"Hold my hand"

That was the last thing she heard after her hand slipped on Seulgi's. She knew she held it, she knew.

But it seems like the water keeps pulling her downward and Seulgi just fled in that way like a bubble.

'Seulgi.. where are you'

She looks up, It was the Moon slowly passing the Sun as she started to hear some voices again and a flashing memories

"Code blue, fifth floor.."

"CPR in the pediatric ICU.."

"Fifth floor at the main building"

"Doctor Bae, please save my son" 

"I have to let him go.."

"Doctor Hyunnie.. When I can't fight anymore, please be happy for me. Otay? I'll hate you when you cry"

"Keep this, Doctor Hyunnie. Happy birthday!"

"Goodbye, buddy"

"Choi Seon-u, July 18, 10:38 am"

"He had 2 years of a happy life.. because of you"

The moon already covered the whole sun. Irene shut her eyes as she let her body sink down

"Doc, the anesthesia failed"

"Lee Seoyeon, July 19, 1:40 pm"

"Shin Eunhee, December 25, 01:22 am"

"You failed to save them!"

"You are not a real doctor! You killed my Father!"

"You let my brother die!"

"Who is Seulgi?"

"Is she dreaming? She's sweating hard"

"Shall we wake her up?"

"Right.. Hey, Eonnim"

"Joohyun Eonnim. Wake up"

'Huh? What is that?'

Her eyes flickered and a blurry vision of three ladies greets her

She blinks her eyes several times to clear her vision, and she gets to know who the ladies are. It's Moon Byul-yi, Park Sooyoung and Kim Yerim, her friends.

"Where am I? I am still alive?" She mumbled weakly as she tried to get up but she was forced to lay down again by the three ladies

"Joohyun Eonnim, stay still"

"You just woke up, Eonnim. I will get you water"

"How are you feeling now Joohyun Eonnim"

'These rascals. I told them not to call me-'

"Jooohyun Eonnim?"

Joohyun grunts and jolts up from the bed, "YAH! HOW MANY TIMES DO I HAVE TO TELL YOU GUYS NOT TO CALL-"

She stuck on her own track when she saw what's the three ladies wearing in front of her

Unintentionally, Joohyun snorted at them "Oh my god, what are you guys wearing? Were there any occasions that I wasn't aware of?" She rubbed her temple as she was still  a little dizzy

Silence.

They were just staring at her in confusion, her dialect is too different from what they used to

Joohyun furrowed her brows, "Why? What's wrong?" She glances at them

"Eonnim, you're acting strange" Yerim murmured

"No. You guys are acting weird" She shook her head in disbelief

"Joohyun Eonnim-"

"Shut your mouth, Joy" Joohyun shot a glare at her

The latter got more confused after how the older one called her

"J-joy? Yah, you just got saved from drowning on the lake and now you're acting strange" Byul-yi scoffed as she get up from the bed

"What did you say?" Joohyun kirk her brows

Sooyoung nodded her head, "A nobleman saved you. You were drunk after the occasion for welcoming Master Choi" 

Joohyun got more confused. All she can remember was she was drunk and talking with Kang Seulgi at Han River

'Noblemen? Do we still call them like that these days? Aigoo, these girls are playing tricks on me. Seulgi saved me'

She clicks her tongue, "Get out of my way, I have to go to the hospital"

Sooyoung looked at Yerim and Byul-yi, frowning "Hospital?"

Byul-i shrugged her shoulders, "She's acting weird. Maybe she had a dream about her next life" She joked and receive a snort from Sooyoung

Yerim then puckered her lips as she points Joohyun looking around the place with an unreadable expression plastered on her face

"Where the hell am I?" Joohyun mumbled "I'm alive, right?

She looked behind her, there was a mirror. She stares at herself; wearing the female white undergarments of Joseon

"What's wrong with me?!" She exclaimed and turned her gazes to her friends who were still confused by the scenario

"Where am I?" She asked once again to her friends "And why am I wearing like this?!"

"Uhm. Hanyang?"

A confusion was drawn into Joohyun face more, she dash out of the place and found herself in an unfamiliar place and with people

Everyone was wearing the traditional clothes of Korea and speaking in a different dialect but she did understand their words.  

Then there was a little boy walking toward her. A familiar little boy 

"S...seon-u?" She stammered

The little boy nodded his head, "It's good to see you awake now, Physician Bae. Thank you for saving my life 4 days ago!" He bubbled and ran away, giggling

"S.. Seon-u is d-dead" she mumbled to herself, "He is dead.. R-right?"

"What is this? I am really dead?"

She looked around, people are talking and laughing indistinctly

"So, this place is.."

"Eonnim, come here!" Byul-yi grabbed her arms

'The Afterlife?' 

And that's when she collapsed on Byul-yi

"Your food is here, Your Royal Highness" 

A man wearing blue naegeumwi takes a glance at the door of the Crown Prince's chamber

His name is Kim Heechul, the personal royal bodyguard of the Crown Prince of Joseon and a skilled swordsman as well.

