some coffee for healing

Valentine's Day is known as a special and anticipated day for couples worldwide. It's a lovely time of year for those that want to celebrate their relationships with the one that they love and cherish. It consists of an abundance of flowers and gifts that hold promise, accumulating joy and beautifully precious moments that is shared with one another. It's unlikely that when the day does come, it's filled with sadness and heartbreak.

And, well, for Kang Seulgi, it surely was.

See, Seulgi was in a happy–or, so she thought–relationship with her boyfriend, Park Jimin, for a couple of weeks now. In actuality, it was the first relationship that she had ever been in. Albeit, when she was interested in someone, she tended to dive in full-force. And unluckily for her, Jimin was the first person she had gotten close to; romantically.

To be exact, it was on a random school day that Jimin chose to approach her. That tiny attraction manifested into more. Overtime, the meetings continued, whether it had been during her study hours in the library or when she'd grab a coffee at her favorite nearby shop. Ever since then, it all flowed smoothly; every interaction, conversation, and overall moment. As Valentine's Day began to roll around the corner, she realized that she had fallen terribly hard for the first time, because all she dreamed was to spend not only the day, but all days with him and him only.

Though, it was now, as she was waiting at the bus stop with her heart torn to shreds, that she regretted ever letting herself fall too deep into someone. And, possibly, since their relationship was short-lived, she began to second-guess whether her feelings were as strong as she anticipated. Nonetheless, the circumstances did leave her broken inside, as it would with anyone else.

"Would you stop frowning, Seul?"

It was none other than Kim Taehyung. He was the only one that called her that. His voice was angelic and deep, as always. Seulgi was so burrowed within her thoughts that she hadn't noticed that his presence had neared hers, plopping himself onto the bench to sit alongside her.

"Hey, what's up with you?" He nudged the frowning girl.

Taehyung is Seulgi's long-time bestfriend and has been for more than six years now. It's safe to say that they've known each other since they were in elementary school. It all started when he had moved to town during summertime. After a welcoming dinner between both families, they learned that they were, in fact, next-door neighbors. It initiated the two to meet up and play together every afternoon. And as time passed on, an unbreakable friendship formed.

Ever since middle school, the two best friends walked to and from school together. Initially, it was for safety precautions that their parents had constructed, since they were so close, but despite the fact that they had grown older and accompanying one another wasn't necessary, they had simply gotten used to it. Now, nearing their final months of their last year in high school, they had continued to do so. They've felt a source of comfort and safety, especially in Seulgi's case.

"Come on, smile. You look the best that way, anyways."

"Shut up," she pouted, ignored his usual compliment, and continued to stare straightforward in a state of hopelessness.

"I don't know why you're acting so different today. I can tell when something's wrong—it's obvious. Would you mind telling me?" As previously mentioned, the duo are more than comfortable with each other, especially to speak about things that bother them, and although this was important, Seulgi hadn't bothered to say a single word to Taehyung.

In fact, he was more likely to come to her about things than she was. She wasn't the type to complain or rant about her feelings. She'd usually keep it bottled-up inside instead of informing any of her friends. Although this case was slightly different, apart of her didn't want to let Taehyung know about her issues with Jimin. It just didn't feel right to her.

Her silence caused him to continue in a playful manner:

"Plus, your sadness is really making others aware. Even Seungwan and some of the others asked me what's up with you today. And, to be frank, it's quite suffocating, so if you'd like to take some advice from your bestest friend, I'd advise you to lighten up."

Crossing her arms over her chest, Seulgi snapped. "I can't, don't you see that?"

Taehyung flinched at not only her fiery tone, but her intense gaze that withheld the same energy. It'd burn a hole right through him like a pair of laser beams if it had the ability to.

"Geez, you really are pissed, huh?" He was only joking with his last statement, and since she knows of his playful tendencies, he expected her to smile a little at his words, but it seemed that she was in more of a horrible mood than he originally hypothesized. "What the hell happened?"

