeed does sound overwhelming.

Yena was a bit worried about her best friend, “You get stage fright”

Sakura whined and slammed her head softly onto the table.

“You should just turn her down”, Hyewon suggested.

“I did! I said it was too much responsibility and I couldn’t handle it”, “but Kwon senpai won’t accept my refusal”

“She likes you a lot,” Hyewon noted.

“I wonder why”, Sakura chimed.

“Beats me”, Hyewon and Yena unanimously said.

‘But Kwon senpai already got Kim senpai, doesn’t she?’

 

Kwon Eunbi and Kim Jiyeon (Kei).

The two have been such close knitted rivals and friends in almost everything. Kind of like Captain America and Iron Man, if we were to dive in MCU. If Eunbi got first place, second would surely be Kei.

According to what she heard, they have held the top two positions ever since they started high school. Anyone can see their name being on top of the list in the board. They really stand out when they walk together too. If Eunbi  wants to win the election, Kei would be a much better choice than herself, Sakura thought whilst still staring at the board.

 

Her mind suddenly flashes back to when Eunbi confessed to her, the words ‘I think I might be falling for you’ keeps echoing, occupying the biggest space in her brain.

She shakes her head vigorously, as if she can shake away all the thoughts and memories.

PE class, school gym...

 

Sounds of soles clashing on the floor echoes. A heated volleyball battle taking place in the gymnasium.

Our heroine, Eunbi is crushing the opponent with her deadly skills. 

Ball in, 1 point.

Cheers of amazement bouncing, “Whoaaa”

“Nice pass!” Eunbi high fived her teammate.

“Eunbi, that was great!”

“Amazing!”

Eunbi was later surrounded by her teammates. All expressing their amazement.

“Hehehe. Thanks”, Eunbi rubbed her head in shyness.

Kei sat at the corner, watching the scene unroll. Eunbi made eye contact with her and the girl looked away. Scent of jealousy in the air.

 

Eunbi excused herself, “Sorry, I gotta go”, Eunbi walked towards her best friend.

“Kei..” Eunbi reached out.

“You're in top shape today it seems”, Kei remarked, with a hint of sour mood laced.

“I apologized already, would you fix your mood?” Eunbi pulled her hair tie and smiled.

“You don't need to apologize. It's just that I assumed I'd be your campaign manager, that's all”, Kei pouted and looked away.

“I'm sorry for not discussing this with you first. I really am!” Eunbi clashed her hands asking for an apology and this made Kei turn towards her.

“But I still want Sakura-san to do it”, Eunbi claimed.

“Why?” Kei looked hurt.

“Why? Well…” Eunbi trailed.

“She's got good skills, and I think she could manage your campaign well”, Kei threw the words that are so heavy to come out of .

“But I just don't get it”, seriously, not in anyone's mind that Eunbi would be accompanied by a new girl and none other than Kei.

The whole school knows how deadly the combination is.

“Are you really taking this election seriously? People keep saying you're going to win, so you stopped trying. Is that it?” Kei provoked her best friend.

“Of course not!”

 

A ball rolled to Eunbi's feet, “Eunbi, could you get that?” 

The said girl nodded and picked up the ball.

“I think there's a good reason to have a first year as campaign manager. Don't you think May is too early for an election? The first year still knows nothing about the second year candidates…” 

“You're right”, Kei slowly nodded.

“They probably feel like the election has nothing to do with them. If a first year participates, they'll get more interested. I want a campaign speech that doesn't just say how great I am. I want her to honestly criticize me”, Eunbi got up to throw the ball into the court.

 

“That way it'll seem like I'm ready to listen to everyone's opinions, right? I don't think it's such a bad idea.” Eunbi smiled and went to join the ongoing match, leaving Kei to ponder alone.

“What will you do if you're elected?” Kei asked, rising up to help Eunbi tie her hair back.

“I haven't decided but I think I'd like to ask her to be on the council. So I want to build a relationship of trust”, she answered.

“Oh” Kei was stupefied. And lashed out “So you want to build that relationship with her, not me”, something tugged in her heart.

“Huh?” Eunbi was left puzzled at the statement. What does Kei mean by it?.

 

The chemistry of these two however stays unwavered as they both help each other during their match.

Eunbi and Kei knew what to do and they went into their zig zag strategy, their teammate dug the ball up towards Kei and Eunbi called her out “Kei!” 

The girl automatically knows what to do as she sets the ball, calling out “Eunbi!”

To which Eunbi spiked it effortlessly fine straight into the court. Scoring another point for their team.

“We did it!”

“You and Eunbi are amazing! Perfectly in sync!” One of their teammates tapped on Kei’s shoulder and she stood there gaping, eyes wandering on the magnificent look on Eunbi's happy face.

Eunbi came to her soon and smiled, “Don't we already have that kind of relationship? It's not really necessary though”, she raised her hands asking for double high five.

Kei could just sighed with a smile, “You're a sneaky one. I'll give it to you this time”

They shared high tens and Eunbi said her gratitude.

However, before she walked away, Kei slid in a warning.

“But if you lose the election, I will be mad at you”, Kei warned softly.

A smile crept on Eunbi's face and she let out a small chuckle, “Don't worry. I'll definitely become the president. See you, Vice President!”

The two shared sneaky smiles.

 

Lunch break arrived and Sakura kept daydreaming again.

She sat there looking at Hyewon and Yena with empty eyes until Hyewon puckered her lips pointing to someone standing at the door. The person waved her hand and sported a friendly smile.

 

“Here, this is for you, Kei gave a piece of folded paper to Sakura. With Eunbi standing not far behind, leaning on the big pillar.

“What's this?” Sakura was curious.

“It's a rough draft for the one I was going to read. You might won't need it but maybe you can use parts of it or make it as your reference.”

Sakura was touched listening to it and exclaimed “I don't know if I can do it justice. I'm sure you would be much better.”

“That might be true. But you have your own unique skills”, Kei tilted her head a bit towards Eunbi and continued “At least Eunbi seems to feel that way.”

“But…” her head slouched low.

Kei invaded her space as the elder stood close to her, “Please take care of her for me”, Kei begged.

Sakura eyed Eunbi who stood far behind and she sensed something about Kei.

The youngest of the three took a deep breath before saying, “If you insist. I'll do it. I'll give it my best shot.”

Kei was plastered with her signature eye smile with Eunbi mirroring an almost similar smile.

 

“Now I've got my fighting partner for the election”, Eunbi stared at her admission form and turned her gaze towards Sakura, walking on her side.

“I guess”, Sakura shrugged.

Trying not to pressure the younger and also encouraging her, Eunbi let out a wishful words, “I'm counting o