The Crown Prince looked at him and simply nod as a gesture to let them in

Heechul bowed at him, "Come in"

The door opened and it was the Crown Prince's eunuchs and court ladies

"I want to eat alone.." The Crown Prince commanded the trainee eunuch to place the platters down at the Crown Prince's coffee table

"Eunuch Shin" He called his head eunuch who immediately bow his head for the Crown Prince

"Yes, Your Royal Highness"

"Stay here. The rest, you may now leave"

Heechul guided the eunuchs and court ladies under the Crown Prince to leave the chamber

The Crown Prince glance at Heechul to know if there's no one outside his chamber already

"They're now gone, Your Highness" Heechul answered

The Crown prince let out a relieved sigh and cleared his throat "It's really hard to deepen my voice" then he looks at his eunuch

"Orabeoni, take a sip and spoonful of each first" 

Eunuch Shin looked at him, a little surprised "P-pardon, Your Highness?"

"I just want to make sure the food has no poison. We have a new royal cook, right?" Crown Prince smirked

Heechul and Eunuch Shin glance at each other, confused by that sudden command of Crown Prince

"If there's a poison and you eat it first, the future King of Joseon will be safe" He turned his stare at Eunuch Shin, waggling his brows at him

Disbelief and betrayal can be seen on Eunuch Shin facial expressions but knowing the Crown Prince for 20 years, he just simply nodded his head, "Y-yes, Your Highness. His Royal Highness must live long" He muttered forcedly and take a taste of food one by one

The Crown Prince nodded his head in agreement, "Right. Prince Kang Seulgi must live long" 

20 years old Crown Prince of Joseon. A child of King Seonjo and a royal concubine

Known as Prince Gwanghae. Birth Name; Kang Seulgi

She was born a Princess but destined to be the next King of Joseon

The 13th King, Myeongjong of Joseon; her adoptive grandfather, declared that the future 15th King must be born in the month before the dry winter season ends

And that's when Seulgi was born.

"What did you say?!" King Dongwon jolted up from his royal bed

A Royal female physician lowered her head down deep for the sudden burst of the King

"S-she will g-give birth with a.. princess, Your Majesty"

The Concubine looked at her husband in fear, "Your Majesty.. Spare our child's life" she said as she caress her bloated tummy

King Dongwon looked at his beloved concubine, his eyes were flaming in anger but seeing the concubine's tears rolled down, softened him

"I.." He turned his gaze to the Chief state councilor "This might be a big treason.. b-but this is my child" he stammered

King Dongwon went to the Chief state councilor, and held him on his shoulder, "You're my friend, a great friend.. help me, Bae YoongJoon" 

Yoongjoon nodded his head. He can see in the King's eyes that he wanted to keep his own child

"Her Highness will give birth to the future King of Joseon, Your Majesty" Yoongjoon slowly shove off the King's grip on him and kneel down on him

"Your wife must assure that my child is in a good health and declare to everyone my child is a prince and the one who will heir the throne" King Dongwon glanced down at the Royal Physician

"I-i will, Your Majesty" Yoongoon's wife answered

King Dongwon called for his personal bodyguard and commanded, "Behead those who will try to expose everything. My unborn child will be the next King of Joseon. Not Haneul"

"Yes, Your Majesty"

Joohyun looked at her friends with frowns as they gave her some unfamiliar types of foods. She just woke up once again after she passed out

She was just eyeing her confused friends for about half an hour and neither one of them didn't utter some words.

Then a memory flashed of Joohyun sinking into the river and Seulgi failed to save her. That girl didn't save her, she was wrong.

Joohyun then let out a short chuckle as she realized, "Right, I'm dead. Bae Joohyun is dead"

"You didn't die. You nearly did and I told you, that nobleman saved you" Byul-yi replied nonchalantly, with her arms crossed

Joohyun's eyes widened, "I am not dead?! T-this is not the afterlife?! I saw Seon-u, he's dead!"

The three looked at her confusedly, "What are you talking about, Eonnim?" Yerim asked, "You saved him"

Joohyun is now dying in confusion. She held her head and shut her eyes, trying to process everything inside her mind

'Eonnim, Hanyang, Noblemen, Weird dialects, seon-u, physician bae. What's happening? What am I doing here?'

'Why are these girls using sageuk vocabulary?! Are they out of their mind?! They watched too many historical dramas'

'Right right, this is still just a dream. I'm in a coma, this is just a dream-'

"Anyway Eonim, tomorrow is the Crown Prince's natal year. We should go and see the Crown Prince finally!" Yerim interrupted her thoughts and immediately received a smack on her head from Byul-yi

"Pabo, we can't see His Royal Highness's face until he became our new King" Byul-yi said as she hissed "We don't even know if we can see His Royal Highness's face when he has already succeeded the throne"

"But Lord Bae said His Royal Highness is a pretty man" Sooyoung bit her lower lip as she start daydreaming about seeing the Crown Prince's face

Joohyun was caught off guard after eavesdropping on her so-called friends, "Crown Prince? Lord Bae?"

The Three ladies nodded their heads, "Our Crown Prince, the next King of Joseon, and Lord Bae, your father. He saw His Royal Highness, right? Since he's the Chief state councilor" Byul-yi stated that made Joohyun confused more

'What's happening? What is this?! '

"By any chance, you can't remember everything?" Sooyoung asked

"But she knew who we are" Yerim faltered

Sooyoung gave a half-shrugged, "Maybe some of the things"

Byul-yi then held Joohyun's shoulder who had been giving them an unreadable expression, "I know this is weird to say this to you because you know who we are,  We are here in Hanyang, living inside the infirmary