Seulgi sighed. "Tae, do you even realize what day it is?"

"Huh?" He was now confused. "It's Friday, of course I know what day it is."

"No, the day."

"Oh, it's February 14th, what about it?"

"God, you're extra clueless today, aren't you?" Her frown deepened at the mention of the special day. "It's Valentine's Day."

He was silent for a moment with only an idle thought that hung in his mind:

Did he hurt her?

Taehyung cleared his throat, growing a little uncomfortable with the topic of the subject, but he shrugged it off. His bestfriend was in distress, after all. There was no time to be selfish and think about himself. His gentle tone shifted into concern, and now, he was more cautious of his word-choice.

His eyebrows drew forward in worry, disbelief, and slight anger, before asking:

"He broke up with you?"

Seulgi guffawed, but instead of in humor, it was bitter. Cold, dry, and hostile. He figured his query was careless, or almost stupid due to the circumstances at hand. Originally, he pondered if he shouldn't have even mentioned the harsh question.

His subconcious scoffed and emitted, why else would she be so upset on a day like today? Of course, he hurt her.

That was the only response he received from Seulgi. He expected her to continue, busting out into an in-depth rant about the confliction between her and Jimin, but nothing else came. It was silent. It wasn't awkward, but it surely was concerning in Taehyung's mind. He has never seen his bestfriend so heartbroken in the many years he's known her.

Perhaps the only moment he could muster was when one of her cats had died, but even then, she was strong. Always. He admired that about her.

Though, it was a day like today, while Seulgi was upset over a stupid boy, that it finally occurred to Taehyung; they were growing much older.

It scared him.

How time flies and things can change.

Taehyung flicked his incoming thoughts and reminiscent memories away, almost falling into an emotional state himself. But, again, there was no time for that; he had to worry about Seulgi. He mentally bashed himself for not bothering to ask his bestfriend why she had been so down, until now.

He fiddled his thumbs, as he, too, stared off into space, but his mind wasn't empty at all. He didn't know what to say, as he's never had to comfort Seulgi over a breakup before, nor has she had to do the same for him. And, for once, he felt helpless.

But, it wasn't until he heard a few choked-up sobs begin to emit from Seulgi that he kicked into action as fast as he could.

"Seulgi, listen to me." In attempt to comfort her, he rose to his feet and kneeled down before her. Because her face was shoved into the palms of her hands, he took her wrists in his grasp and pulled them away in an effort for her to meet his gaze. It deeply pained him to survey her precious features being obscured by the countless tears that managed to escape her eyes and stream down her cheeks. He bit down on the inside of his lip, feeling his heart drop at the amount of hurt that was evident in her eyes, in which he looked so deeply into.

He lifted both of his hands to cup her cheeks, and as gently as he could, he wiped away every single tear that he was capable of catching.

"You know, I've never dealt with anything of the sort, nor do I know exactly what you're feeling inside, but I know that he isn't worth any of your tears. " He searched her eyes with his until he was successful. Once her sobbing had come to a gradual halt, he brushed back any strands of hair that had stuck to her cheeks and her jawline, due to the moisture that her sadness infused. "Do you hear me?"

She sniffled and exhaled shakily. To offer a sense of comfort that she desperately needed, he took both of her hands in his. She squeezed in appreciation, the saddest and weakest smile tugging at the corners of her lips.

That's a start, he thought.

"I know, I shouldn't cry, but I can't help that I'm hurt, Taehyung."

"He's an for hurting you, especially on a day that was supposed to mean so much. I understand." Taehyung swallowed the ball that formed in his throat. In a way, he was hurt, too. Although it played a huge part, he didn't know if the cause was strictly Seulgi's emotionally broken state or something of the other as well. "Can I ask you a question?"

"Of course, you can."

He his lips, stood up on two feet, and sat beside her, once more. He was orginally filled with slight hesitance, but he overcame it. He stared at his right hand still linked with hers, conjuring up the right way to present his thoughts.

