カレッジ / university love stories
“Hyunjinnie hyung, over here!" Sarang stood hand in hand with her brother William as her brother waved excitedly at her best friend. William had taken a liking to Hyunjin since he had met him, and Hyunjin clearly felt the same as he came running towards the siblings and swooped William up in his arms. "WILLIAM!!" Hyunjin's smile was bright as he spun her brother around.
"Where's Ryujin?" he asked as he turned towards Sarang.
"She couldn't come today, she has work." Sarang couldn't help the lack of emotion in her voice. He couldn't even acknowledge her first?
"Ah-" Hyunjin reached over and tucked a loose strand of hair that covered her face behind her ear, smiling affectionately. "There's my pretty best friend!" Carefully placing William down, the younger boy looked up at his hyung and grinned cheekily. "Bet you can't catch me!" With a giggle, Hyunjin took off running after her brother in the impromptu game of tag, leaving Sarang to look after them.
God, was it hot outside? Sarang could feel her heart melting a bit. One at Hyunjin's affection and two at his interaction with her brother. Don't be stupid, she chided herself. He looked for Ryujin first. Don't make this situation more tragic for you than it already is. How cliche was that? Her best friends liked each other and she had a one sided crush on one of them.
How she wished to be oblivious, it wasn't like the two were openly dating or anything. But Sarang had read the signs. She knew. It was only going to be so long before they started dating...
She was interrupted in her thoughts by a ping from her phone. Oh, a text from Seungmin.
Part one of our project is due tonight. Did you do your part yet?
Sarang grinned as she quickly typed back. Nope. I'll do it next week. Her and Seungmin had quickly become comfortable around one another, and their friendship had already turned into a teasing and joking one.
If you do it next week when it's due TONIGHT, I'm telling the professor I did all the work and you did nothing so I get an A and you fail.
Yah. You're supposed to ask me if I was struggling with time or needed any help... I really regret calling you my partner in crime. I should've switched partners when I had the chance.
No that's on you Sarang. It's not my fault you're so tiny that you can't hit me whenever I say something mean. And we're texting anyways so...
Even though they weren't together, Sarang could see his michievous cheeky grin in her had as she read his message, smiling to herself as she responded. I'm THIS close to finding you and kicking your shins.
At that moment, a giddy William came running back towards her, a breathless yet still smiling Hyunjin not too far behind. Her eyes glazed over as she stared at Hyunjin. Even with his hair tousled and his clothes disheveled, he still managed to look... perfect.
"Noona?" William pulled on the bottom of her hoodie, shaking her out of her daze. Oh god. She had to stop. She didn't like Hyunjin. She didn't, did she? He was just a good person. Effortlessly... a good person. A perfect person. She looked down at the phone she had just deposited back into her pocket. Maybe she could ask Seungmin some advice on this...
Jisun was getting ready to bathe all the dogs at the shelter, grabbing the proper shampoos and strapping on gloves when Yeolhwa strutted into the shelter. Compared to his dirty white tshirt and basketball shorts, she definitely did not look like she fit in with her bright, expensive looking sundress and heels that gave her an extra four inches. His hair was unkempt from the work he had just done, while every last one of her hairs were curled perfectly to frame her face.
The sound of her heels against the tile of the shelter caused him to look up while she lifted her oversized sunglasses to give him a smirk as their eyes met. He gave her a look of disgust. "What are you doing here?"
Yeolhwa tilted her head with slight confusion. "Helping the dogs, of course."
Jisun rolled his eyes. "You can't use our dogs as a photo op for your instagram or whatever you use. Helping them actually requires putting in work to-"
Yeolhwa scoffed, cutting him off. "No ?" She made an exaggerated show of placing her phone in her handbag and perching her sunglasses on her head, carefully tying her hair up into a clean, sleek ponytail. "So what are we doing, giving them baths?"
Just fifteen minutes later, Yeolhwa's clean appearance was gone. Her mascara was running down her face, loose baby hairs had fallen out of her ponytail, and she was absolutely soaked. Horrible. This was horrible. She didn't even dare to look at her reflection right now.
Jisun stifled a laugh. "What, you thought this was going to be easy, rich girl? Just stop before you ruin your expensive little outfit." Yeolhwa shot him a glare. She wasn't even living on her parents' money right now, but not like he needed to know that. She hated those insults, not that she would ever show it. Especially to someone like Jisun. This definitely was hard though, not like the videos she had watched on dog care the night before. She huffed in frustration, staring down at the puppy that had been rebelling against taking a bath. The minute the puppy's eyes met hers, she melted.
"Don't tell me what to do." She pulled her gloves up higher and got back to work, finally succeeding in calming down the puppy and finishing his bath, proudly sitting back after finishing.
Slightly impressed but not showing it, Jisun nodded towards the other kennels. "One down, about 30 more to go." he said, with an amused grin at Yeolhwa's dismay.
This was for the dogs. And to prove a point to this annoying guy. Yeolhwa tucked the loose baby hairs around her ears with a nod of determination. "Bring them on."
Jisun gave a nod of approval and left, coming back with two dogs, giving her the leash to one. The two spent the next few hours side by side bathing the dogs of the shelter, a tense silence between them give or take a few squeals from Yeolhwa every now and then from getting splashed by yet another dog fighting being bathed.
Everyone looked down at their phones, which had all buzzed at the same time. Karaoke tonight? I know someone that booked a huge room. It'll be lit!
Yeolhwa, Hana, and Hyeri had some connections and were able to get the room for free and were ready to invite anyone and everyone. Granted, those three were in and had invited out Sarang, who in turn invited Hyunjin and Ryujin... and Seungmin, because why not? She needed the back up.
Yeolhwa invited Kyuwon, who decided to drag Jisun along with him after much convincing.
Hana had invited Minggyu, who would be in the city that night. It was a long shot since he was an idol, but why not? She had also invited Jongin who was a for sure yes, who in turn decided to invite Seokwoo (bwahaha he was going to set up Hana and Seokwoo right then and there). Seokwoo, not wanting to go alone planned to force Youngho to come along.
Hyeri had invited out Howon, but Jackson had already gotten the invite and was going to bring Howon, Minjun, and Jacob regardless.
Hanbin had gotten the text and was forcing Eunha to come out.
Yijeong had gotten the text as well, and after hearing Minjun was going, decided to come as well and bring along her two friends Jinah and Hyejoo.
All of them were getting ready for the night, for indeed it truly was going to be a wild one.
