2006 The trainees of SM Entertainment were getting ready for their weekly evaluations.  A young Stephanie, soon to be known as Tiffany, stood outside of the practice room with a couple other girls who were going to potentially be in the new girl group with her. She and the other girls watched as the new trainees meekly walked past them with their heads down in fear of their evaluations. Stephanie was a bit relieved she didn't have to go through that anymore, at least not in a room full of trainees, just the girls who were fighting for a spot in the soon to be debuted girl group. She was already informed her and four other girls had a definite spot. Hyoyeon, Yuri, Jessica, herself and another girl named Taeyeon. Stephanie had seen Taeyeon in passing over the years, but unfortunately the two have never uttered a word to eachother because they haven't been in a room together long enough. Stephanie couldn't even catch a glimpse of the girl's face, the only thing she could recognise was her voice.  Stephanie wasn't one to look down on others, but looking at the girls behind her, she knew they didn't stand a chance. Some of these girls just didn't have what it takes. She sees Jessica approaching and waves her over.  Jessica lets out a sigh of relief, finally finding someone she knew, "I hate days like these. I can't find anyone. Thank God we don't have to go through that anymore. It was so embarrasing." She looks behind her and Stephanie and sees the new batch of potential members, scoffs and turns back. "So these are the new maybes huh?" She barely whispers, wanting them to hear her, making Stephanie giggle.  "Jessi," Stephanie hits her arm. "These could be one of our future members, be nice." Jessica rolls her eyes, "I'm going easy on em. Wait until Hyoyeon and Yuri get a hold of them." She pushes Tiffany into the practice room not bothering to let the new girls know they have to be in there and ready before their trainer comes.  When they enter they see a girl sitting in the corner of the room leaning against the wall with earphones in and eyes closed. Jessica lets go of Stephanie and rushes over to the girl, leaving Stephanie confused.   "Taengoo!" Jessica shouts, startling the girl. "Get up, before Saem comes. I know you've never trained in a room with us, so I don't want you to get scolded." The girl shakes her head and reluctantly stands up.  "And get those things out of your ears. She picks on every little thing." Jessica turns back to Stephanie. "Steph, tell the newbies to come inside before Ssaem blows her top." Stephanie rolls her eyes and goes to call the newer girls, but coming inside Hyoyeon and Yuri are giggling.  "What are you two clowns laughing about now?" Jessica folds her arms.  Yuri retorts, "Those girls out there. We told them to take their shoes and socks off before they come in here or else Ssaem is gonna be furious. And they believed us!" "Yeah," Hyoyeon laughs. "They're outside now taking them off. Ssaem is gonna be so pissed." Jessica sighs, "Ssaem is gonna be pissed at you two idiots for making them do that!" She huffs and makes her way to the door. "When are you two gonna grow up, gosh!" She slams the door behind her. "Who pissed in her cereal this morning?" Hyoyeon jokes, earning a slap on the arm from Stephanie. "Ow! Fany, I was kidding." She whines rubbing her now stinging arm. Stephanie purses her lips, "For once, could you not piss Jessi off? Those new girls are gonna come in here and expect us to be a team that not only gets along but is miles ahead of them and you and Jessi arguing is gonna show them the exact opposite and they're gonna take us for a joke!" She screams at the blonde, who is looking remorseful. She turns her head to where Yuri is warming up trying to hold in her laughter. She turns back to Hyoyeon. "Just today, Hyoyeon-ah. Just today." She huffs and walks to a corner and sees that quiet girl, still with her headphones in, has found her way seated on the floor once again. Stephanie slightly moves her head in the direction of the girl to get a glimpse of her profile. The girl had chubby cheeks and little to no eyebrows, but smooth, milky skin. She had to admit the girl was pretty. Stephanie nudged her, gaining her attention, "You know, Jessi's right. Ssaem is gonna be angry if she sees you sitting down doing nothing, not even warming up and with headphones in. She'll take it out on everybody, even the newbies." The girl opens to say something but decides against it and nods her head. She removes her headphones and stands, beginning to stretch. "I've heard a lot about you," Stephanie starts. "I'm Stephanie. Although everyone around here calls me Fany." The girl stops stretching and faces Stephanie, "Taeyeon." She smiles slightly. "Where are you from?" Stephanie smiles, happy that the girl is making conversation. "I'm from America. I was born in San Francisco, but I lived in Los Angelos until I moved here." Taeyeon nods, "Oh, I'm from Jeonju." She starts to stretch again. "How old are you?" "I'm 16, I think we're the same age so you don't have to be so formal with me." Stephanie reassures Taeyeon who lightly smiles back at her. Stephanie begins to stretch alongside Taeyeon, "I think we'll be great friends, Taeyeon." Taeyeon looks at Stephanie for a few moments and draws her eyebrows together, in deep thought about something, "No, I don't think we'll be friends." With that she got up and moved to the other side of the room with Hyoyeon and Yuri. Stephanie was dumbfounded and was about to march over to her until the sound of the door opening stopped her in her tracks. Jessica, followed by their instructor, followed by the newbies.  "Alright kids, start stretching. My girls, stand here." Their instructor signals the five girls to line up near her. Once lined up, she addresses the new girls. "These five are my elite. They have a definite spot in this group. It is ten of you, and we only have space for four more.