"Why did he do that?" He muttered, refusing to make eye-contact with her as he added, "I thought you two were going strong or whatever, even though its only been a couple of weeks."

"Ask him," although she was broken, another violent emotion shrouded her tone instead. It was caged-anger and frustration. "He didn't say much. Correction: he didn't type much, but the fact that he didn't feel the same anymore. Even then, that's ing nothing."

"What a ; he did it over text?" Taehyung scoffed, clenching his jaw. "That's equivalent to saying nothing, yes."

"He did a great job at avoiding me all day, that's for sure. I wanted to say something to his face, but for some reason, I couldn't. I refused to enhance the probability of breaking down in front of him, like some weakling. I hate that ."

Taehyung smiled a smidge.

"I know, you do."

"But, what the hell? Who does that to someone? It's Valentine's Day, couldn't he have done that tomorrow? Or, three days ago? How about never approaching me if I was going to be used in the end? It only wasted my ing time."

He gave her small hand a squeeze, attempting to relax her ticked-off nerves. She only swore when she was furious or irritated.

"That's true, but I think if he informed you tomorrow or yesterday, it'd all be the same. It would've hurt either way, Seul."

"I guess so, but , everything about it just pisses me off."

"I hear you." Taehyung wished he could tell her what she needed to hear, but he didn't know what that exactly was. It was difficult to cough stuff up that relates to a subject in which you have no previous knowledge in. "Look at it this way: at least now you know that he's a douche, and you can begin the process of forgetting about him."

"True. At least I don't have to spend Valentine's Day with a guy that was never really interested in me, like I was to him."

Taehyung glanced over at Seulgi and let her words sink in. Something laced around his heart, and it burned negatively. He didn't like it, though at the same time, he didn't understand why.

"Did you L-word him?" He held his breath.

She scoffed out a small laugh at his avoidance of the word that was none other than 'love'.

"I don't think it reached that point yet," He exhaled outwardly at her answer. "I liked him, though, and if what we had continued, I could've."

"Thankfully, it didn't, then."

"It was still a waste of a month."

"Maybe in your current perspective, but don't think of it like that," He shook his head. "Yes, he ed you over, but life is like that sometimes. These stupid situations that get hurled at you are just obstacles that make you stronger in the end. I mean, look at you, you're the strongest person I know."

Seulgi took in his meaningful words and turned to look at him, appalled. She smiled, not only for how grateful she was to have a person like Taehyung in her life, but for how beautiful it sounded coming from him.

"When did you learn that?"

"Learn, what?"

"To talk so well, you idiot."

"Shut up, I'm just good at saying the right things. I need to make you feel better one way or another." He chuckled to himself as he teasingly continued, "I can't have you crying on my shoulder all night."

She countered: "I most likely won't, but if I do, what then?"

"I'd let you. Only this time around, though."

"Thanks, Tae."

Seulgi was about to pull Taehyung into a tight hug, but the arrival of the bus had paused her movements. The doors pried open, permitting them to enter. She, then, hopped off the bench and began to tug him along with her. Though, he didn't seem to want to budge from his current position.

Towering before him, Seulgi pouted in slight urgency, "Come on, let's go home."

Taehyung eyed his bestfriend, more so in thought than anything else, before insisting, "how about we walk home today?"

"You want to walk home?"

"Yeah, maybe we can stop by the coffee shop, if you'd like. You love going there, don't you?"

"Although I want a coffee, it's okay. He's probably there."

Taehyung nodded in understanding.

"Would you like to go anywhere today?"

"Why do you ask?" She squinted at him in speculation, unaware of this side of her friend. It was different--something she's never witnessed before.

Usually, he was always teasing her or being playful, as any bestfriend would, but at this moment, when she opened up to him, he was taking everything--her--mighty seriously. Her feelings were taken into consideration, and although she knew that he would try to make her feel better, she hadn't expected this type of reaction. She couldn't explain it. It was out of his realm of behavior, and although his jokeful side was always evident somehow, he was being sincere, genuine, and understanding. This evening, every gesture of his carried something else, and the only proper word that she could use was...caring?

In her eyes, he was being very caring, and it was nice to see coming from him.

She liked it a lot, and she'd like to continue to delve into this side of him.

"I asked because we're bestfriends, Seul. That's why." He smiled his notorious boxy-shaped smile, one that is very contagious, indeed. "Instead of spending Valentine's Day alone while crying over a dumb guy, just spend it with me. You have a much greater chance of laughing rather than sobbing, anyways."

Her heart jumped a couple hurdles at the preposition, although the reasoning behind it was unknown.

"I know that we've spent Valentine's Day together before, but why don't we do something different this time? Like, I don't know, maybe go somewhere instead of playing video games in our pajamas all afternoon?"

Seulgi's smile blossomed into an adorable grin, and Taehyung couldn't help but mentally note that he missed seeing it.

Like he mentioned before, her smile did look the best on her, anyways.

"Okay, but we should still play video games today. It's Friday, after all."

"Wish granted. Now, where shall we—"

"Yah! You two lovebirds getting on the bus or what? Time ain't stopping for you two to have a little chat!" The bothered bus driver protested, causing Taehyung and Seulgi to jump at the use of the heightened tone. In the midst of their conversation, they had totally forgotten that they were holding up a stationary bus.

The pair of best friends looked at each other and burst out into a fit of laughter.

"Uh, no, mister, sorry about that. We'll be walking." Taehyung piped up, and with his free hand, he rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly.

The driver rolled his eyes and closed the doors in frustration. In a blink of an eye, he was racing out of the school's complex, leaving the duo to cackle, once more.

The teenagers' laughter soon subsided, so Seulgi, then, commented, "guess he's having a bad day, too."

"Apparently."

"So, where were you thinking on going, hm?"

"I don't know, I haven't thought that far ahead."

Seulgi ruminated, and then mentioned, "do you remember that art exhibition near the Bangtan Museum that we wanted to go to a few weeks ago, but never did?"

"Yeah." Taehyung recalled why. Her and Jimin had a little date that day. It did irk him, but he didn't think much of it. As long as she was happy, he couldn't be upset. His own selfish feelings wouldn't get in the way of that; he would never let it. "What about it?"

"I heard there's another one tonight at six, if you're up for it."

"What? How'd you know this and I didn't?"

"I saw the sign the other day in the plaza, but I forgot to mention it to you."

", what time is it now?" Taehyung felt a surge of energy at the news. He was practically buzzing with excitement. He couldn't believe he had overstepped such a notice, though. He and Seulgi enjoyed art in its fullest, and sometimes he thought he loved it a little more, so he was appalled at the fact that she found out before him.

It seems that after the last exhibition hangout with Seulgi was cancelled, he wasn't up to date with it anymore. He always figured that if it wasn't with her, he may as well not go at all.

It wasn't the same without her.

"It's only three; we have time, Tae." Seulgi laughed at his exhilaration. She was always fond of how similar her and Taehyung were. It was almost weird how many things they enjoyed together. Although its one of the few things that they had in common, their interests and their hobbies were identical.

Often, she would wonder if their friendship was meant to be, seeing that the crazy amount of similarities that they had couldn't be coincidental. She would sometimes phrase it like this: they were destined or fated to be bestfriends in this point in time. Like, a soulmate, perhaps. And, with Taehyung now in her mind, she couldn't think of having anyone else to have around to do those things, or anything in general.

Seulgi sneaked a quick glance at Taehyung. Only for a moment, his sweet eyes were shut as a light gust of wind swept passed his face and ruffled through his messy hair. He let it grow out a little more, and it was a great look on him. His lips were quirked upwards in adorability. She thought he appeared so relaxed, as he always seemed to be.

Again, she managed to smile at the sight.

It occurred to her that no one was by her side, like he was, and currently is.

He's there, always. No matter what.

The first person she ran to--and will always run to--is Taehyung, and although she wouldn't speak her thoughts sometimes, he'd get it out of her sooner or later.

For example, like this evening.

Difference is, it was the way he handled the situation that surprised her the most, perhaps. And, because of the way he was acting, she considered that there was more to Taehyung than she previously realized. His ability to be so serious and so caring may now be one of the things that she liked most about him. Not only did it make her happier, but it made her feel secure, because she, indeed, has someone. And, it was someone that matters the most.

"Are you ever going to let go of my hand?" Taehyung teased.

"No, now shut up."

He commented, "okay, well, can you not squeeze too hard? I'm starting to lose feeling in my fingers."

"They might as well, 'cause I'm not letting go."

"Figured," he mumbled. "You sure you don't want a coffee? We're about to pass the shop."

Seulgi contemplated, her decision remaining unconcluded.

"Come on, I'll buy," Taehyung urged. He kind of wanted a coffee, too. "I'll check if the coast is clear, and if he's there, it'll be an unlucky day for him."

"Why?"

He winked. "He'll end up with an awful, black-eye."

"You wouldn't do that," Seulgi laughed. For how kind he was to her, she could never envision him doing such an act to another person.

Despite the atmosphere to be quite amusing, Taehyung's response was far from a lie: "He's an , you bet I would."

"It's okay," she patted his arm with a free hand reassuringly.

Arriving, Taehyung and Seulgi crossed the street and entered the vast plaza. They made a beeline for the coffee shop across the way, and once he signaled that the coast was, in fact, clear, they entered the store together.

Taehyung turned and looked at Seulgi, offering, "do you want to take it to-go or would you like to sit down and drink it?"

"I'd like to sit, I want to take a break from walking for a bit."

"Sounds good, you want the usual?"

She nodded, digging into her bag for her wallet, but he interrupted her by halting her movements with his hand on hers. He smiled reassuringly.

"No need to pay, Seul. I told you, I would."

"Come on, please? At least, let me pay for half."

Her cute and almost persuasive pout wasn't going to work on him today. He wouldn't let it, but it caused him to crack a smile.

"No, go ahead and find a table."

Before Seulgi conceded to his wishes, she eyed Taehyung's departing figure and narrowed her gaze in scrutiny. She hated when others paid for her in general, but with how he was acting, there was no changing his mind. She knew that, but apart of her still wishes that he would listen to her.

He's too sweet, she thought.

At that, her mood had escalated a little more, so she went ahead and found a small table by the large window that was facing the rest of the shopping plaza. It was fairly busy this afternoon, since school had just finished and it was, in fact, a Friday. Plenty of teenagers were grabbing a bite to eat or hanging out with friends. By the time night would fall, the sidewalk would be even more crowded with people, counting tourists as well. This marketplace was well-known to its inhabitants. Besides the usual stores and restaurants, it had a bowling-alley, a ski-rink, an arcade, and other things related to the entertainment category. Perhaps that's why it was bustling with people every weekend. It was a great location to have fun.

Frequently, the pair of best friends would explore the plaza and do some of the things that it offered, but more often than anything else, they'd both go to the coffee shop. Ever since they were able to accompany each other on walks, they'd spend time chatting whilst drinking some coffee or munching on snacks. In fact, it's one of the few places that they could say is apart of their childhood and their everlasting friendship.

Some time later, Taehyung finally appeared. It didn't take long for the order to be complete. He was juggling two medium cups of coffee and an unknown treat placed in a bag. He set down Seulgi's cup, before eventually taking a seat and a small, satisfying sip from his beverage. He hummed in happiness, watching his best friend taste some of her own, in which she responded positively to.

She quirked a brow, cupping the ceramic-container in both her hands: "What's in the bag?"

"Guess."

She said the first thought that came to her mind, only hoping she was right: "Cinnamon rolls?"

"Excellent first guess," he nudged the bag over to her, not surprised that she got it right away. They'd order cinnamon rolls every now and then; it was one of their favorite foods after all. Especially Seulgi's. "I figured it'd be a great way to pick up your mood a little more."

Without a second to waste, she took a small bite out of the pastry, savoring the sweet, doughy taste, and was ultimately satisfied with its contents. "Thanks, Tae. Food will always raise my spirits, but you didn't need to do that for me. I'm already okay, you know."

"Ah, don't worry about it. You're welcome," he smiled, biting down on his lower lip. He carefully eyed the corner of , almost bursting out into laughter. Folding a napkin in half, he reached across the table and wiped remnants of the icing away from the edge of . "You've always been the messiest eater--messier than me, how is that so?"

She laughed, clearly amused. "Shut up, I'm not a messy eater. I just don't care when I'm with you."

At how sweet that sounded, Taehyung placed a hand over his heart. "Slightly corny, but I'll take it as a compliment. I guess, I am the greatest best friend you've ever had." For some reason, those last words were hard to come out, and as he did so, he felt a pang of an emotion that he couldn't shake off for awhile. The feeling was familiar, yet unknown, but immersing himself to find the answer wasn't his goal.

"And, the only one I'll ever have."

Her words were true; Taehyung detected zero lies in the way her eyes had stared back into his. It was how she looked at him that made him drift off to another place mentally. Her gaze was soft, gentle, and most of all: affectionate. It was meaningful, to say the least.

"That's cute, really. I'm touched," he sardonically uttered, causing her to shoot him a tiny glare that may have also contained a hint of amusement behind it.

"I have to be sappy at some point, okay?"

"What, 'cause it's Valentines Day?"

"Perhaps."

He formed the letter "L" with his thumb and index finger, lifting it up to his forehead whilst mouthing, "Loser."

Seulgi's lips cracked into a smile at her best friend's ability to be childish, and left the topic alone. Silence consumed the air between them. Though, it was nothing, but comfortable for them. It was almost needed in a way. It was funny to her: Taehyung still managed to goof off and about things, in which she hadn't minded. It was a Taehyung thing to do, anyways. Besides the considerate side that he had been showing of the late, his goofy self made her feel nice, too. If he wasn't himself, then it wouldn't be the same.

Even then, in the midst of the moment that he diverted his attention out the window, he had began to study the environment outside. Unbeknownst to him, Seulgi studied him instead, or more specifically, his physical appearance that she admired so often. The years had done him nothing but good. She thought he was always adorable, but as she looked at him more closely, her mindset started to shift in another direction. His once-narrow shoulders have broadened, and his facial features were now well-defined and manlier, showcasing that he has, in fact, matured majorly.

His eyes are so intense and his gaze is so intimidating, the detail echoed in her mind, what happened to baby bear Taehyung?

He was no longer adorable, but extraordinarily handsome.

"Take a picture, why don't you?" Seulgi hadn't realized how long she had stared until she met the gaze she had been pondering about in her head; his. He shot her a sly smirk. "It lasts--"

"Shut up, Taehyung," she scolded half-heartedly. The other half was a mix of embarrassment and hilarity.

"Why were you staring, anyways? You think I'm good-looking or something?" He was thirsty for a compliment.

"You know you're good-looking. You don't need to hear it from me."

"True," he grinned that boxy-shaped smile of his--one she knew too well, yet it was always nice to witness. It was the warmest feature about him.

He took a long sip from his coffee-cup and gulped down the beverage. As he did so, his phone buzzed erratically. He slipped it out from his pocket and rolled his eyes at the text he had received, shoving it away.

"What's wrong?" Seulgi asked, concerned at his fallen expression.

He wafted his hand through the air: "It's nothing."

"Are you sure?" She wasn't convinced. His tone was no longer gentle and soft, but tensed and irritated. "I opened up to you today, it's only fair if you do the same."

"Yeah, yeah, I know how this friendship thing works."

She sighed. "Then again, you don't have to tell me, Tae."

"No, it's fine," he inhaled a deep breath and let it out before speaking, "It's just this girl from one of my classes. Jungkook gave her my number, so she thinks she can text me everyday."

Seulgi furrowed her eyebrows at his explanation. Her heart had dropped to her stomach, and she immediately felt discomfort with the idea, but it wasn't the time to focus on that.

So, she mentally shrugged it off. "Do you know who it is?"

"Yeah, it's Jennie Kim from my fourth period. Apparently, she likes me," he rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly. "I mean, she doesn't need to even tell me that she does. It's more than obvious at this point."

"Oh, Jennie, yeah. She's pretty." Extremely. Seulgi hadn't realized how dull, point-blank, and blunt it had sounded leaving her lips. "And, popular. I heard she's really nice, too. Maybe, give her a chance?"

"She is pretty and nice," He his lips and shifted in his seat. "But, can I be honest?"

Not bothering to speak, she lifted an eyebrow, waiting for his continuation. If she's being honest herself, she's dreading this conversation more than anything else.

"I'm not really interested in her, you know?" he informed, and she listened closely. At his honesty, that twinge of discomfort reverted back into nothing. "I don't really know much about her, and even when we do talk, I don't feel the attraction, nor do I feel the desire to get to know her better."

"Why don't you hang out with her more often? Ask her out, maybe?"

Taehyung eyed his best friend for a moment. Her reaction and her suggestions had hit him hard, pelting into his heart. He let her words sink in slowly and... painfully?

"I don't know, maybe."

"Then again, if you don't like her, just tell her, okay?" Seulgi smiled reassuringly, and he returned it, adding a simple nod. Bitterly, she reminded: "Don't end up like a certain person that I know."

"Yeah, I know. Anyways, let's move on from all that," he pushed the subject away, only knowing what she meant and where she was going by that. "I've got this afternoon lined up with plans already, so when you're ready to go, let me know."

"Wait, what?" She was astonished. Had he been thinking about what to do later on this entire time? "What do you have in mind?"

"Not telling," he teased, winking. Apart of him was glad that the atmospheric mood had risen back to the way it was.

"One of them is the exhibition, right?"

"Of course, it is."

She was too curious. "And, what else?"

"Again, not saying. It's a surprise, after all."

"You better leave time for video games."

It was almost like a threat.

"Although you live next door, are you sleeping over, again?"

"Duh."

Taehyung jokingly adds: "At this point, you need to start paying my mom rent."

"She loves me, though, so she doesn't mind."

"Obviously," he rolled his eyes.

Once the pair was ready to go, Taehyung offered a smile and his hand for her to take. "Let's go."

And, she gladly did. "You know that I love you, right, Tae?

"How can I not? I'm only the greatest best friend in the–"

Interjecting his vain attitude, Seulgi punched his arm, and with a glare, she warned: "Say it back, you coward."

"Yah! I love you, too, Seul," he pouted, rubbing the side of his arm.

The rest of the walk home was spent in silence, but it was comfortable more than anything else. It was a silence that a part of Seulgi needed, as well as Taehyung. Though, together, they breathed in the environment that surrounded them, as they rocked their hands, still embedded with the other, back-and-forth the whole way.

hi readers! i'm new to this website, so its kind of hard to navigate, but I've managed so far. It's been awhile since I've finished and updated a short story, so im just getting my creative juices flowing.

as this is a three part short story, this is the first part and will have two more chapters following it. I will upload the second tomorrow, and the third will be uploaded the day after.

In accordance to this little story, I thought of this while listening to the song 'make it count' by chen from the touch your heart ost, in which I love. it instigated a whole train of thoughts, and after reading the lyrics, it reminded me of two best friends that may like each other secretly, so here we are!

not only are they my biases, but vseul is a ship that I love. that's the main reason why I used them in this story. plus, there's not many stories about them, so I thought i'd feed the community a little bit! I hope you enjoy, and look forward to the next two chapters that will conclude the story!
